Spoke with the receptionist yesterday for my mother as she was experiencing symptoms of a detached retina. The lady told me she could help me get an appointment scheduled but it may be quicker if my mother called so she did at her earliest convenience, got an appointment set up and scheduled and even showed up 15 minutes early as requested. Their scheduling system went down for maintenance last night and erased her appointment. She asked if they could still see her and they said they could in 3 weeks. Highly unprofessional of an ophthalmology office especially given the risk of loss of vision involved with the detached retina. Would not trust this office with emergencies or good customer service. read more

Bad experience with Columbia Eye Clinic. Specifically Dr. Cross. I pay for expertise not rudeness and arrogance!!! Will be transferring to another facility. I have never been treated this badly by any other physician and I am a senior citizen who has seen lots of physicians in my life time. The positive in this bad situation is the staff. read more

Canceled my appointment less than 24 hours before I was supposed to be there. Said someone would call and reschedule I called three times in the following two weeks and was never able to talk to a person. I called them back today and they said they could fit me in July (5 months after my original appointment) or I could drive to a different office an hour and a half away Very unprofessional in word and deed. read more

IF I could give this company ZERO stars, I would. THEY CANCELED MY SON'S SURGERY HOURS BEFORE THE PROCEDURE. HE CANNOT SEE OUT OF HIS EYE AND IS PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE. My son has injury induced cataract and his vision has progressively gotten worse over the past few months. Because he is 17, this is the only company in the area that would take a pediatric patient. We originally had a scheduled appointment on January 23. At that time, the family contracted COVID and could not come to the scheduled appointment. I called and spoke with the receptionist of Columbia Eye Clinic (Pickens) on January 19 to explain and we needed to reschedule. She stated that they would cancel it, but she could not reschedule. She told me that she was going to transfer me to the scheduling department and to leave a voicemail. I was transferred and I left a message. Since that date, I called REPEATEDLY to get a new appointment. I did not get a response until FEBRUARY 9 from Kimmy. (20 DAYS LATER) At that time, I was told that I was a NO SHOW from the previous appointment and I could not get another appointment until April 25. We went to the appointment on April 25, took eye scans, Dr. Cross explained the procedure to us, and we received a packet of information to read. We explained in this visit to DR. Cross that his vision has progressively gotten worse. We stated that when the injury first happened, he could see but his vision was a little blurry. It moved to cloudy and currently cannot see anything. I received a phone call later that afternoon from the receptionist and we scheduled his procedure for June 13. On June 6, I received a phone call stating that I needed to pay my out of pocket cost $974.81 up front (with no payment plan) or the surgery will be canceled. (AT THIS TIME MY SON CAN NO LONGER SEE IN THAT EYE) I paid the fee, but that was a huge unexpected expense that was given a WEEK before the scheduled procedure. On June 12 at 4:30 P.M. I receive a phone call from Columbia Eye Clinic (I was at work during that time and did not notice a call from the company until 5:00 P.M. - 30 minutes later) The receptionist from Columbia Eye Clinic left a voicemail stating that my insurance will not cover the procedure in their office and it will need to be done in a hospital setting. They will call me on MONDAY to reschedule. Today is WEDNESDAY. The surgery is scheduled for Thursday morning at 7:45. I attempted to call back at 5:00 and NO ANSWER. I have taken off of work the rest of the week to be with my son (Loss of income) My son has rescheduled his practices for the surgery that is supposed to be tomorrow morning and then we get a last minute phone call to cancel the procedure?!?!?! Then when we reschedule, I have to take off work AGAIN and my son has to reschedule his practices AGAIN?!?!? He is a SENIOR this year and he needs to have the procedure done as soon as possible before the season begins. DOES THIS COMPANY EVEN CARE ABOUT THE EFFECT OF THE UNPROFESSIONALISM THAT IT HAS ON THE PATIENTS? Would someone like to repay my loss of income? read more

Idk if I had an appointment on an off day, but from the time I walked thru the door I felt uncomfortable. I am pleasant and talkative to set my mind at ease and for the staff wherever I go. Everyone I encountered was condescending and I felt like my being there was a bother to the staff. #1Before I could finish my prwk I was called back. I finished during my visit. As I was finishing there was a sheet I was expected to sign acknowledging I had to pay $40 for a procedure. I refuse to sign it because I have EXCELLENT insurance wherever I go I never pay copay. Well they said they won't release my eyeglass prescription until I pay and sign. Fine. Fast forward a month later I start receiving a bill for that amount. Rewind back to the visit, as I said, the vibe in the office was off in my opinion. Strike #2 When I walked in there was an older lady in distress because he car wouldn't start. It was an extremely hot day. Staff allowed to use the phone but offered no assistance. NONE. She asked if they knew of a mechanic....no help. She felt so unwelcomed by the staff she decided she would rather sit in her hot car than sit in the lobby to wait for AAA. This was not assumption this was said by the older lady. I honestly didn't blame her. I rarely leave reviews, but after receiving 3 bills for procedure AND remembering that poor lady I felt I must say something. read more

We should have read the reviews before wasting our time with Columbia eye clinic- first and foremost, be aware that YOUR time means nothing to them. At our first appointment we waited .. And waited ... And Waited to be seen, apparently appointments mean very little. After the eye exam, they couldn't fit in a contact fitting so we had to set another appointment, weeks later. When they finally figured out they could schedule the contact fitting- the girl doing the scheduling insisted he'd need another eye exam. After talking to 3 different people in the office she finally got it right and we were scheduled for today, got in the office and they said we'd have to come back tomorrow because she entered the wrong date altogether into the computer!!! Yeah, because missing work and driving an hour isn't already an issue?!!! Nope, sorry, they're not worth the drive, not worth the hassle and they don't give a rats ass about your time or keeping your appointment. ZERO STARS. May 1, 2018 after many many months we were finally able to get someone to return our calls so we could get the prescription filled. Yay! read more

I can't imagine a better and more compassionate doctor than Dr. Holland Crosswell. My sister was struggling with a misdiagnose and severe pain. Dr. Crosswell and his staff worked her into their busy schedule on the same day we called & even stayed late (after office hours) until they were assured she had the care she needed. Additionally, we received 3 personal phone calls from the doctor and staff inquiring on her well being. Personal care like this is rare - God Bless them and their staff! read more

Went in for an eye appointment today. I was concerned about previous reviews I had read. They pleasantly greeted me when I entered the lobby. I was asked to fill out some papers(2) and was called back for my appointment before I could turn them in. They were right on time. The Technician started the exam immediately and the doctor was prompt in following her to complete his part of the exam. He explained things well and answered my questions. He wrote a prescription for glasses and I asked if I could have the prescription to take to another place. They printed it in the area where you can buy glasses and they gave me coupons for the glasses if I decided to purchase them there. When I checked out they asked if I wanted to schedule next years appointment and I did. I will be notified by email and text. It was an easy appointment, well managed and I felt that the doctor and technician were knowledgeable and friendly. read more
