Not sure why this restaurant only has a 3-Star rating... I just went here with my girlfriend's family, 5 of us, and the food was excellent. The only thing t bad with the food was that my girlfriend mom's chicken was a little overcooked, but that's not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things. I personally got the Cowboy 3-egg omelet, which was with cheese, ham, sausage and bacon, along with a side of Country potatoes, which were cooked excellently, imo, (I prefer them a little black and crunchy) and a biscuit. The biscuit was a little dry, but biscuits tend to be on the drier side if they don't come with a side of gravy. It came with butter instead. Which hey, a buttered biscuit is always good! The service of this place was great. The waitress that served us was fully energetic and enthusiastic which definitely helped create a fun experience. The vibes and ambiance of the restaurant were also really cool. It was like a time warp back in time to when this place was running as a Gold Rush town. There is also a sign outside the door that explains that a lot of their food is made the same way as when the Columbia was a Gold Rush town in the 1800s, but also some of there foods has a modern twist to it. Regardless, I don't think it's fair that this restaurant has a 3-star rating. It deserves at least a 4. Thanks for the great service and the delicious food!

It was a busy day in Columbia for the equestrian parade but we were able to get a table shortly after the parade ended. The food was delicious, the restaurant staff super friendly and it makes spending a day in Columbia so much better.

Nice little restaurant right in Main St stopped in after a stroll around Columbia Park site seeing. Waited a bit to be seated not because it was crowded staff were busy waiting their tables not sure if this is normal or short staffed. After being seated we sat again for quite awhile before someone arrived at our table to take our drinks it was actually a waitress who was already off work but noticed we were sitting there for quite some time. She arrived back with our drinks pretty quick shortly after another waitress stopped by to take our order she apologized and said she was not aware someone was at a table in her area. Umm we are sitting right smack In the middle of other diners only about 3-4 tables have people eating the rest of the area we were in was empty. Ok that's fine we placed our order food took awhile to come out but no issue nice to take a rest with a cold drink in hand. Food arrived it was warm not cold yeah My husband and I ordered the same thing a BBQ tri tip sandwich with fries the sandwich came with a onion ring on it what was delicious I love onion rings our fries were nice and cooked crispy with enough seasoning in them food was good sandwich was messy it had a lot of BbQ sauce on it but it tasted food. My husband added mushrooms to his when we arrived home with our left over our son ate both of our half's of left over sandwiches and he enjoyed my husbands more with the mushrooms Maybe try the BBQ tri tip with mushrooms I would love to see onion rings as a side in their menu they were good

A friend and I flew to Columbia CA for the day. We stopped and had breakfast at the restaurant. The people were so very attentive, friendly, and nice. Something that is lost in the Sacramento area (despite paying them more per hour). Service with a smile. The atmosphere is 1860 decor and the staff are dressed for the period. The food here was served hot and fresh and just the way we liked it. The coffee hot and plenty of it. No complaints. The Bacon, cheddar, jalapeño waffle was incredibly delicious. When you visit Columbia; make time to eat here. You will not be disappointed.

I've arrived at The Columbia House Restaurant, located in Columbia, CA, to enjoy some fine dining in the gold country.

Did you know "back in the day" the gold mining town of Columbia, CA was a candidate for the state capitol of California? Sacramento won out as the state capitol, but the town of Columbia is "capital" when it comes to fine dining in Tuloumne County, especially when you enjoy a fine meat at The Columbia House Restaurant, located in historic downtown Columbia, CA. As you enter the restaurant, you're greeted with a "Please Wait to be Seated" sign and a black board that advertises desserts, and another board that lists daily specials. No worries, as you'll be seated immediately by a member of the friendly staff. The Columbia House Restaurant, I assume, is owned by next door Bella Union Restaurant, and co-located Angelo's Hall, as Bella Union Restaurant seemed to have a strong presence in the dining room, and on the menu. The main dining room is pure rural "country," any way you look at it, and offers lots of table seating - with not a single booth - in a gold rush, historic atmosphere. The restaurant offers a second dining room, separated from the main dining room by a low partition. Like the main dining room, it offers comfortable seating and an "old school" atmosphere. Columbia is a historic mining town that dates from the California gold rush of 1849. At Columbia House Restaurant, the hospitality staff dresses in 1850's period fashion, to add to the rustic, historic ambiance of the restaurant, and the town of Columbia. I think the historic clothes also add a little "spice" to the amazing cuisine. From the "House Specialties" section of the breakfast menu, I went with "Gold Digger," which truly seems to be a delicious and exclusive dish of this restaurant. The menu advertises he "Gold Digger" as, "Bacon, jalapeño and cheddar waffle, with sausage gravy and two eggs." Naturally, the eggs are cooked to your liking, and I chose my eggs to be fried sunnyside up. My friendly hostess asked me if I wanted maple syrup on the side, as I declined, as the gravy was what I was after. This amazing breakfast began on a full-size waffle - made from scratch and perfectly grilled - which was cut into four squares. This was not your "mom's" waffle or the waffle you recall enjoying at the diner around the corner, as this waffle was infused with bacon, jalapeño pepper and Cheddar cheese. This is a "Columbia unique" waffle! This delicious waffle definitely had a "Mexican" slant to it... The waffle was topped with a generous helping of thick, "country gravy" which added a total WOW factor to the breakfast. Think of thick, rich, in-house made country gravy with lots of chunky sausage and sprinkled with black pepper. And... this amazing breakfast of waffle and gravy was topped with two perfectly fried eggs, sunnyside up, as I ordered. The steak knife served with the breakfast was simply "window dressing" as the waffle was fork-tender. Alright, I confess that I added a sprinkle of salt to my eggs, along with a dash or two of black pepper. This was simply a delicious and unique breakfast and I loved every bite. The thought of a waffle topped with sausage gravy might sound a bit weird, but throw in the jalapeño pepper and Cheddar cheese to the waffle, and you have a "griddle classic" breakfast, at The Columbia House Restaurant. The Columbia House Restaurant serves amazing "gold country" cuisine, served by friendly staff, in a historic and comfortable dining room. "Gold country" fine dining is alive and well at The Columbia House Restaurant, located in historic downtown Columbia, CA. This is my idea of "Five Star" dining, any way you look at it.

The menu is all new - be careful looking at menu photos online - some are from the prior operation. I am attaching current photos. Has your basic American menu with burgers, salads, sandwiches and etc and kid menu. Definitely a cute area to stop by with shops and gold panning.

However, I Visited on Mother's Day with my daughter and sister and had a completely different experience. I have a gluten allergy, one daughter has gluten sensitivity, and my other daughter has celiac disease. We informed our waitress that we needed gluten-free options and were told they were out of gluten-free buns but had gluten-free sourdough. After double-checking, the chef confirmed it was gluten-free. Something didn't seem right, so we asked to see the packaging. Wheat was listed as an ingredient. Thankfully, we caught the mistake before eating it. Unfortunately, when our food arrived, two of the gluten-free meals were still served with gluten-containing items, including a flour tortilla and the same bread we'd already identified as not gluten-free. The food itself was actually delicious, and I wish I could leave a more positive review based on that alone. However, for anyone with celiac disease, a gluten allergy, or a serious gluten sensitivity, accurate ingredient information is not optional--it's a health and safety issue. The repeated errors from both the kitchen and serving staff were extremely disappointing and left me with little confidence in their ability to safely accommodate gluten-free guests.

what a creative menu!…read more I was hungry for a philly cheese, and the "philly cheese please" hit the spot. Soft tender slices of ribeye, paired with grilled onions, grilled red and green bell peppers and a helping of black pepper was great. No sauce to make it messy and paired with garlic truffle fried was fantastic. Since these were shoe string cut, they were crispy and very crunchy. My SO ordred the fondue burger, and this was delicious as well. Warning the hot cheese will burn you, and hot cheese oil. But worth the burn as this smother cheese on a ciabatta bun was great. This was paired with sweet potato fries. These thick cut sweet potatoe fries are only sprinkled with sea salt, they retained the soft and moist texture just prefect. One order of a passion fruit lemonade, was a great balance of sweet and tart, and came in a very large glass. Pleanty of ice to keep it chill and slowly sip through out the meal. The meal a tad heavier than I thought, I finished my philly cheese, but not the fries (a first) The room is very high ceiling and all these great art works, posters and items on all the walls. TV screen with sports and sounds like sattelite radio running above. Service was very prompt and friendly. They explained the menu and clarified on some points. Their happy hour is DAILY from 14:00-16:00. The restaurant was pretty busy on a Sunday, but we didn't have to wait long for a table. Our server was attentive and friendly. For our cocktails, my friend went with the Huckleberry lemonade, while I went with the pomegranate whiskey sour. She thoroughly enjoyed her cocktail, and so did I. At that price point, I didn't expect much, but it was a solid cocktail, although not as strong as what I'd normally get elsewhere. The clam chowder sounded really good, and I couldn't help myself, so I ordered it. My friend is not a fan of seafood, so the chowder was all for me. The crostini was very nicely toasted and I loved dipping it into the chowder. I was also pleasantly surprised by the flavor and quality of the clam chowder. It was packed with a ton of clams, and was perfectly hearty without being heavy. We opted to share the fallen apple pizza, which was the perfect choice. The dough was pillowy and light, and the toppings delicious. I would have liked more apple slices, as it didn't seem like they were very prominent, and for the balsamic drizzle to be more uniform, but overall it was a solid pizza. I took leftover pizza home, and my husband enjoyed it for dinner. We heated it up in the air fryer and that was the way to go. While it was a little noisy in the restaurant, mainly due to a large group seated next to us, we still had a good experience, and the booth seating was comfy. I would love to bring my husband back to try more happy hour menu items next time we visit Sonora! The price point is seriously hard to beat, and Emberz is a solid spot for hanging out and having a good time.
