My husband went in for a consult on Veterans Day and I wanted to get my tongue pierced. I explained and made it clear how I wanted my piercing done. The guy that did it, didn't seem to know what he was doing. Didn't seem like the process was sterile at all.. ON TOP of that..during the process of piercing my tongue, he didn't know to guide me so I can sit where he can make the piercing straight. I came to Columbia for their $13 Black Friday event. I've gotten many piercings before but this was my first time here. The inside is fine, typical tattoo shop, a little rough but no major things. The people who work there are nice. I got 3 piercing piercings, a tragus and two helix in different spots. The piercing process, again, was fine, too be expected. However, now almost 3 weeks after the event I have had problems ever since with my fresh piercings. To tell my story better the piercings were all bar piercings that were VERY short (maybe about 5 or 6mm long) and they all had ball backings instead of flat. Anyways, about a week ago one of the balls came off of my tragus piercing, I thought no big deal it's probably because of me cleaning it and my hair moving it. I couldn't get it back on though due to the fact that the bar was so short that you couldn't see the end of the threading to screw the ball on. I went to Euphoria in the mall where they were able to put another sterile longer flack backed bar into my tragus, the piercer said it was way too short and you couldn't put it back in even if you wanted to. It needs room to swell, hence why you pierce with longer bars. THEN a couple days later, the ball fell off one of my helix piercings, I was really annoyed at this point but luckily I was able to screw that one back on as my ear is naturally thinner there. Finally yesterday, I thought that my other helix ball had fallen off. I was pissed, I went back to Euphoria and told them again (because I had just been there a couple days ago) that I thought the ball had fallen off, we went back to change it... nope, the ball hadn't fallen off.. my skin had GROWN AROUND IT AND IT WAS STUCK INSIDE. The piercer was really nice and used his clean tools to dig out the back out of my ear. It hurt worse than when I got it originally pierced. He was appalled by this. This is why piercings should be pierced with long bars and flat backs due to the fact that your ear can swell and then proceed to grow over it!!!! I'm really glad that I was able to get a replacement piercing but I'm worry for anyone who goes to Columbia to get piercings similar to mine, so be careful! They do not use the correct jewelry to put in a fresh piercing!!! I will not be going back to this establishment because of that reason and I will be warning all of my friends that this could happen and to always look at the jewelry before you are pierced. TL;DR I got 3 piercings and they used very short ball threaded jewelry which then caused them to fall out and/or my skin to grow around and the jewelry had to be DUG OUT OF MY EAR SKIN. I went to Euphoria in the Vancouver mall and they were able to dig it out and replace my piercings with longer bars. End of story do not go to Columbia for piercings. read more

Everywhere else I tried going was going to charge $200-$500 and I had to make an appointment. Walked in told him what I was wanting, he asked me to give him a couple min and sit down. I only went here as a favor to a friend of mine. Her friend Tasha Zuniga is an apprentice here and needed volunteers when she started working on actual people. First of all, the shop is dirty. The floors were covered in grime and the ceiling fan directly above the chair I sat in while getting worked on had large swaths of dust and spider webs hanging from it. The place wasn't sanitary, let alone sterile. Second, rather than being the kind of professional shop that encourages individuality in body art, this one caters to sheep with no imagination. The walls are packed with panels full of the same flash you can find if you type "common boring tattoos" into Google. In fact there was a computer in the "waiting room" that offered almost that very service. But hey if you want to get a Kanji tramp stamp that you think says "Peace and Love" but actually says "Pork Fried Rice," who am I to judge? Lastly, regarding Tasha specifically. She's a flake. No way to get ahold of her except email. I even tried calling the shop and the guy who answered said he couldn't leave her a message. Our first sitting was 3 hours and all she did was the outline of a pretty simple piece that is smaller than the palm of my hand. I know students work slow, so I cut her some slack. But when I got called into work and had to reschedule our second session, when she was supposed to fix some lines that weren't clean and do the shading, things went way south. One month and two emails later she still did not get back to me. She did, just today, post in a Facebook group dedicated to finding her volunteers. When I confronted her there, she banned me from the group. Yay for professionalism! So, now I have the embarrassing task of going to my regular guy and asking him to fix Tasha's lines and do her shading. But, at least I know his shop is clean. read more

I will start off with the good(ish): The deal to bring in your own or select one from the shop in the size of a 2x2 was ideally awesome, however it caused the artists to move slower. The price 31 for that is amazing and 13 for a certain piercing, a total steal. HOWEVER, It took 7 hours from the time that we checked in at 12:47! I was the 13th person on the list with my group. There was a total of 20 getting tattooed that entire day and 13 getting pierced, they would do the piercings in between tattoos. People who came in at 4 got their piercings down before we were even called back for tattoos. My group was the fastest to go it seems. I got called in the middle of my tattoo for my piercing so he circled me to come back and finished the piercings and then finally got to the last person on our group. Coming from another tattoo shop who has their shit together and can get through over 400 people during the same amount of time we spent at Columbia. Some getting multiple too. They turned away more people which they could have easily gotten in to earn money. In all reality with how they did their Friday the 13th, they greatly lost money. read more

I have had several friends go to Steven at Columbia Tattoo to get their work done. Every time has been a marvelous experience. I went with one of my friends to get her name tattooed on her foot (not a great place for a beginner), but Steven was very professional and did a great job. No one has had any issues or complications after his work, and everything healed well. If my sister wouldn't kick my butt if I got a tattoo, I would definitely get it done by Steven. He also has a great tattoo and art portfolio.. if you are looking for some original work on something you want done, I'm sure he would be happy to sketch something up for you. read more

Made an appointment and ended up waiting almost 2 hours past my time because the guy took a walk in and didn't bother to call and give me a heads up. My tattoos were super simple, but the lines still ended up looking jagged and the coverage is blotchy. Unprofessional and not particularly talented. I'm not very upset with the result, but I would never go there again. I would urge others to choose a better shop, especially if you are looking to get a larger piece. DO NOT GO HERE! I went with my friends because one of my friends just got her nose pierced here so I thought I would give this place a shot. We all wanted to get a type ear piercing each. At first I wanted to get the rook piercing on your ear. The guy first of all wasn't very friendly. He said I don't do that type of piercing so I decided to get my cartilage pierced. Both my friends piercing were fine except mine. After a week I decided to get my ear check out by a different piercing shop to get a seconded opinion. I was experiencing more swelling and pain than my friend who got the same piercing as me. I understand each person heals and reacts to piercing differently. I still wanted a seconded opinion and I am so glad I did. Columbia Tattoo and Piercing uses illegal earrings that aren't legal in Oregon also the after care instructions are completely incorrect. My piercing was pierced crooked. The guy who checked out my piercing said that if I had waited 2 more weeks I would have had to get my earring I got from Columbia Tattoo surgically removed because of the illegal earring. I did get this earring taken out and placed another in. My swelling and pain in my ear decrease almost immediately. I will NEVER be going here ever again. I hope this place get's shut down. read more

You know when you look at it and how it makes you feel? That's the energy. They have a nice big lobby where I was able to throw down a blanket and some toys to keep my baby entertained. Their prices are totally reasonable, and their work is all awesome. I got my tongue pierced here for a very reasonable price, and it was good quality too. the over all charge was $30. I looked into a lot of places, and they all were charging from 40 to 70. I havent got any tattoos here, and their sample artwork is not all that great, but ive seen their work on my friend who will not go anywhere else. she has 3 tattoos by them and they all look beautiful. read more

I got a full moon tattoo on the back of my neck from, Tim. He was not friendly AT all. Never checked in the see if I was doing okay, never gave me cleaning instructions, acted very uninvolved with the whole process, and to make it even worse---the Tattoo looks like crap. Not even realistic. Doesn't even look like a moon. How can you do that to people who will have this on their body forever!!!??? I've been waiting to get this tattoo for years. I'm so heartbroken. I will be going to an actual PROFESSIONAL to get it fixed when it heals. I'm sure the shop has better artists, but it wasn't a good experience. Columbia Tattoo is a great place to get your tattoos. I received my first tatt from Omar which turned out great, there after I have gotten 8 more that I have had Steven do. Steven has also done tattoos for all 3 of my daughters. I felt very comfortable there and the guys are awesome. To let you all know this is an older building so it is not going to look like the Hilton, so if you are getting a Tattoo to brag about what it looks like inside then you won't want to go there but if you are looking for great work than this is the place for you. So,.. this so called lady, we will just call her Z, if it was that dirty why stay to get anything done or even want to go back? Also to Z the pics inside the room where they do the Tattoos are drawn up special for there clients, then they hang them to show the work they have done and perhaps someone would get some ideas from them. I know, because these guys have drawn up all 9 of mine and they are amazing .They do have the first room as you walk in, that does have your typical pictures hanging and on poster boards.to give a person ideas that are not sure what they want. It's a small shop, I feel the atmosphere could be a bit better. The staff was not overly friendly but they weren't unfriendly either. It could have been because they were busy, which is a good sign. I wound up getting my tattoo here and it turned out great. The tattoo artist did great work and gave me a great price. I really enjoyed seeing the artists personal work on the walls as well. read more
