The service is my absolute favorite but everytime I've been I've always been around the SWEETEST ladies! Which is just the thing you need when it's the morning, that really show they genuinely care by them checking in your getting to know you, I'm talking you it's top tier with the service. When my mom and I just sent she hit their delicious eggs Benedict while I decided try one of their BOMB looking sandwiches the Tuna Melt! And oh it is SO good I believe it comes on provolone which is my favorite cheese, you can get this Ginormous sandwhich with a variety of sides but I picked regular fries with ranch and I was in love!!! Found ourselves in Sonora yesterday and wanted some lunch. Barrows was there and we stopped in. What a pleasant experience. We were greeted well and pleasantly upon entering and the experience got better from there. Special's were on a white board along with wifi password. The menu is very diverse covering breakfast and lunch items - they close at 3pm. Very difficult to select because there are so many choices. We chose a cheeseburger and club sandwich. Wow! We could have split either one and it would have been plenty. The portions are large and the quality was top notch. It's clear the menu options are tired and true created and crafted over many years. You can't go wrong. Our server was so helpful. The restaurant has a very nice homey feel and quite clean. Restrooms were clean and well maintained. We have lived on the mountain since 93 and feel foolish for not trying Barrows earlier. We will fix that in the future and plan to return soon. Walked in and immediately sat down which is a nice thing when you show up on a Tuesday morning when most people are at work. Kathy was our server. She was very attentive and even assisted with suggesting the Create breakfast option. This offers smaller servings and the option to choose four selections from a variety list. This was perfect since we weren't sure exactly what we wanted. I would say everything was good but the gem of the breakfast was the biscuits with gravy. I lathered everything in the gravy. The waffle was also very good with a tad bit of sweetness. I wish the restroom had a bit more TLC maybe a few updates would really go a long way. We just ate here for a quick breakfast! We are looking into buying a house in Sonora and my husband mentioned his grandfather used to take him to this restaurant 35 years ago! We swung by today and it was SO SO good. Our waitress was Morgan and she was so sweet, we're from the Bay Area and trust me.., we do NOT get good genuine service like that ANYWHERE. So refreshing. So this review is based off of this incident only. We have eaten here many times and the food has always been what you would expect from a diner style restaurant. Yesterday like at least once a week I called to order takeout, When the gentleman (and I use that word lightly) answered the phone he was very rude. I asked to place a to go order and was told "We are to busy to mess with to go orders" Well we usually either order out from here or eat in at least once a week. Four of us went to Barrow's for lunch. The restruant was full when we entered with several others waiting. We gave our name and we're seated fairly quickly. We were seated in a comfortable booth. Our drink order was taken quickly and our drinks brought. The menu has a lot of choices. Once we placed our order we didn't have to wait long for our food. The corn chips for the nachos are made from real tortillas, not bagged. The nachos had lots of meat, guacamole, cheese and sour cream. The burgers was juicy and cooked as we ordered it. Love the diner feel and a place that sells pies. We went for breakfast and want to go back for more. Huge portions including bacon and eggs. Lots of very crispy bacon just like my husband requested. Even though they were super busy, a huge party of 30 came in, we were seated pretty quickly. Our server Sarah was beyond sweet. We loved this spot! Conveniently located and with ample parking, we needed to stretch our legs and get some good breakfast after driving 2 hours to get to the area. I'm so glad we stopped here - it was one of the first places that came up on our search when we tried to find a good breakfast spot. This has quickly become our go-to for casual dining since moving to Sonora. The prices are reasonable, the service is really good, and the menu has something for everyone. This is the place you go for a big portion of home cooked food. The ranch is their own recipe, and can be purchased to go. I didn't get a photo of my salad, but it was fresh and had lots of toppings. I wasn't impressed with the mashed potatoes -- they needed more butter and milk, but you can tell they are homemade. This is just my own preference. All our food came as we ordered it -- extra this and that, hold the whatever. Ingredients are generous in that you can easily find lots of bacon and avocado on the burgers, biscuits covered in gravy, and pot pie with chunks of chicken. All food was piping hot and served about 15 minutes after we ordered it. read more
