We saw Regina Spektor here recently. The show was incredible, and the venue itself was a great place to watch it. Comfortable seats, with a good amount of incline to the floor level so that you can see over the people in front of you. Tons of volunteers and staff to help guide you to your seat or the bathroom. Clean facilities. A handful of snack and drink options. I love a seated show, where you're not tempted to stand the whole time, and this was certainly that! My only complaint was that one of the stage lights kept pointing into our eyes but this was likely a combination of where we were sitting and the light arrangement of the show.

I passed by the Tobin Center a couple of times before, but I hadn't ever really gone inside. I mean, it looks pretty neat from the outside. There are glass front doors, and the box office is just inside the front doors all the way in the left. I randomly walked inside one time in the afternoon, and asked if I could take a look around inside (it was closed off at the time). They said they did do tours, but you'd need to email to inquire about them. Later on, when visiting San Antonio again, I randomly looked up what might be going on at the Tobin Center. This time, it happened to be the Youth Orchestras of San Antonio Philharmonic playing the Firebird Dance, accompanied by the San Antonio Youth Ballet. Sounded exciting. And it was, except, because I was traveling, I had my backpack with me, and I was technically running late for the concert. So I parked in a garage and moseyed over, only to be told "no bags, or backpacks, sorry! And, no, we don't have a coat or bag check either" after I asked if they had a bag check. Alas, I meandered back to the hotel to drop off my bag; and finally sauntered back to the Tobin Center. This time, rather than being 5 minutes late, I was 45 minutes late, for a two hour concert. They scanned the tix, then told us how to get to our seats. We took the elevator up the relevant floor, and then an usher guided us to our seats. Well, someone happened to be sitting in our seats it seemed, but the usher cleared it up with pretty dope flashlight moves, spotlighting the seat numbers. Turns out we basically missed the first two sets of the concert: the little kiddies orchestra, and the soloists. But we hadn't missed the Firebird Dance yet. During the intermission, I decided to get a drink. I waddled downstairs to the bar that was setup, and I was confronted with an apparently annoyed bartender who didn't really wish to be there. I asked if they had any non-alcoholic cocktails (actually I wanted to get something off their online menu, but apparently they didn't have that). I looked at the other bartender who seemed to be more chill and asked him instead. He made some fizzy juice concoction--as they didn't really have anything substantial on hand it seems, and just charged me for a soda. I waddled on upstairs, this time one floor lower, and went in that entrance, and enjoyed the remainder of the Firebird Dance with fizzy fruit juice in hand. Afterwards, we spent some time checking out the Tobin Center--a self-guided tour if you will. There are multiple levels to the Tobin Center, and within there are some pretty neat architectural elements to see on each level. There are 6 floors, according to the elevator: Floor 1 is Orchestra, where you enter the building from main entrance. Where events and mingling happens, and where they set up photo booths, bars, and such. Floor 2 is Grand Tier, which is where the majority of the box suites are. But also on this floor are some nifty bathrooms and a private lounge that you'll get kicked out of if you're not in the know. There's also that little bridge (two of them actually) that you can walk over to go between box suites and bathrooms. Just outside the theater, they have some cushy chairs for sitting, and a few cool art displays. This level is sorta dimly lit. Floor 3 is Mezzanine; Floor 4 is Upper Mezzanine (but really you can go in either one, just depends which floor your seat is closer to on the inside. But also on here are little alcoves with seating and some artwork. Floor 3 is where the box suites on the side are located. Floor 5 and 6 are Balcony and Upper Balcony. Over on the left side is a cool Paper Clouds exhibit. On these levels, the entry to the theater is double doored; the space in between both doors, when closed, is quite quiet. What's also neat about some of the floors is that you can find tiny windows which overlook the main entrance of the Tobin Center. But if you're like me, don't explore for too long after a concert; they'll eventually come around and start locking doors. But do make sure to check out the different exhibits they have showing. Finally, in terms of seating, I don't think there are really any bad sight lines. I'll definitely come back again, making sure to stash whatever bags I happen to be carrying elsewhere.

    Beautiful theater!

Here to see country singer, Terri Clark, and the food tonight is burgers and beer. A little pricey, to be expected, but very good. As I've said before, I will watch anything at the Tobin! center! Love this place!

Wow the Tobin is a very fancy, gorgeous theater in downtown San Antonio. Luxurious seats, beautiful architecture. We got box seats for a matinee. Parking is a little tricky, that's the only downside. The address for their parking garage is not correct. Put in Stout's and it will get u to the right parking garage.

The burger at Taste was pretty good. For that type of atmosphere and price, I was just hoping for a fresh hot side option instead of chips. Our orders came out rather quick and it was convenient to be able to eat right where the show was.

Our first visit to attend Tobin for an 80s night concert with ABC, Howard Jones, and hosted by Richard Blade. We had a blast!!! Parking was easy, as we prepaid online $25 for a spot of our choice in their parking structure. It was super easy to park. The center itself was gorgeous and clean. Our seats in the Mezzanine Row A was perfect! No one in front of us. Acoustics was spot on. Customer service was awesome, no complaints. A special treat was a free meet and greet with Richard Blade! A blast from the past DJ that I was so excited to meet and he happily signed for an autograph. Thank you! Love, love, love. More than happy to attend another future event here : )

Went to see Jon Anderson of Yes with his band at Tobin Center. As I said earlier there is not a bad seat at the Tobin. We sat in Mezzanine seats, sound was great , big screams to enjoy up close pictures of the stage. Tobin is a great Venue, quite a gem for San Antonio. Parking is a bit of a pain but we have been lucky finding street parking 1 block away where it is free after 6pm

Another amazing performance by KODO! They were so talented and they were amazing. Definitely something you need to see next time you get a chance. Nothing like I've ever seen before and unexpected musical sound. The shape of all these performances were stunning!

Awesome venue and a terrific show with PMJ on deck. The very modern theater ties together the history of the area with a stunning facade. The staff was friendly and super helpful despite us being a few minutes late. The seats are soft and accommodating. Doesn't look like there are many bad seats.

Go see anything that is happening here! Beautiful building. Saw Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken. I don't think any seat in this place is bad. The lights instead were constantly changing so it was it's on show within a show. There are bars inside. Bar tender did state it varies on if they allow drinks inside the theater or not.

I sat in the Mezzanine section it was not the best seats but thats all my fault I just got the ticket without checking sitting arrangement, but service was amazing. I had a server her name was Liz or Lisa she was very attentive. It seemed like most the staff I encountered that night was just as attentive and friendly and helpful our server and everyone else wear uniform well groomed, and well put together definitely worth the visit for the hospitality itself. Only advice I would have is make sure. Check the seating arrangements before you just order a were clean good tasty snacks.

The Tobin is a great place to go see a show, and now for ongoing fitness classes. Every Saturday they will have a wellness or fitness class for FREE. I went to the kick off event last Saturday where they showcased the different classes they'll offer and they did have brunch/mimosas for the special event. They had a meditation, yoga, drum circle, salsa/bachata, and dance fitness session. Mobile Om, Amp, and other local businesses were there leading the classes. For the brunch I had the poblano chicken which was almost like a migas dish with chicken, egg, tortillas, and salsa. The food was amazing and it's such a beautiful spot I look forward to coming more often.

What is the Dress code for Science Friday Live? Is there a bar that serves wine?

Yes. They have a full-service bar. The wines are mediocre, so I go with mixed drinks. Cheers.

Is there a stage door or stage door-esqe area where actors leave for the musicals?

I do not know of one where you can try to meet the talent, no. But they often so a meet and greet for the shows they do here!

Best Seats for opera or musical?

Agreed, there isn't a bad seat, but balcony left me severely disappointed. Would not do that again if I could help it.

Has anyone done a Meet and Greet with Celebrities if so, How did that work out?

Most M&G are before show, Although there are some after show as well. Be sure to check your email for more information on where and when to be there so you don't miss out.

The Bijou, which was known for showing more art and independent movies and served food, is now the Wonder Theater. The play was the Wiz and was pretty good as far as community theater goes. Many of the plays for this season's lineup are geared towards children and are affordable. The ticket prices were: $36.00 adults, $26.00 seniors and $18.00 students and children. The lobby, concession stand and seating area have been revamped, and a small stage has been added. Seating is fairly spacious, with new seats and a very clean theater. The lobby area is similar to the Bijou's, with a small full serve concession stand, selling popcorn and other goodies. This locale is worth a visit if you are partial to theater, regardless of it being Broadway or community. Many of the shows are from Friday to Sunday, and are great way to spend the afternoon/evening.

The theater itself is attached to the Woodlawn Theater and shares restroom facilities with the Woodlawn. Running a separate series of smaller shows, the Classic Theater offers a theater-in-the-round experience with the audience seated on all sides of the theater which can allow audience interaction with the professional cast. The seating is comfortable, but you'll need the intermission to get up and stretch your legs as the chairs can get a tad uncomfortable. The theater also allows no outside food or drinks, but does have water and wine for donation (at least this was during the show we attended). Overall, the cast was excellent in Midsummer Night's Dream. They brought a refreshing perspective and performance for Shakespeare's work, which truly showed why Shakespeare should be consumed in theatrical form rather than reading, and the acting was intimate and, yet, bombastic at the same time. The cast really showed skill and thought with each word spoken, and they brought the characters to life while leaving themselves behind. With the theater-in-the-round, they worked the entire room as well as made me feel that the show was put on solely for me. I had had that same sense of disbelief in quite a long time during a theatrical production. The quality of the production also showed. Even though it seemed like a relatively low budget affair, it wasn't lacking the quality of a truly great show. My husband and I are already planning our time back to enjoy another production and we look forward to becoming regular patrons of the arts at the Classic.
