No one informed us that the cemetery was under construction. There were no signs to guide attendees at my father's funeral. Relatives had to walk approximately 1/2 mile over rough terrain to get to the burial site. Not easy for older or disabled people. Addressed me by the wrong last name. Sloppy. read more

My great great Aunt and her husband are buried in Columbia Gardens along with my own beloved grandparents. I attended the funeral of both my grandparents. Both times it was quiet in the cemetery and surprisingly vacant so we could mourn without being subjected to onlookers. I've been back to visit my grandparents' resting place several times. Each time I appreciate the quiet atmosphere and privacy afforded to me. I think that Columbia Gardens is a unique cemetery in the midst of an otherwise busy city. It is shady and has an ambiance that is rare to find in a cemetery these days with trees, and bushes, and flowers all around. I am thankful that my loved ones and their loved ones are near each other in this special haven. read more

Having to bury a loved one is the most difficult thing I have had to do. In this case it was my dear mother, my best friend. The entire staff at Columbia Gardens from the owner Daun, Faye at the front desk and Katherine to many others made a very difficult and sad day tolerable. They were well organized, very empathetic and provided excellent service throughout the entire process. Both my parents and my grandmother are buried here. The cemetery grounds are very well maintained, it's quiet and easy to access. I highly recommend this family owned business. They will take care of you and your loved ones. read more

In preparing a plot behind my grandfather's gravesite, the staff moved his headstone, severely damaged an evergreen shrub we had planted there and uprooted a healthy rose bush. They then piled enough dirt in front of the headstone that it was difficult to locate his grave. Their response? They offered to re-plant the rose bush for free-- if we bought one and brought it to them. How about you put the headstone back, clean it off, move the mound of dirt off the grave and replace the rose bush yourselves? The rotten treatment my parents received here when trying to rectify this horrible situation convinced them to sell their plots. read more

I am at a loss for words at what occurred to my family and friends We were there on Thursday for a special anniversary. A private gathering for close family. Mind you my grandparents own a double plot costing close to $40,000 We arrived around noon in about 5 cars and immediately were met up front by Heidi in her car who CUT US OFF and asked why we were there and what we were doing!!! Last I heard Heidi, this is a cemetery and we are paying our respects to our loved ones who now reside here. As if that wasn't insensitive enough she follow the last car to the back where we were got put of the car and proceeded to ask multiple members of my family why and what we are doing. SHE STOOD OVER US THE ENTIRE TIME OF OUR VISIT!!!!!!!! she was rude and insensitive and a mean person. I don't know how a person with those qualities could run a place for peace ,love and Serenity when she is clearly opposir6 of all those things!!!! In our time of grievance, saddness we were harassed for being there. I am appalled and discusted at Heidi's behavior. I do not recommend this place at all. How sad and cruel to do that to people who are already in pain as it is. SHAME SHAME SHAME IN YOU!!!!!@@ read more

I'm sorry, at first I wasn't going to say anything, but your response, Heidi, to an honest review given by my sister, actually made me laugh. You pour honey over a wound, and suddenly your faults become a good deed? I think not! First of all, you hawked over us the entire event, despite ME specifically asking you to supervise further away, to let us have our private moment. No, you were mere feet away, watching us as if we were criminals. At the end, and only at the END, did one of us ask you to take photos (by the way, you were no where near your car when my husband approached you), meaning you stood near by during the ENTIRE event! I figured you might as well make yourself useful, you know being the only person there that was actually interfering and disturbing our grieving process and special family moment. It was the least you could do. For whatever misconstrued reasons, you felt the unnecessary urge to play warden over a family that spend $40,000 for the right to be there. That should include any anniversaries we wish to celebrate with our beloved. Your conduct was beyond rude, it was outright disrespectful. read more

Everytime I visit my husband's family plots, I'm impressed with this oasis of quiet. Decorating is allowed (within reasonable rules or expectations), and I've seen only one incidence of distracting signage on the grounds. The grounds are groomed, but still have a natural element to it that feels comfortable. Additionally, the staff has been accommodating and helpful which is so important when working with stressed and grieving people. read more

I was here for a service about a month ago for my cousin. I'm not sure what the pretty young lady's name was, who was running it, but she was really good at keeping us organized until everyone showed up at the cemetery - and she was nice about it too, she tried to keep it light. Then she led the cars all down to the service and when the guy from the funeral home got confused, she straighten everything out. Sounds like whatever was wrong has been worked out of the system. read more

When people walk through Columbia Gardens, it feels like they are in a garden/park. The landscaping is beautifully designed, and there are various trees, shrubs, and flowers throughout, giving the cemetery a serene atmosphere while being a place of solace. The president and staff at Columbia Gardens were kind, friendly, and sympathetic when we were there in April. We feel they understood the difficult time we were going through and tried to ease our pain. They were accommodating and patiently worked with us to design a memorial marker for my grandparents, even with a very tight time schedule. The memorial marker was efficiently made with very beautifully crafted engraving work. They also provided professional advice and were very helpful in coordinating the various arrangements for the memorial service. We worked with Heidi (the office manager) the majority of the time. She patiently explained the different options we had for the memorial location as well as for the service. She was very considerate and supportive, also helping us find a priest located nearby to give blessings during the memorial service, and was present and helped during the memorial service to ensure that everything went smoothly. We are very grateful for the efforts of everyone at Columbia Gardens in helping to make the memorial beautiful and the service memorable. read more

My grandfather recently passed away 4 hours away from Columbia Gardens with no cell service. Heidi was incredibly patient and helpful with the fact that I was out of town and not able to speak with her via phone until I was back in the area. She went out of her way to email me the documents I need to proceed with the final arrangements (we had SEVERAL failed attempts due to me being in a remote location at the time). Once I was back in town, Heidi showed me his final resting place that my grandmother had chosen out of the several family owned plots. Several other family members are currently buried in the plots and we ran into a few complications based off my grandmother's past decisions with some of the headstones. Heidi was EXTREMELY patient with us trying to figure out which plot would be best based on the existing headstones and explaining the multiple of options we had. She even called over the groundskeeper to help with the logistics. The day of the burial, Heidi was present to ensure there were no problems but remained at a respectful distance so no one felt she was infringing on our privacy. She coordinated with the funeral home director and the military honor guard beautifully so that the family could solely focus on laying my pop to rest. I appreciate the work that Heidi and Columbia Gardens did to work with me patiently in making arrangements considering I was out of reach up until 4 days prior to the burial. read more

My wife interred both of her parents here very recently, and we had a very positive experience with the Columbia Gardens staff, in particular Heidi Chapman. Heidi organized everything very well, and was helpful, respectful, and efficient. This difficult process was made much easier by Heidi and the groundskeepers.
