Just a tiny venue, like five rows of seats, maybe a 50 person capacity but I've been going for three years almost monthly for the D&D improv shows Monsternomicon hosts. No frills, byob with some candy bars and chips for purchase, but the performers are always a good time. There are other improv shows and regular stand up, you just need to peep their calendars and I believe most shows are like $10-15 bucks. Just always a good hour or so cackling at/with nerds lol. read more

What a time to be alive! This place was fantastic and loads of fun. They came out to a corporate style event and that's where I first learned about them. The spot itself is a comfy place in a plaza with plenty of parking. Was greeted at the door and sat front row to enjoy a night of laughter and entertainment. At halftime I enjoyed from their selection of beverages and snacks. 'Torpedo' improvised a song about squatters rights that made me literally laugh out loud, even the DJ appreciated a quote about sand and how "it's coarse and rough and irritating and gets everywhere." I had purchased a high end ticket for a famous comedian for my son's Christmas present and the comedian cancelled 2 days before the event. I had to quickly fond some sort of comedy replacement to give at the last minute. Comedy Sportz got the highest reviews out of all the clubs in San Antonio, so that's what I went with. And for $10 a ticket, how could I go wrong?! If you arrive before the doors open, the club will look dark and you may wonder if you've gotten to the right place. However, as soon as the doors were publicize to be open, all the lights turned on and we went in. It's first come first serve seating, and a smaller venue. Perhaps 75 people? The improv team was fantastic and the comedy was clean. We laughed so hard and are ready to come back super soon. Bonus... it's byob for beer and wine! There is a snack bar which resembles more of a concession stand, so dont plan on eating dinner here. However, the snacks (chips, candy, canned sodas) are reasonably priced. We went to the 7:30 show and will try a late show next time. read more

Family Fun!!!!! We found this place on Trip Advisor. I was looking for something fun to do with my kids besides water stuff and sight seeing for one of our many trips to SA. THIS WAS THE BEST FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT EVER!!! The tickets were reasonably priced. You can bring in your own food and drinks...and they do have a snack bar available during "half-time". Cold can drinks, pickles, chips, candy and water. Bring your Yeti full of whatever you want! LOL. The show is VERY interactive and hugely entertaining! My three teen boys laughed out loud, yelled out suggestions and one even participated in the show!!!! We will definitely visit the ComedySportz in McKinney near our home! My whole family enjoyed it and I'm so glad we gave it a chance!!!! read more

It's safe to say that I have never had this much fun in my life. Why have I not known about this before? I'm cool. I'm open to new experiences. I have never laughed so hard or had a better time at a comedy venue, ever. This is San Antonio's hidden gem. The experience is nothing less than interactive, hysterical and fun. This was our first time experiencing Comedy Sportz. We really enjoyed the show. These actors really do a great job involving the crowd and keeping everyone involved. Our daughter got to go up front and participate in the show and she had a blast. I think the price is reasonable and it's a blast and something you and your family will enjoy. This is my favorite thing to do on a Friday or Saturday night! This is very similar to "Whose Line Is It Anyway? " but it's live right here in SA! The talent is top notch and it's always different each time we go. They aren't vulgar or "blue" (they pride themselves on being "Comedy for everyone), but it never felt like anything was missing. An important thing to know ComedySportz is that they have two or three different shows. One or two of the shows are all ages, and one was 18+. I got tickets for the all ages show. I think I would have had a better time at the 18+ show. Another thing to be aware of is that the business is BYOB. There is a brewery nearby that sells drinks, but it would have been nice to know that ahead of time. read more

There is so much passion for comedy and performance here. Not exactly my normal scene, but enjoyable! It's BYOB and there are a lot of shows for all ages so expect a lot of child-friendly sketches. These folks do a good show and it's constantly changing with lots of young (and old) people taking a stab at improv/comedy. The crowd space is limited and the room gets toasty so be ready and dress in layers. read more

We had an amazingly hilarious night at ComedySportz!! I brought a bachelorette group to one of their shows. They were nice enough to save a section of seats for us together. We loved every bit of the show! Because of our schedule for the night, we attended the 7:30pm family friendly version. We were NOT disappointed. We all wished that we could stay for the late night "adult" show, but we had a limo sitting outside waiting to be used. You can bring your own drinks! We went for an out-of-the-box family night on a Friday and not really sure what to expect and kind of nervous when we got to the parking lot. However, all of that changed once we walked in. I've been meaning to do this one for a while now... I had the chance to see these guys this past fall while on business in San Antonio, and decided to check them out on recommendation from a friend. Very funny, very entertaining, and a whole different kind improv than I've seen in other places. Since live comedy can get a bit raunchy, I'll add that the show I saw was totally family-friendly (I think that's one of their touted benefits, too). Heck, there's penalties - penalties! - if the performers accidentally drift off-color. All in all, it's a great time and well worth the visit if you're in San Antonio. read more

Each show is unique because the audience helps create it. The challenge of making a family-friendly show is met and exceeded each week, but it is not dumbed-down for the kids. If you think you won't like it because you have seen lousy improv elsewhere, you need to let these performers change your mind.
