Absolutely horrendous experience. We initially worked with Matthew who was responsive and a great communicator. We stored the majority of our household goods for 18 months while we relocated from Austin to Houston and were building a new home. When time came for delivery, I learned Matthew was no longer with the company, so we dealt with Rachel. She says she is an owner. She is a horrible communicator and the moving people which consisted of a very old man and teenagers damaged more of our items than I can write about. The biggest was a refrigerator we bought from Costco for $4000 one-year prior. When they delivered it, the compressor was not functioning. They claimed zero responsibility. Then when the delivered or household goods, 1/3rd of our items were missing. Scott told us he would investigate and let us know later that evening. I never heard from him. Three days later and several voice mails left, I hear back that they found our items and would bring them soon. More hounding and we received the rest of our furniture. The reality is this company uses young kids as labor, and they simply are not as careful loading and unloading. Scott while nice is too old and crippled to be doing the work he does (that is my observation). Finally, when unpacking we found wrapped broken items. Meaning they were broken while being packed and they hid it from us. I am kicking myself for entrusting this company and would NEVER recommend them. read more

We were prepared to move, with all items in boxes and only big furniture left to move. The loading end of the move should have gone quickly. We were charged for a 3 man crew. The first two movers were a little late, which wasn't that big of a deal. But the 3rd person was an hour and a half late load the truck and was not there to unload and reassemble. So we paid a full day for 3 people and only had 3 people for a couple hours. The other workers spoke openly about going to bars the night before, getting kicked out of bars, and getting in a fight at the hotel. It was obviously they were not at 100%. At the end of the move they wanted to charge us for additional time it took to move. We had a large gun safe to move, which we mentioned during our initial conversations for a quote. On move day we were told it would be an additional $500 charge for the safe, which was not included in the original quote. When we reached the reassemble stage for the safe we discovered there was damage to the safe, which we were not told about by the movers, we found the broken parts left on the move truck during a final check. The company did not charge us for moving the safe and informed us they would not pay to fix the damage. We ordered pizza for the two movers who were unloading at our house. They left pizza crusts and trash in front of our house in the street... addItionally we found vomit in one of our trash cans. The movers did not fully reassemble the refrigerator and left it out of place, requiring us to do it our self. On the unload /reassemble side my boyfriend and I i worked along side the movers when it became clear they were not going to get it done themselves... if we wanted to move ourselves we wouldn't have hired someone. Each of these things individually could have been overlooked but together it made it a bad experience. Especially when we sent pictures and information to the owner who did not offer to fix the safe. We went with this company based on the great reviews, but that just wasn't our experience. They were significantly less expensive, but we would have paid more for better service. They took the entire six hours I booked them for to load my stuff in the truck and stole a box of alcohol for my bar that was priced somewhere between $400-$500. When it came to unloading my thing they started moving one box at a time obviously eating up more time because at that point they were charging $180hr. These so called movers moved me a year ago. When I told the owner (Matthew) that slot of things were missing (digital camera, flatware that was purchased in England(partially missing, etc.), he said he personally checked the truck and there wasn't any thing in it. I know for a fact that the crew that moved me was going to another job in Amarillo so of course none of my things were there. They were in a big hurry to unload my things because there was some kind of car show they wanted to get to. When it came time to pay they charged me an extra $1,000 than what I was quoted. When I told Matthew that these items were missing he said that if they had to come find them in my house I would be charged another $1,000 if they found them. When I told him I didn't have another $1,000 he just sort of chuckled and that was the last time I spoke with him. The reason I am just now posting this review is because I am just now getting unpacked completely to make sure the missing items were still missing. I was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis just before the move. I couldn't hold my head up and it attacks the muscles so I was very weak. I couldn't keep track of what they were doing. mid March 2022 I hired these guys to move me. I was originally told they would arrive to the home I was moving to between 12 and 2 PM. Then it was changed to 3:30 then 4:30 then 5:30. They finally arrived at. 6:30 PM. they began unloading and basically dumped everything where ever they wanted totally disregarding pleas to put things where they were asked. At 9:30 they said they were done and wanted their check for $2,500. We asked about assembling the beds, putting doors on the refrigerator, hooking up the ice maker all of which had not been done. They replied it was too late (which was their fault) and if they did they would charge me an additional $150 per hour. One of them wreaked of smoking pot They left with everything a mess and incomplete. The next day I called Mathew and complained, I was told what great guys they were and how they had gone out of their way "to help me out". I told him I considered them a bunch of crooks. I had to hire more movers and handy men to complete the job they did not complete. One of the reasons I hired these guys is they claimed to be veterans and Christians. Nothing could be further from the truth and that is disgusting. If you want to have a moving experience where truth and customer service are non-existent, the work is unreliable, sloppy, and inconsiderate, hire these totally unprofessional guys. read more

I would never use this company again. They broke my TV, my coffee table, and a piece of my desk is missing. I filed a claim with the owner and they referred me to the small print that stated they are not responsible for TV's. They arrived late with 2 men and said the other was not responding to their calls. Finally 2 more kids showed and it took them over 12 hours which they still had to come back another day (3-days later to finish). The boxes were just thrown in the garage. Gave us a quote that was reasonable, not the lowest, but we were compelled by the quickness in which they could move us. 300 mile move with no packing services requested. Gave us a window when would arrive to load us up, arrived at the very end of this. Gave us a time in which they would show up the next day to unload, just over an hour late. We had a very specific schedule and we asked them what would work with them so we could make final arrangements with the times they could do. They couldn't follow through with their own timing. Dented washer/dryer, fridge and a door jam took a pretty good hit from these guys. All said and done the end part was the most frustrating. Jeremiah, the lead driver/mover told us it would be an additional $450. He stated this was a destination travel charge. Unacceptable. Spoke with Matthew about this a couple days after the move and he stated he needed to reach out to Jeremiah to see what this was about. Over a week and Matthew will not return a single call. Finally spoke with him and stated additional charge was now because they needed to use a bigger truck. Why wasn't this communicate to us before hand to be professional? After again no follow up when we questioned this reason, we asked to speak with owner. Owners story was now because the new residence had a second story. We have moved quite a bit through the years and this company and crew were the least professional and we have never had a price discrepancy as such. Do not recommend. I can't appreciate them enough for squeezing me in like that and they were professional and took great care of the safe and the house to prevent any damage. Matt gave me a a 'whole home' moving quote and it was very accurate and less $ than the other two moving companies I had provide a quote for my move from Dallas to San Antonio. Rustin and his lively crew were fun to work with and did a great job loading / unloading / setting up, etc. None of my furniture was damaged and the team was punctual on both ends. Moving is usually very stressful but Rustin and team had a great attitude / work ethic and kept things moving quickly thereby making the overall move much less stressful. This company is a joke. They are not professional movers. They cant even pack things the right way without you having to look for things. Instwad of leaving cords on the tvs they take them off and pack them in boxes not even marked. They broke 4 of my rolling cabinets whicj i sent them pictures of them. Was completely impressed with Matt when I called for our initial estimate. The guys were prompt and friendly. However, there was another man "added" the day of our move, which of course increased our rate and was not disclosed during the quote. It appeared they did a great job wrapping, and packing, but when we got to our new home we started to uncover lots of damage. There was also another two men "added" upon our arrival unloading, again increasing cost. The foreman took a total of $200 off our move for "damage incurred", but that didn't even come close to covering replacements. Our couch has a broken support beam, the bedroom mirror was damaged when it was screwed back in too far, my child's motorized vehicle was destroyed, other wooden furniture was nicked or scratched, we had numerous pictures damaged and a large stained glass feature broken. Our overall cost was $1000 over our quote, even with all of the damage! When I attempted to call Matt afterwards, I got no answer and no return phone call. Very upset! Stay far, far away from this company!!!! They cut me a deal by not charging me for the hours that their employees had a fight at my house. One of the employees was verbally rude towards me (the home owner), then only some of my items showed up to the new destination, the fridge had a giant dent in it...and after all of this I was given a list of excuses, and the discount deal of only having to pay the quoted price, and not the additional hours the employees spent fighting. They moved me (4 bedroom home) from San Antonio to Leander and really cannot say enough good things about them. I am extremely satisfied at the level of professionalism and customer service provided by Come and Take It Moving. Not only did they do a great job, they were also very honest in their work. I had to move my father's home from Lubbock to Houston without being able to be in Lubbock for the pack and load. They packed everything in a way to save me as much money as possible. They could have taken advantage of my lack of knowledge in the "moving field" to nickel and dime me out of more money but when they were finished l, I was pleasantly surprised that their final cost was well below the original estimate. Used their services twice on a move across texas. The first time they were on point and busting ass! The second time with different dudes moving me I experienced some inexperience along with pure laziness by one of them. Oh and when the lazy one did try to pick up something to move it he would bang it off the wall a few times staggering around like an idiot. He also could not seem to wrap up the furniture at all...a 5 year old could've done better. However, if it was not for the one guy on the team that busted his tail i do not think my stuff would have made it. Were there dents, scratches and stains on my furniture when they were done? Answer=Yes! They were sweating excessively while we moved and it was getting all over my couch cushions, bed and other belongings. Come on use a towel or something! Its not that hard to keep one in the truck. Also, take a bath for crying out loud. It might benefit come tip time! Cheaper than competition and work out of Bull Dog Storage which was the best deal in Cedar Park for storage. I cannot recommend these guys enough. I priced about 15 movers in both Corpus Christi and Austin, and Come and Take It came in with the lowest quote. Rustin and the office were communicative and organized. Eddie, who managed my move, was a doll. Very personable, worked hard, very upfront on timing (they charge by the hour), and gave me a break when my time went a little over. The salesman and the movers were very friendly and nice however I wouldn't recommend this company unless you have money to burn past what you were quoted. At the end of the job I was left paying $1200 more than the quote they added and extra person and when I asked about it they said aren't you glad we planned ahead. My budget wasn't set for that and I felt the purposely packed slowly and re packed things that were already packed to make the time slower. My girlfriend hired this moving company to move all of her belongings from her old house to her new house in Austin. The moving contract was to include the following services : 1) Packing everything professionally 2) Loading it all into their 40 foot moving truck 3) Storing the packed items in the truck 4) Transporting it all to her new house in Austin with a promised ETA of 7:00 AM 5) Unloading the 40' truck and moving the packed items into her Austin house 6) Help us unpack the boxes and and make sure that everything was moved into the correct rooms 7) Assemble beds and any other items that were disassembled for the move 8) Remove all of the packing boxes, packing paper, etc. We were not present when the old house was packed as we were in Austin finalizing the details for the purchase of her new house in Austin. However her 83 year old mother was present at the old house when it was packed for the upcoming move. This is a three bedroom two living room house but the movers were given photos of the rooms in the house and were instructed to leave the furnishings in one of the bedrooms and one of the living rooms as the photos clearly indicated. They were also supposed to clearly mark each packing box indication what was in each box and which room that they came from. She talked to her mom after the movers had finished packing the old house and was advised that there was still a lot of stuff that had not been moved. She did tell us that five men had showed up for the move and did indeed bring the 40' truck but just left all of this stuff and they did not even try to contact her to let her know that they did not pack everything that they were contracted to move. So the two of us drove to the old house. To call it a lot of stuff was not an exaggeration. All of the plants were there, some of the smaller furniture items, some boxes, and much more. With a 40' truck, there should have been plenty room to pack everything including all of the left behind stuff. There probably would have been room to pack everything if it were not for all of the boxes of packing paper which took up a lot of room. I have a full sized pickup with a full length bed. We filled the pickup with all of the stuff that they left behind, and had to make a second trip just to get the rest of the stuff. She had a 55 gallon aquarium sitting on a heavy duty table. The movers said that they could not move the aquarium but that they would use the 5 man crew to move it down onto the floor and that they would load the table into the moving truck. They did neither of the things, so the two of us had to do it ourselves and move the aquarium and the table. Now let's look at the other end of the move into her Austin house. We were both there when the moving truck arrived at noon, five hours behind the 7:00 AM ETA that they promised. No apologies for being so late. Some of the packing boxes were labelled properly but many were not. The big furniture items such as beds, tables, etc. were moved to the rooms where they belonged. But when they started moving the boxes into the house, they made no attempt to move them into the rooms where they belonged. They just found an empty place to put them and stacked them up as high as they could. Nor did they offer to help unpack the boxes as they were being paid to do. They seemed to be in a hurry because they showed up five hours late. They just wanted to get everything out of the truck and into the house so that they could leave and consider their job to be complete. They finished unloading their truck around 3:00 pm, then spent some time cleaning out their truck with apparently no thought of helping us unload the boxes. So then we had to complete the movers jobs ourselves, something that they were getting paid to do. When we started unpacking the kitchen boxes, we found that they had used 3 or 4 sheets of wrapping paper to wrap a wine glass it coffee cup and this was typical. By the time we finished unpacking, there was a mountain of used packing paper and dozens of used packing boxes. We had to dispose of almost all of the materials that they used for packing. The movers created an unorganized chaotic mess and left us to clean it up. There were a number of smaller items that were damaged or missing, but there was damage to her Chili Pad which is part of bed bed set and they are expensive with a replacement being around $250. It was damaged beyond repair and she had to purchase a new one. She made an up-front payment of $4,000. After they unloaded the contents of the truck, they sent her an invoice for $1,700. She withheld payment of the $1,700 because she wanted some leverage for lost and damaged items claim. She contacted them and said that if they would reimburse her for the Chili Pad she would pay the outstanding invoice, but they ignored her request and did not respond at all. Management then called the police and wanted to file charges on her for non payment but they ne read more

So I wanted to make sure everyone knows to do their research and DO NOT USE Come and Take it Moving company. For one we offered twice for them to come look at our house to give us an estimate They declined both times, stated they didn't need to come see it, would send plenty of material. They did not bring enough tape, boxes, and packing blankets. We had to use our towels/blankets as they ran out of paper and packing blankets. We also felt obligated to offer packing kitchen, ended up packing our entire kitchen stuff because they were taking longer than qouted. One of the packers/movers was experienced, other was only 5 months into the job very inexperienced. The one who was experienced was having to help the other and continuously checking on his progress. The inexperienced one threw random stuff in boxes to include some very expensive collectibles and autographed things just shoved in boxes with other things. Despite that the kid was trying to get the job done we were trying to look at it, well at least the kids working and trying. None of our boxes were labeled except a few, that were labeled inaccurately and had other peoples written labels on it (they brought used boxes). We ended up having to take a HD Tv with us because they didn't have enough packing blankets. We had an unsure date of when we were closing the new house so as talked about in the initial conversation we had a week of possible storage. Well it was put in their warehouse and we got the house on the date we thought we would instead of a week later, when we called to schedule them to come out which it was told to them which date we'd possibly get the house they didn't have any available movers to bring it so we had to wait the extra week anyways. Which okay that one was on both of us, however just advising everyone they aren't a big enough company to have it out when and if you need it then. Well we got a call the day of the arrival after the stated time from Matthew whom schedules everything, that there was a paper mix up and they wouldn't be here till the next day. The BIGGEST issue with that for us was the call was after the scheduled arrival time and we had already checked out of the hotel and at the house waiting. SO my husband spoke to him and stated we needed our stuff tonight on the day they were supposed to be coming. Mind you we have a 2 year old and an 8 year old and we were expecting our stuff especially the beds. So because of their mix up they arrived at our new home with our stuff at 12 am and didn't get done till 4 am. My two kids had to sleep in the cars while they were doing this. NOW to inform all we NEVER complained about any of this, mind you at the time it was things we tried to be understanding and compassionate for a moving company still getting out there and trying, that and we were excited to have our stuff. Well a week later as I was unpacking I got down to just little boxes and noticed our vacuum was missing. I emailed Racheal the owner Ryan's wife. I called the vacuum store Oreck, thankfully they keep all information with purchases, they gave me all the information I needed and stated if she needed to call and verify the price I could give them their name. After explaining my situation to them, she advised me to make sure the vacuum they sent me was outside or in the garage, that many of the vacuums that come in for repair have disgusting things in them such as feces, lice, bed bugs, and many other things that'd make my stomach turn. Just to let everyone know, this is a $600 Oreck XL Platinum Pilot Vacuum, amazing vacuum never any problems and light as a feather with pivoting action...Well they NO longer make the vacuum. The vacuum the brought was an Oreck Forever Gold....BIG difference!!! Well skipping along they wanted to settle with $225 I declined and replied if they settled with $300 we would be fine with that. Racheal read the email never replied that day. Early evening I had done my research legally and a number with Ryan the owner was attached left a message asking him to call me back. Later that evening past 8pm he called my husband stated his wife was done talking and dealing with me, that this was through him and my husband now. How did I get his extended families number (mind you all I knew was his name was attached to this number). The conversation went no where, Matthew whom had told me earlier he was unable to handle any of this and only did the scheduling and owner Ryan we not kind and VERY unprofessional in their conversation about this situation with the vacuum. In the end stated weren't going to do anything about it, but the $0.60 per pound. Now if anyone knows about Oreck, they're know for their expensive but known for the light weight luxury. So please explain what $0.60 per lbs will do. Now the $225 would have been okay, but $300 for a perfect condition vacuum, that is priced at $600 and aren't being made isn't an unreasonable request, We didn't complain about all the other problems. read more

I used Come and Take it Movers based on the high recommendation from my sister. I used them twice, requesting the same movers as my sister had. Matthew led me to believe that would happen. I got 2 different guys for the 1st move of a 2 part move. These 2 guys were great!. Every piece of furniture was protected - even over protected. I was so happy. The 2nd part of the 2 part move - which was the biggest part - turned out very differently. These guys (especially one very hyped up mover) were super, super fast - oh yes. But at the cost of my possessions. They literally ran with my furniture and guess what? They dropped my huge dresser and mirror and broke it and neglected to tell me about it. Took my tip eagerly. None of my furniture was protected as it was the 1st time. Boxes were stacked 4 and 5 high in my driveway - no regard for the weight of the boxes stacked. When I called Matthew, he expressed his apologies and said my furniture would be repaired - by their repair people. He referred me to Rachel M. Matthew has a very "Christian" manner about him. I assumed it was a Christian company. Rachel was curt and rude in my opinion. Never said an apology. Told me $60 per pound of item to replace. When I asked her how a 64-year old disabled widow was supposed to weigh a huge dresser, her response was meant to make me feel like a fool. Great customer service before the sale is a given. Great customer service after the sale is NOT a part of this company's policy. This company is hit or miss. If you hire them, I hope you hit because if you miss, like I did, you will be sorry.
