Hi, rent a house through La Quinta Rental The air conditioner would be running all the time I had it set at 77 but it would be 80° so I thought maybe there might be a problem. Amador came out. I believe that's who it was the first time and told the landlady that the coils needed to be cleaned and that it was my fault due to a dirty filter according Hydes La Quinta rentals was not going to allow any work without proof of exactly what it caused the problem so he told her it was the dirty filter according to Robin she had already approved the work and he volunteered a dirty filter as a reason I don't know who's telling the truth anyway within a month the air conditioner was flooding the bedroom floor everything around it was flooded so we called them back out this time. Jonathan came and Jonathan said that it wasn't the filter that caused it so I called the office because at this point I am confused. I am being charged for the entire service call which run ran about $800 and I am being charged late charges because I don't have an extra $800 to hand to the owner or to the manager and I'm still confused when upon calling Claudia she indicated that I should not have had to change the filter that they do it twice a year and that's the only time it should be done. I said I had dogs so she said well maybe every three months and I said why I'm doing it every week when I called Robin and she said that I should do it originally she said every week then she said every month and then she said I couldn't buy the less expensive filters. I had to buy the more expensive filters for the unit. I'm confused because I have two different stories. One guy says it's my fault because of the dirty filter the other person says it's not Robin says if I check online I will find out that only dirty filters cause dirty coils and so I should be responsible for the service call on a rental house. I don't know who tells the truth and who's lying, but I would not use heights again. Claudia sent a text I think to La Quinta Rental complaining that I had contacted the company She indicated to me the supervisor would be reaching out to both myself and La Quinta Rental clearing up the confusion and telling La Quinta Rental it's not caused by me. Had a repair appointment set for $85 and then Claudia got on the phone and left me on hold for nearly 30 minutes. She then proceeded to cancel the appointment and tell me it could be rescheduled 5 days later at a cost of $150. A complete lack of respect for the customer and dishonest business practices by nearly doubling the price when I did not ask for any additional services. They might be good repair folks, but I couldn't make it that far with them. Very disappointing. read more

After my experience, I do not trust Hydes AC and do not want to do any future business with them. Thank goodness I got a second opinion. A few days ago, Hydes came out to service my AC. Upon inspection, the first thing I was told was that my AC was 3-4 pounds low of freon and that it would cost approx. $130 per pound (with their discounted maintenance plan). He then said most likely the leak was from my coils. I asked if there is a product that would repair a leak. He said there is, but that they do not recommend it. (I can't remember the reason, but that they do not recommend it). I then asked how much it was be to replace the coils. He said approx. $4,000. I asked how does he know the leak is in the coils? He said 9 out of 10 times, it's the coils. I asked about just putting freon in and checking next year as that is a lot of money to spend on a 10 year old AC. He said the pressure of adding freon could cause the hole to get bigger. At this point, he mentions a test that can check where the leak is, which costs approx $600 and my AC has to be off for a few days. After further questions and conversation, he then mentions a less expensive test that is approx. $160. Note the leak test was not offered first. Replacing the coils was his recommendation. This did not sit well with me and decided to do more research and get a second opinion. *I had my AC inspected by another licensed/insured company and was told my freon was slightly low and it would cost $90 per pound and he will know exactly how much once starts adding it (he said it was 1-2 pounds low). I was also offered the option of a product that could repair a small leak (like a fix a flat for your tire) for $190. He said if that doesn't fix the leak, there's a chemical in it that will show where the leak is. I didn't feel pressured into thinking I had to do either as he said it was slightly low. I chose to do both. The amount of freon needed ended up being a little over a pound and I was charged $90 for it. With Hydes, I had signed up for the maintenance plan and after this experience, I asked to be refunded the second part since I do not want to have them come out again. Over 25 years ago our AC went out and we got a referral for Hyde's. They came out and set us up with a new unit and explained the benefits of putting another unit upstairs, which we did. They have since come regularly to check on the equipment and always come right out if there are any problems. We have not had to deal with the system going out again, because if one slows down the other one picks up the slack. We just had the downstairs unit misbehave, we were sure that after a quarter of a century we would end up having to replace the unit, nope, just a part. Replaced a capacitor, no extra call out fee, replaced the filters, checked everything else and was done in under an hour. We've seen an our technicians go through a generation, as the fathers passed down to sons, (I believe this is actually son's to grandsons.). Overall we are very happy with Hyde. That doesn't mean that they can't improve in some areas but i consider that more minor. We've purchased two new systems from them (one last year and one in our condo about 6-7 years ago) and we've always had them serviced twice a year. Todays technician Miguel G was excellent. Very thorough, listened and answered my questions and was very professional. I would never recommend a service who hires people to wreck a customers AC unit and then tries to upcharge them. Then when you call them about their screwups, they want to charge you for them breaking your AC unit. Biggest con in the world. Thanks to another company that came in, we found that wires were left loose again, and the freon was emptied. Which was checked a year ago and filled so it shouldnt have been emptied. My experience is the actual techs are fine, but they work on commissions, which means up selling is really how they make their money. They were hired for a service, which was substandard- didn't check the coils, didn't clean the coils, didn't clean the condenser coils, didn't check the contacts or capacitors and didn't explain the gauge readings. Two days later no cooling. They came back out for a charge. Tech said there's a leak and you need a new system or pay for 4-5 gallons of r-22 at $180 a gallon and oh there's no guarantee it will last more than an hour. Called another AC company. They cleaned everything, checked everything and added 8 oz of Freon. Showed us what they were doing every step. System is running perfect. Beware. ‍ read more

Hyde's installed our new AC unit. They were very professional and completed the job on schedule. I watched a well trained crew working smoothly to complete the job in the time specified. This was almost a 5-star review, save for a slight oversight. They neglected to open the gas valve on the FAU (furnace) leaving us with a rather chilly house this morning. It was quickly corrected. We have had Hyde's A/C service our home the last 4 years since we moved to Rancho Mirage. Service by Frank today. For our 4 A/Cs and when he came this morning he said he replace all filters in December service which was a lie. It was pointed out ahead of time to me the filters were filthy, one of the 2 I could reach walking with a cane. Frank claimed and charged me for 2 condensers he said I needed. When I asked about the filters which he hadn't even looked at, he admitted after going to look, very filthy. I asked him the filter size for other 2. He did not give me and left after I payed. 3 hours later when main A/c wouldn't go on, I called to have them fix whatever Frank did. They gave me appointment for Tomorrow. But the owner had Claudia call me to say they won't fix it and left me have another A/C TO FIX WHAT THEY BROKE OR DISCONNECTED, Who knows. He did not leave me the 2 suppose parts he replaced on others. Barry the owner is in denial of how his staff f up. They installed 2 hot water heaters and I had to have them out 3 times till one worked. They had the gas valve off. They replaced 1 of my 4 AC units, and took 4 different visits to get working most of the employees have no idea how to work them. They make mistakes and new appointments are made days later. The company is too big and not trained all the same. Warning Barry of Hyde is a crook. I had 4 units working but only 3 when the tech leaves works. I complained so they won't return. Call them, wait 20 minutes, get hung up and finally get an appointment but Barry the crook won't fix whatever his tech Frank did. Bad company going down hill even faster. read more

I received a response from M. Hyde to my negative review on their parts pricing; in his response he stated that I had cancelled the payment...this is not true, it is false! I emailed to Hydes today a copy of my American Express statement showing the payment was completed, and not, I repeat, not cancelled. I would ask M. Hyde to correct his response to my review, and acknowledge that I did indeed pay for the $7.50 part with an American Express credit payment of $169.04. As a note, I am not faulting their work; in 10 years, I have been happy with it, including installing new ducts in my attic. I am just not happy with the pricing of a run capacitor replaced during the spring inspection a few weeks ago. read more

Hyde's and the entire crew are totally awesome. After a few years seeing their outstanding reviews on the NextDoor website decided to give them first crack at two new heat pump systems. Total process was seamless, they did over $7,000 in instant rebates and even a military discount. Johnathan their salesman and high level tech sold me and I'm a hard sell. Install was Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday morning drywall repair and paint to make good as new and the Johnathan did a final inspection and helped setup the phone app and showed all the bells and whistles. Service technician came for maintenance. His first words when finished was "your air conditioner is not working well". "big leak probably have to replace compressor and coil" - quoted a price of over $6,000. He said he had to use 4 pounds of freon. I said it was working fine and that I would get a second opinion. Another firm came to check. Nothing wrong with unit. the unit holds 10 pounds of freon and if it had lost 4 pounds I should have noticed a problem with the cooling - running longer, etc. The unsubstantiated statements by Hyde's technician are not what Hyde's professes as "we earn your trust".
