First I'd like to say I don't like to give bad reviews but I have to put it out there this place was bad I got sick and had to make a visit to the ER. So when you walk in we was greeted and we had a 20 min wait. While we sat and waited there was free peanuts. I had two and wow they where so stale. I took a look around and one side only had a small party like 11 people and all the other booths were ready for people to sit a young lady came a round the corner and told the hostess she could start sitting in her area again. That met the girl could only handle the party and no one else. We had one more party of 11 in front of us first so we finally got to sit down we where ready to give our order to the host but she said "I'm not ready for that yet but I'll get your drinks. I had a Raspberry tea. When she came back my tea was warm and the taste was like soap water. I ordered Texas size mozzarella sticks as an appetizer and for dinner I had the half ribs and chicken with Mac and cheese and sweet potato fries. I was going to have corn but they said they were out. This meal was dry burnt and very bad as you will see in the pictures as of right now, I do not recommend Coltons at all. The manager did not come and check on us and make his rounds at our hostess only showed up twice. Once to take the order and once to give us our bill never ask to give us refills our to go bags. We had a party of 3 early on a Saturday evening. We were seated quickly and our server was on top of our orders...maybe a little too much. At times (many times), I felt that she was rushing us. I ordered a sirloin, baked sweet potato, and house salad. All were good. My husband got a bourbon glazed salmon and my mother-in-law ordered the strawberry pecan salad. I only ordered a cheeseburger and fries. It was a curb-side order. When I called it in the girl didn't seem very knowledgeable about what I was ordering. I only wanted cheese and tomato on the burger and she repeated it back to me correctly, but when I picked it up there were no tomatoes. How difficult could it have been to get the order right. Food was very good. Service acceptable. Our primary issue is that this place was closed and went under new management. Had I been taking over the operation the first thing I would have done while it was closed down was to do a major clean and dust of all the decor, lighting and air vents. I am very surprised that this was not pointed out during the health inspection prior to reopening. read more

I really don't give 5 stars very often, and I wouldn't give Colton's a 5 star review either, but their average review is completely unfair and not a fair grade. I know that both my wife and myself are tough when it comes to restaurant reviews. We travel a lot and dine at some very nice places, and so our expectations are high. But we also go into each situation with reasonable expectations. Colton's is not trying to compete with Morton's, and I wouldn't walk into a Colton's expecting anything close to the experience one would expect from Morton's. And you won't. But you aren't being charged for a Morton's or Ruth Chris experience, either, so that's perfectly okay. With all of that out of the way, I will say that my experience the last 2-3 times I have eaten at Colton's has been extremely pleasant. The service was good. Not great, but very acceptable. And the food was very good! They have very good salads, appetizers, and entree's. I recently had a grilled chicken sandwich which GREATLY exceeded my expectations. And the last time I dined there I had their special sirloin and grilled shrimp combo which was great! They charge $20 for that combo that comes complete with a salad and a side. To be honest, I expected the steak to be mostly fat and grizzle, and overcooked. WRONG- it was cooked perfectly (medium rare as requested), and the shrimp were also grilled perfectly. For $20! I know Colton's has had trouble finding staff, just as everyone else has. This is impacting their ratings. Colton's has been forced to close on Wednesdays in order to relieve staffing pressure (according to their manager), so they are doing their best to cope with the labor shortage in our area. But it is severe. But overall I am extremely impressed with this restaurant, and I will definitely put them on our regular rotation going forward because it is probably the best deal in the area, in my opinion. Nothing exciting to review here but our experience was good. The four of us mostly ordered burgers and fries which were also good but not exceptional. Service was fine. If you wanted to take your family out for an average dinner, this would probably fit the bill. read more

Terrible service. Were seated for 12 minutes and was never approached by any wait staff. The restaurant was not busy (5:30 pm) and there seemed to be plenty of help. There is also a very creepy homeless guy who carries a crow bar and he hangs out in the parking lot. Tonight he was actually inside the restaurant getting a free drink and using their restroom. Denise is a very good server. We were only there a couple times, and she had already knew both my husband and my first name, and my name is hard to pronounce. She also remembers my order right down to how I like my steak cooked. We love to run in to Colton's for a quick meal, you know you will receive a quality meal at a reasonable price. I was doing an Art show in Hermann MO. The weekend of May 20th. We stayed in Washington Mo and went to dinner at Colton's Saturday evening. The restaurant was not busy at 7:40pm. We were seatted in the bar area, which I had no problem with. However it was Filthy! I understand the peanuts, but under our table was food on the floor and trash. You could also see trash on the floor in many other places. I could not understand why they didn't at least pick up the napkins off the floor. I ended up ordering the Del Rio Ribeye with a salad and asparagus. I ordered a Cesar salad and was told they were out of that dressing, so ended up with the reg salad and house dressing. Then we were served and was unable to eat the asparagus at all. First it was woody & it had no taste at all. My steak was tasteless and so chared on one end that it was Unedible. I ended up giving it to my daughters dog. I had been there before a few years back at that time it was much better but my steak was OK, nothing special then. I will not go back again. My family lives close to this location. They told me that they also quit going there because of the low quality of the food and cleanliness of the building. Someone needs to go in there and make their managers clean house. They had employees just standing around talking doing g nothing. I do not Recommend Colton's! read more

This is not a 3 star restaurant. That's ridiculous. We went in expecting it to be like Texas Roadhouse and similar restaurants. It was really good. The salads were good. (I thought the Caesar salad was better than most places. Good dressing). The fried okra was about the best I've ever had. Fresh and hot and they use something like a panko breading and were crunchy on the outside. Really good. My wife liked the sweet potato. The steaks were cooked perfectly, flavorful and tender. The peanuts and rolls were perfect. We couldn't have asked for better service. The beer was ice cold in a frosty mug. If I had to fault them for anything it would be the margarine they provide with the rolls is flavorless and not edible. Real butter would have been a major upgrade. Especially to put on the fresh, hot, delicious rolls. We will definitely be back. read more

I am a big fan of Coltons, generally they have great steaks. But my last visit to Coltons in Washington was not the best. I asked about a somewhat new item they have on their menu, Smoked Sirloin, their way of posing as Prime Rib. Forget that idea. I asked for a rare cut, instead of a steak like prime rib, they brought me three small slices of meat over cooked and smelled like a garbage dump. Coltons, do yourself a favor and dump this product. If you want Prime Rib to look and taste like Prime Rib, use the real thing. Also, find a better recipe for your au jus, very watered down and no flavor. read more

So, we thought we would just go get a nice meal at a nice looking steakhouse... were we wrong. We had some questions about the food prep & I asked what was in one of the soups, since we have some dietary restrictions. The waitress seemed shocked that we would ask anything, knew NOTHING about the menu, & didn't seem to understand she should go ask someone. So, I ordered a salad and the fettuccine alfredo, while my son & husband both ordered steaks & salads. My salad, & my husband's salad, came out first. We thought maybe the waitress would be right back with my sons. In the meantime, a supervisor of some sort came by politely asking how our evening was, so I thought I'd try our questions on her. She also seemed surprised we had questions, and just like our waitress, had NO IDEA what the answers were. She said she would go ask, but when she came back she still couldn't provide an answer as, apparently, no one in the entire back of the house seemed to know anything about their menu either! So I tried my salad, and the dressing was AWFUL. It was bad. And I mean bad as in spoiled. When the waitress returned, quite some time later (we imagine she was on an extended break, & no one was covering her tables) I mentioned the dressing to her & by now we were becoming accustomed to the terrified look on her face when she clearly didn't know how to handle something. I also mentioned my sons missing salad, & she disappeared (presumably to go look for it). Meanwhile our dishes arrive. The fettucine alfredo was bland. To their credit, the noodles were done well and the sauce was a nice consistency. But there was no flavor. So I ask the "supervisor" previously mentioned, who was passing by again, if they have a pepper mill. More abject horror. She disappears, and a few minutes later we're entertained by a scene about 15 feet from us, of the supervisor teaching the waitress how to use the pepper mill. By this time my sons salad arrives, but my husbands steak is terribly overcooked. So after she nervously uses the pepper mill, he sends his steak back to be redone. It was like the Keystone Kops of the wait staff world. One final bizarre event in this episode: we filled out the comment card, explaining our story. We talked about the need for the wait staff (& the back of the house, in this case) to know the menu, and the value of training. We were inclined to believe the poor girl waiting on us was perhaps new, and we suggested proper training might help her. We mentioned the salad dressing & how dangerous it could be to serve customers something that could make them ill. To our surprise, the "supervisor" shows up at our table again, only to read the comment card in front of us & proceed to try and discuss our evening there. While we appreciated her apology to us, I feel like there is a Comment Card Protocol that she breached. The comment card is for the bosses higher up, to review & use in decisions on possible changes & improvements. Perhaps I'm just old school, idk. read more

This was my first time at a Colton's Steakhouse. We were on our way home from a weekend anniversary trip so we stopped in for our anniversary dinner. It just kept getting more and more disappointing as the meal went on. First of all, our waitress Barbara was VERY RUDE! She had an attitude the whole time which is not professional. Next, we ordered chipotle chicken nachos and they were very gross and dry. When you think of nachos you think of nacho cheese, queso cheese, not shredded cheese microwaved on top of chips to melt them. The beans were also very dry and there was no "chipotle" about it. Lettuce was torn up and thrown on and a few tomatoes made it in. I could have made better nachos at home. Then I got the Colton's "loaded" chicken... that too was topped with melted SHREDDED CHEESE ... I asked to add sautéed onions and the onions were very skinny and gross.. the mashed potatoes were okay but the white gravy tasted like gravy from a jar. I didn't get the honey Dijon like it said it came with... we got our rolls and butter 20 minutes after being there... the whole experience was very disappointing and we will never go back. This is a Texas Roadhouse. Plain and simple, a knocked off concept. That said, the food was very good. I had the ribs and sirloin dinner. Very tasty but the portions were too large although this is what you should expect from a place like this. Service was below average. I easily would have had another beer had they asked but they cleared my plate without asking. They asked if I wanted dessert but I was so full that was the last thing I wanted. Beer selection was weak, very few options. If you are going to copy a chain restaurant's concept at least put in the time to ensure that you are better or at least differentiated in some way. read more

Just paid $90 for a table full of cold food. Yep, seemed like there wasn't enough help. Took forever to get our food. Once it showed up, the broccoli and the baked potato were so cold the butter wouldn't melt. Asked for them to be sent back and microwaved. Still came back cold. It took so long they probably sat for awhile. My steak was at best luke warm. Nothing against our server, they did the best they could. But obviously, the management doesn't have enough people working here. And our food probably sat in the kitchen serving window for a long time, before it was brought to us. If I'm going to drop a $100 bill to feed my family, I at least expect hot food. Incredibly disappointed. read more

I have been waiting for the right time to go to Coltons and my husband I finally did... and boy was I the most unhappy that night! Let's start with the drinks, my husband orders a tall Sam Adams after about 6 minutes he finally gets it... as soon as he picks up the glass he gets a cut on his thumb! The freaking handle was broken! Oh so the waitress takes the glass and offers him another and then he now waits another 10 minutes when he finally decides to go to the bar where we can clearly see his drink just sitting there and she walks him back to our table with the drink! Then on to the food... I ordered a premium side of 4 cheese Mac and it was a solid log of basic box type macaroni and cheese! My baked potato was under cooked and the only good part was my steak but don't ask for steak sauce, because one waitress will tell they are out and then another ask if you would like some! The food was okay but the atmosphere was terrible. When your asked smoking or non-smoking and your response is "definitely NON-smoking!" you think you wouldn't be sat right by the bar. The smoke was terrible and made my meal thoroughly unenjoyable. With being an asthmatic I will not return to Colton's. read more

Colton's used to be great, but has really gone downhill the past couple months. Today's lunch is a mushroom and swiss burger on which they forgot to put cheese, and a house salad also missing ingredients (tomatoes). Just spoke with the owner, who said he's really sorry and if I ask for him or the manager next time, they'll be sure to get it right. Good to know that they'll get it right if you tell them to...? I think I'll pass on this place for a while, while they figure out what's on their menu. Hopefully they'll get their act together again soon. read more
