This place has always done right by me and I'll come back the next time I have a tire issue. 5 Stars And a few more things: No appointments. It's first come, first served. They take cash or credit. I've never had to wait more than 20 minutes to be seen, even on a busy day. I had a nail removed and patched last year and it only cost $20. Prices are reasonable and very competitive.

Don't go to the alignment shop next door…read more Dude claimed I needed new tire rods to do my alignment, which he then replaced. Fine with that. Had my alignment done twice here since after the first alignment it was still pulling to the left. Was still pulling to left after two alignments so took to another mechanic to have it looked at thinking it may be a bigger issue. New mechanic said it wasn't done properly after he put my car on a lift and drove it. Mechanic at Browns left a bolt unattached on one of my new tire rods which is dangerous. Also never fixed my alignment issue. Have also had a tire bolt broken off at the tire shop next to the alignment shop. They miss threaded the bolt back on causing it to break. Didn't tell me, just hid it and had to find out months later. Used to love this place and support, but now my car is getting damaged and I was allowed to drive off in an unsafe fix after spending a bunch of money!

However, any mechanical repair is extremely expensive. I received an estimate to change the sway away bars, rear suspension/rear shock absorbers and change the tripods for close to $1,500. I found a local small shop mechanic that did it for less than $700. Also, on another vehicle, the horn wasn't working, so Oxford gave me an estimate to fix it for $450. I reviewed YouTube videos and was able to fix it myself, since the problem was simply that the ground cable was not making contact. Bought a 2' copper cable, changed the horn and changed the plug, all for less than $60. Yes, $450 vs $60. Again, I don't think they are bad mechanics, but way too pricey. Won't go back.

After pulling my car into the bay, Rob noticed a couple noises and offered to check them out at no extra charge. That extra attention uncovered several issues I never would have known to ask about. I'm extremely disappointed writing this…read more Over the years, I've been recommended by several people to John's Tires & Brakes because they were always friendly and made customers feel like family. They would offer rides, snacks, and made the experience feel personal. Because of that, there was a lot of trust built. Unfortunately, someone very close to me recently discovered that multiple repairs done here were either poorly completed or failed far sooner than they should have. Spark plugs that were replaced last May (with only about 5,000 miles driven since) were already completely fried, despite typically lasting much longer. Wiring that was replaced just last month also needs to be redone because it's damaged. On top of that, another mechanic showed that the welding work done on the muffler/exhaust was poorly done and may have contributed to further damage, including the catalytic converter needing replacement. I strongly encourage anyone getting major repairs here to seek a second opinion.
