If you're anything like me, reviews seriously matter before making a purchase so I'm here to give you the full picture of my 5-star rating of Whitney's services. I reached out to Whitney on Wednesday of this week and she picked up the phone right away. We did a quick phone consultation and discussed my fairly prominent scoliosis and the pain points that I have all throughout my neck, back, and hips as a result of the scoliosis. Whitney shared with me that she's worked with several others with a similar diagnosis, and she warned me that in order to yield the best results for our first session, it was going to be less about relaxation and more about working out the kinks, which I was ALL for. I'm fairly active, I was a gymnast for about 13 years, and I was obviously born with this problem, so you can imagine that there's a LOT to work out in my back. We then set an appointment for Friday morning (only two days later) at my apartment (house calls!!!). Whitney arrived on Friday morning and I could sense really positive energy from her. I could tell that she was genuinely excited by another scoliosis challenge, and we got to work right away. Y'all - when I tell you this was unlike ANY other therapy that I've ever had, I'm not exaggerating one bit. Whitney spent 2.5 HOURS with me working out kinks in my neck, shoulders, back, spine, hips, AND THEN continuing onto outer glutes, hamstrings, calves, ankles, then flipping over for upper pecks, arms, writs, hands, quads, shins, and feet. When Whitney finished, I felt like I was legitimately floating. My brain was foggy (in a good way), my limbs felt like jello, and I was feeling pretty beat up in the absolute best way possible. Whitney took some pictures of her progress throughout and my back looked unrecognizable to me. No more Quasimodo hunchback on my right side! Of course, I'll need more sessions with her to continue progressing toward a healthier body, but I was absolutely not expecting just how much progress we'd make in one session. I flew into Miami this weekend for a conference feeling like garbage. I got no sleep the night before my travels and no sleep on the actual plane, and I also had done a really heavy deadlift session the night before. I did research and found this place online and was intrigued by all the 5 star reviews, so gave it a shot. Whitney was able to squeeze me in during the afternoon, and I decided to do a 2 hour session since I was really beat up. Straight to the point: It was amazing. The actual room was calm, clean, and comfortable, and Whitney is kind person. But more importantly, she is really strong. I'm a 225lb powerlifter and boxer, and she was able to penetrate my muscles easily, and she did such an awesome job straddling that fine line between "therapeutic" and relaxing. The whole experience was so calm and rejuvenating, and by the end of the session, I had shaken out the aches, pains and "crunchiness" from sitting on the plane and lifting hard the previous days. I can say without a doubt that If I were to move to Miami, she would be my "go-to" masseuse that I'd be seeing every week. Whitney's hands and massage are pure magic. She has a gift and I'm glad she's using it. I get massages not as a treat but as a way to alleviate the chronic pain and tension in my neck and back. Whitney and I discussed my problem areas and the type of massage I'm looking for before the first session. She knows what she's doing and goes out of her way to alleviate any tissue buildup, knots and alignment issues. She's skilled at identifying (or sensing) the problem areas and does a great job at talking you through the steps when necessary. Those with similar issues know that this type of massage can be somewhat uncomfortable (relax, it's not unbearable) at first, but well worth it given the lasting benefits after the initial session. Make sure to hydrate after (I do an epsom salt/baking soda bath the same day if time permits). Something that sets Whitney apart from other therapists I've seen, aside from her effectiveness, is her compassion and genuine desire to help those in pain. This past week I played a ton of tennis and one night I slept on my right shoulder. I woke up and I had great deal of tightness on the back of my shoulder. She started working on my upper back and shoulder for well over 30 minutes. It was a deep massage and eventually my tightness in the upper back and shoulder loosen up. After the shoulder work Whitney focused on the legs and calves. I was very tight but again I relaxed and loosen up. Whitney knows exactly what she is doing in terms of massage. Whitney finished with a foot massage working on the bottoms of both feet for quite a long time. Really excellent experience here. Went to see Whitney about my shoulder which was so tight it was interfering with sleep. She proved to be a consummate professional and really knowledgeable about the craft. She immediately knew to check for trigger points in the scalenes- the smaller muscles of the neck, which can drag the first rib up. She also knew, without my telling her, to check for trigger points in the armpit, something which I've admittedly struggled with in the past, to further free up the chest space. All finer points that I learned from having been through really good physical therapy (Coral Way, downtown Miami, University of Miami Hospital) in the past, but that only a true professional could know. She's very clear on the musculature, calling it by name. Understands about adhesions, fascia, etc. Very very good range of knowledge, as opposed to some senseless hacks you can go to who will be massaging a major artery because they haven't really studied human anatomy and the muscles within the body. On my way out I saw her diplomas and certificates on the wall. She studied at a school in North Florida that I hear is very good. One of the best physical therapists I was formerly seeing went there and listed it as one of the most defining experiences of her life, that opened her to a life of helping others etc. Supposedly they provide a very superior education. Aside from her knowledge what I most appreciated about Whitney was her personality. It's just really soothing and mellow, very mature. Super easy to talk to and jive with and genuinely concerned. I'd rate her as having the most attractive personality of any massage professional I've had the privilege of dealing with, and I've dealt with a lot. Another great point about her, she offers tips about stretches and tools you can use at home to self massage and strengthen yourself. Do some sort of upkeep, so you're not constantly running back. Major plus in my book. The location itself was clean and comfortable with convenient free parking across the street. I have never met a therapist as knowledgeable and thorough as Whitney. I was in search of a Therapist that can give me a post-op lymphatic drainage massage because I had gotten surgery done and it was mandatory for me to have post-op massages. I first went to an Asian lady at a massage place and she told me she was educated on this stuff and began to give me a massage. It was done very rough, she also didn't seem to know what she was doing, when I asked her questions she could not help me understand what she was doing and why it was hurting so bad.
