I had a little trouble ordering whatever but eventually we figured it out. I can't eat beef and was trying to bub chicken for beef and there wasn't a straightforward way of doing it. After the initial confusion, we all got our food and it was fantastic. The chicken was great, all the sauces too. The people in our party who did get burgers said they were fantastic. The fries and sweet potato chips were great as well. Oh and as so many others have said, the outside appearance is by design so don't let it scare you away! WIfey gets her burger the same at most places...American Cheese, Mustard, Ketchup, Mayo and Pickles...and she really liked the Come Back Shack version. She also likes Sweet Potatoes...Come Back has Sweet Potato chips (as opposed to Fries) and she loved them as well. I got my double cheeseburger with American cheese and "Come Back" style. When you arrive you can either order at the cashier or they have sheets where you can mark your order and bring it up. They have several classic and premium burgers where you don't have to figure out what you want or you can order your burg just like you want it. I thought for sure this place was going to be overrated, but I think craving it ever since I left Boone. For what it is, an inexpensive fast food burger and fries place, it gets five stars in my book. Everything is made to order and customizable, and there are plenty of vegetarian options. Since I wasn't super hungry, I got the PIMENTO CHEESE FRIED GREEN TOMATO burger with no burger, even though a veggie patty is an option. It completely hit the spot. The green tomato was fried perfectly, and the comeback sauce was delicious on it. The real superstars, though, were the fries and shake. The BUFFALO BLUE CHEESE FRIES are addictive. Don't expect a crispy fry. While it might start out that way, after getting drowned in buffalo sauce, ranch, cheese sauce, and blue cheese crumbles, it's soggy in the best possible way. I think it was only three dollars for a huge portion that's served in a fairly large box. And the COFFEE MILKSHAKE. Oh my goodness. Best ever. Thick, creamy and extremely coffee-y. So good. The Come Back Shack is a disappointment. I have been here multiple times and my order has been wrong multiple times. The dining room is not well stocked, many times they are out of sauce cups and sauces. The food itself is a bit bland. The meat on the burgers is not very juicy. I recently got the Come Back style fires and they were a huge disappointment. The bacon was burned and super greasy. All the greasy from the bacon soaked into the fried making it inedible without needing a triple bypass afterwards. All in all, I would recommend the Five Guys next door over the Come Back Shack. Sure there are less sides at Five Guys, but at least the burgers are nice and juicy. read more

In town for an App State football game, this was down the street from our hotel and looked inviting, so we came for lunch. It was hopping. Packed. And, smelled great. Whomever founded this place has my permission to open up more locations. This chain, while slightly similar to other national chains (The Counter is the closest) is way better than Five Guys, has more choices and is more affordable. These are damn good burgers, with fresh, made/cooked on the spot toppings and hand cut fries and sweet potato chips. In fact, if you have a stomach that can handle a massive load of calories try the buffalo or come back fries. It's a meal. My cousin, who's a college kid, demolished it.
