For a modestly priced hotel, this place is great. The room was comfortable, the staff friendly, and the manager is top-notch.

Nicer than the $300 a night Marriott I stayed in last week on business in DC. Newer. Quiet. The TV wasn't working though.

Complementary water in our room and comfy robes. We had a balcony view of the sound that was breathtaking. Mathew at the front desk was welcoming upon arrival and took the time to get to know guests. He was always helpful when we had a question and took his time with us. Never made us feel like we were unimportant. The grounds were well maintained and kept up. Always saw staff maintaining the property. The property had a small private beach with overlook to rocky bluff. The hotel also has spa services for those who want to indulge in a facial or massage. On select Fridays the restaurant has a wine tasting and Al's hosts larger events. Lunch and dinner we sat outside on the covered patio with a beautiful view of the sound. Sydney was friendly and accommodating at dinner. The manager Anthony took good care of us at dinner for substitutions due to food intolerances. The food was excellent we had the short rib and steak frits with a beautifully paired Bordeaux. Lunch we had the crab cakes, house salad and smash burger. Our stay was just what we needed to relax and unwind. A definite revisit in the future.

Extremely peaceful and the staff is extremely tentative. The wharf, there isn't a single thing on the menu that isn't carefully curated. I've stayed here at Holiday Inn, Branford CT. several years ago. It was clean & fresh…read more My first impression of the lobby is why are there chairs and small tables right in the center of the lobby where people should be walking through to enter and leave? Why do people have to walk around this? Seems better if it would be by the wall opposite the desk or where computers are. Room pricing: Quirky. I wasn't quoted a specific price per night and it seemed high. I stated it was off season and was told it didn't matter that they can charge different prices or change prices per week or weekend, there's no set amount. What?? Doesn't sound legit. My bill has six different prices per night from $159.99, $174.99, $199.99, $339.99, $155.99, $169.99. Even the room tax was different each night,... $24.00, to $30.00, to $51.00, to 25.50. This bill was perplexing. I really didn't look at it until after I left the state. I had a long drive. My bill total was $1973.32 for 8 nights! WOW!! Crazy!! Room: It was clean but the carpet looks like it needs shampooing. The edge where it meets the tile near the bathroom was frayed from foot traffic. Stepped on the metal edging one night, it didn't feel good on my foot. Time to fix it. Toilet paper is awful, cheap and thin. The TV has limited channels. The button on the room phone for the front desk didn't work. Parking: spaces are tight, your car may get its doors banged if others aren't careful. They say there is security cameras in the lot but I doubt it. Didn't see any cameras. Noise: room doors close hard making a loud noise which causes shaking vibration of walls & bed. Quiet close doors please, people come in and out late night & early morning. Some woman was talking loudly on her cell phone at 2:00am in the hall waking me, then at 7:00 am a refrigerated tractor trailer truck delivering supplies came into the lot stopping right along the west side of the building where my room was. Woke me again. Truck left idling. Maybe I got 5 hours sleep that night. Also delivery trucks unloading at the Ford dealership early in the morning on the west side of hotel. Lights: housekeeping turns on every light in the room / bathroom before leaving. Why? No wonder they charge so much. Overall I was not happy about room pricing, felt I got ripped off, and the noise disturbances in and out of hotel. Hopefully I won't have to come to CT. again. I won't be staying here. Disappointed.

Went here during a meeting in September…read more I used to live in CT, but had never been here, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. First of all, I drove to this place from Bradley airport in the middle of the night and got a little lost trying to find it. I drove right past it. My GPS was screaming at me to turn left, but from my rental car, it looked just like a school, but the Mercy Center is a bit farther off the road. So, be warned. Good thing that there's a lot of driveways to turn around in on that street (sorry if I woke you up, folks!). Anyway, I stayed here two nights. It's definitely not a resort or hotel, so don't go in thinking you'll get Four Seasons treatment. You'll need to make your own bed, and take off the sheets when you leave. Phone service and wifi were spotty at best in the rooms. I shared a room with two twin beds and an old-looking bathroom. Nothing was outright dirty, but the rooms were showing their age and there were ant traps in the bathroom. But, mamma mia, the water in the showers was hotter than the lakes in Hades! Damn! I almost burned my arms off. The kitchen in the house was decently appointed, our group was able to make tea and coffee in the morning without any issue. We did have lunch in the main center one day--not bad food, a number of choices: soup, a pasta dish, a fish dish, a salad/fruit bar, and a number of desserts. One of the soups was vegetarian, which was nice. Because it's set off the road, it's very quiet and I really found some good time to think there (and since the doggone wifi was a little wonky, what else was I going to do?). Not necessarily the best place for a work meeting, if you need the conveniences of technology, but definitely good for a spiritual retreat.

It was so helpful, the quiet, the peace, the energy saved with having meals served in the delightful dining area. I also stayed when i needed to finish a book I was writing. There were enough choices for me, as a pescatarian, that i never felt neglected. If you choose a Guided" retreat, you will not be sorry. I cannot give a higher recommendation!. The room is very comfortable and airy with windows on two walls, and quiet. The bed is very comfortable with nice feeling sheets resulting in a restful sleep both nights. The bathroom is well lit and has a walk in shower, with fantastic water pressure. The proprietor, Victoria, is exceedingly friendly as well as a wealth of information about the local area including where to eat. I found her descriptions and recommendations to be spot on. Breakfast is elegant. It is casual for the guest, but the table is nicely set and the food is freshly made and delectable. The weather was great during our stay so we got to enjoy a day at the beach. There are beach chairs and beach blankets available to borrow, as well as a parking pass for the Madison beaches. Victoria has really made it easy to enjoy Madison and makes you feel at home. I found everything to be in close proximity. The historical sites in Guilford are about 5 miles and the Madison beaches about 1 mile, and the on-ramp to I-95 is about 1 mile.
