Very disappointed in Dana Vargas. She takes months to respond to emails, booked her to finish a tattoo that just needed color. Said it would only take 3 hours but felt rushed, face color was orange & white (not skin tone), moon looks the color of my skin & there is no shading or details or continuity. Said she would do a touch up for free and took 2 months to respond to my email. She doesn't have a phone number listed & shop she works out of aren't helpful in having her call back. When she finally responded 2 months later, she only offered me an appt for 3 times/days that didn't work with my work schedule. I emailed her back a week later (my grandma had just died) and here it is 3 weeks later and still no response. This was done in November 2024 & here we are in February 2025 and still no response from her. Very disappointing. I do not recommend this artist or shop. read more

I just have to say that Lilith is awesome, and was able to help me out. Ascending Lotus Tattoo has great staff. I could hear when she answered the phone that she is SMILING and HAPPY to be there to do everything she could to answer my million questions. Lilith you are always going to do well life working with the public as long as you have the same attitude, and outlook on life! We all have good and bad days.Just remember to love life and the second you don't find yourself :) happy find a new home where you can be happy. i used to highly recommend this place to EVERYONE. and Olivia Bonebreak for sure. i had such a awful experience over all now. my ink wasn't staying in my skin, i take EXTREMELY GOOD care of my skin and tattoos. i brought it up that my ink was falling out. every time asking if maybe she could go deeper. she told me it was her machine. but every time? i told her i didn't feel the price was worth the quality. prices ALL over the place. i went to her asking for my free touch up that i was promised. she told me i missed appointments which NEVER happened. i'm pissed i don't recommend this place to anyone. save your money and find someone else. i am always honest. i was very loyal to her. my tattoos are all less than a year old. i am not going to support her or this place. she was rude when i went to her and then ignored me when i said i was being honest instead of just going to someone else. cover ups are now being done. waste of time and money. read more

I really loved the shop and everybody was so sweet! I have worked with Lillith when she was at a different shop and Ascending Lotus is a million times better! it's cute, it's clean, it's cozy, and everybody is friendly! Lillith does great work but is pretty unprofessional which is understandable since she's still in her early career stages. She's heavy handed but the end result is beautiful. However, i've noticed she has deadline issues so if you don't mind taking awhile and being proactive and asking for things when you need them then she's perfect for you! She didn't send me the sketch when she said she would and so i asked for it a couple hours before my session to approve it. It wasn't anything i imagined so i asked her to change it which pushed my appointment back an hour which was annoying. She should've sent the picture the day before like she said she would. Then she took an hour to set up her station which in my other experiences it never took that long with other artists. During my tattoo she stopped and talked to another potential client which was frustrating bc i was laying on the table paying for her full attention and it was concerning to me that she wasn't focused on my piece while she was holding a tattoo gun to my ribs. she should've asked the other clients to come back when she was finished with her current job. If she was more professional i would definitely return but my experience was not great. read more

I've always heard and read great things about Ascending Lotus, but I'd never even seen their shop until yesterday while driving around town. I'm a tattoo fan, so I kinda pay attention to shops...and this one was definitely a hidden diamond in the rough! My five year old has been asking to get her ears pierced for a while now so I figured I'd take her in to a licensed professional piercer (rather than the mall shops) to look around, check out the jewelry, talk to the piercer, and really get a feel for what all is involved and make sure this is something she truly wanted to do. Courtnie Ashley was absolutely AMAZING. I don't know if she has kids of her own but this gal had the most patient, kind, encouraging, and compassionate "bedside manner" I think I have ever seen. She knew exactly how to help my daughter stay calm and reassure her that it was "going to be okay". She didn't try to up-sell me on the more expensive jewelry, yet took the time to explain all the different options and make suggestions for which pair of earrings would be best for my daughter's age and maturity. (My daughter initially wanted the expanders...but we ended up compromising on an adorable pair of pink crystal flower studs. ) I HIGHLY recommend Ascending Lotus and Courtnie if you want to get your child's ears pierced. You will NOT be disappointed. I can't speak for the tattoo work or any of the adult piercing because I haven't used those services yet, but based on my first experience here I guarantee I will be back to check them out for future work. Courtney did great with my helix piercing. I was wanting my 3rd hole in my earlobe re-pierced. It has a lot of built up scar tissue. She was willing to re-pierce it but it was more important to her to have me informed that it wasn't the best idea and gave me other options versus getting the sale. I'd trust her again. I stopped in this shop a few weeks back to look for plugs - I had bought a crappy starter set from amazon and kept losing pieces, it was driving me nuts. The lady who runs it whose name I've now forgotten is so sweet but two things made me respect the hell out of this shop: - When I asked about something specific, she without hesitation recommended stuff for me that she didn't carry instead of trying to push me to buy something she did. - I told her I was losing jewelry and she told me how she keeps hers in and she put in some extra bands just in case. (She was right - use a size smaller rubber band - I haven't lost a band since I went there) - The jewelry selection is small but really nice, I went to 3 well known Portland places and found nothing I liked but got 2 pairs here that I really like. I've gotten all my tattoos from one of those giant bearded libertarian metal head kind of dudes you picture when you think of a tattoo artist. Within the week I received a message from the owner after my first review. She seemed very friendly, and hoped I will give her shop another chance in the future. While I don't know if I will get that chance since I get new pieces of jewelry just every two years or so, I would definitely look into booking an actual appointment with the owner herself in the future when the time comes. read more

Stopped by for Nose Piercing Part 2: The Reckoning (aka, got my nose re-pierced). I was a walk-in, but I was greeted and made to feel welcome quickly. After filling out the necessary paperwork we got underway with the piercing itself. I was a little nervous because I had heard rumors that piercing scar tissue could hurt - bad. But Courtnie, my piercer extraordinaire, put me at ease. Then after just a couple short minutes I was good to go! Seriously, I loved this place and I plan on going back for more, holes & ink...And, probably some jewelry. Also, I should probably mention the shop was super clean and sterile without that super sterile/hospital feeling. The atmosphere was comfy and relaxed. I worked closely with Rachelle to get my tattoo just the way I wanted and so far it has turned out great (we're only in stage one of two). Had Courtnie pierce my conch yesterday and I can't stop looking at it. Seriously, I can't get anything done without stopping to look in the mirror. My boss is pissed. I might lose my job. Still don't care. My ear looks wicked. Its perfect placement and angle complement my other piercings even more than I had imagined. Beyond her clear skill, she's an insanely comfortable person to be around. Her bedside manner is reflective of a friend you've known for years. I must say, Courtnie has got to be the best damn piercer in the business. I came to Ascending Lotus about 6 months ago after reading the rave reviews here on Yelp. Courtnie took her time to find out exactly what I wanted and also made solid recommendations when I asked. She is extremely detail-oriented which is something that I look for in someone who is putting pretty permanent holes in my body. She made sure that I checked, re-checked, and triple checked the spot placement before proceeding to the piercing. The final product was a perfectly placed conch piercing (blue arrow in the picture). I was so impressed with Courtnie that I've returned to her to complete my ear piercing vision. Today she pierced 3 of the 10 new piercings I'll be getting done by her in the next several months (red arrows in the picture). Just as before, she was patient and helpful in making recommendations so that my healing process will be as comfortable as possible. Her room and process was clean and sanitary, and her bedside manner is too notch!! I am SO happy with my piercings and I look forward to finishing my vision with Courtnie. This place is a gem to find. I saw this little shop while getting parts for our boat and over heard that it was run and operated by all women. This interested me right off the bat because I knew I wanted my first tattoo in a more privet spot just below my boob on my rib and I felt that while there are many great male tattoo artists out there I wanted a female to do this. Mostly because getting your first tattoo can already be a nerving experience with mixed emotions being excited and and scared about how your body will handle the pain... I felt is be more comfortable around a female. My tattoo artist was Olivia. She was very helpful and informative. She didn't put down and of my idea and in the end she suggested to make it a little bigger which ultimately made the tattoo feel less squished. The pain was almost nothing and she was very reassuring. The tattoo came out beautifully. The line work is smooth. Can't wait to see it after it's completely healed. Everyone's portfolio brought their own style and had beautiful work and I felt I could of gotten my tattoo by any one of the ladies. But I'm super glad it was with Olivia, I felt like we liked similar things and she was a kindred spirit that I can easily see myself growing with as she expands her talents and I expand my collection of art. Courtney pierced mine and my friends nose today and she did a great job of making us not nervous we had a great time she gave me great tips on placement because it was a second nose piercing for me it was only 40 bucks with a tip included and she even switched out my other piercing for free!
