3500 bucks, he was replacing a gasket and performing a full service. Two rides later the exhaust bent, cracked, and blew out the back of my exhaust manifold. I had to park the bike because me and my wife are the sole caregivers of a terminally ill family member. We couldn't afford any more money out of pocket for the bike and especially seeing as how I've already been out of work for almost 2 years to do this caregiving. I saved up and bought a new set of pipes. So I went to of course do the job myself this time take the old pipes off and they were literally finger tight, the covers were all not on properly and half on and just wedged in place not to mention all my fluids looked like they came over on the Mayflower they're all burnt and discolored and this bike was not driven at all. He just did garbage work. Hacked and jammed things together. Honestly, everything I'm finding as I'm doing this job I'm disgusted by the work that he did. And before he says anything no I didn't owe him any money he got paid upfront and this is the work that he did so he'll definitely do you dirty don't bring your bike there bring it anywhere but Comanche Custom Cycles. read more

Comanche Cycles is the only place I take my Harleys to. After multiple issues with the dealership, I stopped by to see if Comanche could help me out. Vince couldn't have been more helpful. His staff are professional, through, and extremely knowledgeable. They are a very popular shop and they might be booked up for a couple weeks. But they are worth waiting for to get the job done right the first time. With the high turnover of mechanics at some dealerships, why gamble with your bike and your safety with someone that is going to learn at your expense? Great service, good communication, fair price and work completed in the time frame discussed. I have a 2007 FXDB that I originally took to the HD dealer for a fluid change only to discover that the primary chain tensioner had failed. Instead of going down the OEM path I wanted to go with an open belt drive and was referred to Comanche. After meeting with Vince I decided to roll the dice, he went and picked up the bike since the primary was already torn down. I was one of those customers who had an idea of what I wanted but not a super clear vision. After some discussion and consultation with Vince we concluded to add foot clutch, jockey shift and surprisingly backdating the paint. Up front it was understood that I was in no hurry, i'm a firm believer that custom work shouldn't be rushed. A few months later I got my bike back and after a fair amount of seat time I can say the result was the right decision. Clutch is smooth, shifter is balanced, the dry clutch and belt drive sound great. I can totally recommend this shop. read more

Brought my FLHTCU in due to oil pressure and leak issues. Vince and his team was very diligent in their investigations into the several issues I was having. They told me what I needed to do, what I could put off, and did so in a timely manner (despite having a pretty good amount of bikes in the shop). The shovel Bobber I'm building just refuses to let me get beyond the starter, solenoid, relay, xxxing issue. Last time I visited Vince, Evan was nice enough to tell me "AGAIN" what to do... even took a picture of his drawing for the wires. WTF, mine just won't turn over. So, I have brought many riding bros to Comanche, Bruce/Paul/Wayne ++, and whenever I run to Sturgis, I bring my bagger in for their expert once over. My main Harley which I have had since 2001 has never run better. The shop is amazing and the guys are great. A very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere unlike most HD shops. If you live in the Ventura County area or west side of San Fernando Valley area you should stop in, you will not regret it. Vince is a stand up guy. Let me know what I needed to do when I initially bought my 1992 Heritage Softail and what I could put off for a few months. I brought my bike back to have my engine rebuilt, suspension redone, and everything in between to make the bike as up to date as it can be. First time there today and now a life long customer. I needed to get my 30,000 mile service done, and since I dont have a garage or place to do it myself, I had to actually have it done. Ive spoken with a few of the guys from Comanche over the years while actually at the dealership I use while picking up parts or what have you so Comanche has been on my mind for at least 3 years but had not had a reason until now. Now you have my condensed back story ( yes it got worse but hey this aint about me...) on WHY I finally got my ass to this shop of awesome. I was greeted and treated with respect and nothing but friendliness and that alone goes a long way with me. I live local ...withing 15 miles anyway so the ride was to short but a ride is a ride for me so that was the only bummer goin there. HA. LONG story short, What I got was WAY more than what I was expecting since I didnt mention what I had already done not so long ago...out of the normal maintenance schedule...Bad bike owner I know... and was actually surprised they did it without hesitation. Normal thing for them to do what needs to be done I find by talking to some of their regulars. Surprised and pleased. Now I dont have to worry about it for a couple more years. And BEST part the whole thing....The quoted price was much less than discussed. I cant say enough good things about what I experienced today...Ive been to Indy shops that the owners are just jack asses or I got treated poorly because I wast there to drop 5 grand on work or something. Not at Comanche. Im sure there are those times when They may have to pump the chest up a bit but thats to be expected in business and I understand that but Here...customers are treated as they should be...with respect and great customer service. OH the only other bummer....He was out of shirts. Id be more than happy to sport some free advertisement for them on my clothing. I hope they get some soon. I commented a week ago on Comanche cycle working on my motorcycle for all the last years. He added new shocks on my last trip and what a difference it made. Vince had said you need to change out the back shocks and your Harley immediately. I rode it for 3 years with stock shocks and after putting the new shocks on the back road 100% better. read more

BUYER BEWARE: I recently bought a 1962 FL Panhead from Comanche. I rode that bike about 100 miles before it blew a head gasket. I took the bike to a seasoned Harley mechanic who DOES know what he's doing. First report was that Comanche failed to torque the head bolts on the damaged head in question (he told me one of the bolts was only finger tight). Final report was that the damaged head was beyond repair. The problem wasn't consequential to the head gasket blowing, but the head had a pre-existing crack that ran all the way from the valve seat through a bolt insert (one used for torquing the head to the cylinder) and to the exterior spigot. The valve seat even had a spot weld where the crack started in order to hold the valve seat in place. When I talked with Vince about this he told me he bought the motor from a company back East somewhere and was deeply sorry for my trouble. Well, Comanche had the top end disassembled when I first examined the bike before purchasing. What one might ask one's self is this: Why did Comanche fail to see that crack when they had that top end disassembled? Doesn't that beg the question as to their mechanical capabilities? And if they did see it, why did they bolt on that useless head and sell it off? Doesn't that beg the question as to their business ethic? I did post a lengthy report on Comanche earlier with these facts and a host of other blunders that Comanche managed concerning the bike they sold to me. But I do believe I owe it to the public to give a potential buyer something to think about before purchasing a motorcycle from Comanche. I had to replace the heads on the bike they sold me--after only 100 miles--and I had to replace the pipes to fit the new heads. I'm into the repairs for $5,300. I hope this helps. One more thing: When I posted the first report, one of Comanche's buddies who posted a five star rating reposted his feedback ahead of mine to try and mitigate the value of my feedback. Pay attention to the posting dates. Addendum: We now discovered an electrical problem with the bike they sold me. It's obvious why they unloaded it. . . They were probably going bald from scratching their heads trying to figure out how to fix it. I guess I should be grateful they didn't try to fix the problem. The only temporary success they accomplished was duping a buyer. But every dog will have his day. . . Oh, if for whatever reason you decide to have them wire your bike, try to remember to ask them not to drill holes in your frame, unless, of course, you're planning on replacing your frame. The list goes on and on. read more

I've been to several shops to have my various motorcycles repaired or 'enhanced' over 15 years. I think many of you can relate to my opinion, but 90% of motorcycle mechanics have a huge chip on their shoulder. Their attitudes are amazing to me, as if I'm lucky they're even talking to me...and if I'm really lucky they'll work on my bike. Not so with Comanche. I've been there on four separate occasions and I've always been treated fairly, they did the work I wanted, did a great job, it was done quickly and I was charged a fair price. I bought a used V-twin bike from another dealer that had a lot of problems even though they said it didn't. That dealer couldn't fix my bike so they sent it to Comanche to be fixed. Comanche did me right and fixed ALL the problems including the ones the other dealer conveniently overlooked in the safety check on my bike. Vince and the guys will not let you go with a unsafe bike. I took my 2006 Street Glide in to have the cam chain tensioner upgrade done. I mentioned to Vince that I had also previously had the bike dyno tuned by a supposedly reputable shop in Ventura. However, the bike had a loud backfire when I rolled off the throttle. Vince said to bring in the tuner and let him see what he could do with it. After they completed all the work and I picked my bike up, I was amazed on my ride home. It was like having a new bike. No more backfiring and the ride felt smooth and quiet.
