The bad: uncomfortable beds, loud freeway traffic if you have a room on the side closest to the 5, room was very small for two kids and two adults, no one able to bring us an extra blanket and pillow we had to go down and get it ourselves, breakfast was awful. The good: good location nearby downtown Oceanside, good tv and selection of channels. Will not stay here again. read more

One nightmare of a night! I have to say I am not one to write a bad review (see my other reviews which are usually 5 stars). We woke up in a sweat and realized that the AC was not working. We called the front and found out that they had given us a room without a functioning AC unit. Though out the night I also heard cars racing by onto the freeway. Finally at 6 AM I heard a small child screaming and saying "Daddy stop". My wife also heard it and was also very disturbed. I called the front desk and then spoke to the police. The police showed up promptly. We did not hear what happened as we left the hotel quickly. Since then we have requested to speak to the manager 4-5 times and left our number with no response. This was a very disturbing and a restless night! read more

Great location, short drive from camp pendleton and short walk to the beach. We had the kind suite HUGE room for two people. The Jacuzzi was clean and a great size. The breakfast was great, cereal, coffee, juice, bagels, eggs hash browns, bacon and waffles. read more

horrible!!!! house keeping steals!!!! missed the driveway three times becuase its not clearly marked. location is right on freeway so not kid friendly. rude staff, dirty hallways. room was somewhat nice but the couch pillows they give for sleeping is just crazy. house keeping are thiefs and when addressed with the manager he was very rude. i asked for higher management and was informed he was the owner and i couldnt talk to anyone else regarding my complaint of the house keeping stealing our items. all the soccer clubs in south bay area will be informed as well as reviews written in local paper. read more

Great place to stay! We always stay here whenever we come to town. The rooms are always clean, and well kept. Beds are soooooooo comfortable!! And includes one soft and one firm pillow to suit your needs. All of the employees have always been friendly and helpful, especially the lady in the kitchen during breakfast; she is so sweet! The free breakfast is nice and includes eggs and bacon or sausage, toast, bagels, pastries, and the best waffles ever! Really... the waffles are so good! There is also cereal, yogurt, and fresh fruit. Your best bet would be to get down there before 8 am for breakfast. They also offer POG juice, which is delicious, and I am rating this hotel 5 stars especially for serving POG juice, because I usually only find that in one store back in Arizona :) This is our go-to hotel for cleanliness, friendliness, easy freeway access, walking distance to Oceanside Pier/beach, and price! read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights. The room was squeaky clean. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was an added plus. Had fun working the waffle maker.. Our room was right next to the freeway on ramp. There was barely any noise. We were on the 3rd floor. I liked that there was a safety bar in the shower and the tub had some texture on it so you can't slip. There were plenty of towels and toiletries. The room had a coffee maker, iron and board, a safe, hair dryer, desk, 2 phones, alarm clock, lots of plugs and usb hookups. No complaints. I would stay again. read more

Great stay with Comfort Suites! Rooms were clean enough (wallpaper in bathroom could use a cleaning as could the lampshades and caulking in shower). Bed was clean and comfortable. Front desk staff was great. My only "complaint" was breakfast. I stay at choice hotels often and have had the breakfast many times. I expect quick and easy food selections and not gourmet but the eggs and meat were not appetizing during this stay. Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. To start off they did not have any rooms with two beds so we had to get one with a pull out and it was a joke, didn't unfold all the way and it was hard as a rock. Second the hallways are so loud slamming and people not having any concern for other guests and it also smells like throw up. We got this hotel to be closer to the naval hospital due to my surgery in the morning and I have not got a wink of sleep due to the noise and smell and uncomfortable beds. Only positive was the front desk attendant was very nice but to bad he doesn't run this or else it might be in better shape. Total waste of 130$. read more

This is horrible for the price. Almost 400$ for two nights and our room smelled like dog pee. The bed were hard and the blankets sounded like plastic bags. The staff wasn't friendly. Absolutely horrible thank god it was only one night . Definitely not a suite ! Same size as any other room oh big deal has a ripped couch in the room . Dirty walls and floors old decor and don't bother to ask the front desk for anything as they don't have it nor do they care . RECONSIDER STAYING HERE. The service staff is kind and welcoming. Had a bad experience unfortunately. You're required to put up a $50 a night deposit that they say they'll refund. On the receipt it doesn't set a side a distinction of the charge (e.g., "Get proof if you can."). I had requested proof of the deposit and they refused. In the end I never got my $150 back. I called to speak to staff and no one has the authority to address it. Two agents at this branch refused to connect me to their Guest Service Department, instead only offering the manager email, no phone number (e.g., the national rep told me this). Not to mention, that the account number on my receipt showed up as invalid and didn't exist despite being documented on the receipt. Finally found it speaking to the national representative. In the end, my bank had to make a claim and address it there because the hotel refused to acknowledge responsibility. Only then, my bank said they agreed. Bad business practices. Be weary. read more

Not a big fan of this place. Outside looks really nice but inside is pretty rundown. The furniture in the rooms were all pretty dated. The breakfast room is next to the public bathroom and it certainly stunk like pee. Only one person working at the front desk. So when we asked for a pack and play, we had to bring it up by ourselves. Only 1 elevator for the entire hotel, so it takes forever waiting for it. Breakfast isn't that great and wifi is weak. For the price we paid, i think we could have gotten something better. The only good thing about this place is the location. Right off of the highway 5 and 15 mins away from Legoland. Would not come back. read more

I really liked my stay here. The room was very spacious with a king bed, sofa and desk. I stayed on a Thursday night/checked out Friday morning. Front desk staff was nice. The room was very comfortable for me and I liked the decor. The gym however is lacking. I know it's not a commercial gym but I think there should at least be a treadmill/some weights? The continental breakfast included eggs, bagels, pastries, waffles, fruit and cereal. I would definitely stay again read more

The staff at Comfort Suites have been fantastic especially Jaunty! We felt right at home as we prepared for our bike race.

Beware! It may be reasonably clean but looks are deceiving. We had a large bulky bag of new merchandise from the Carlsbad Outlets taken from our room. The manager was rude and condescending. Housekeeping told us the bags were "empty" and threw them away. This bag was so bulky and large it could not be mistaken for trash. No phone calls were ever returned to me to explain their investigation. I received not even an apology. Upon my fourth phone call to the hotel the manager offered $15 off my next visit to compensate my loss of $200 in merchandise. I hope whoever took it enjoys my grandson's birthday gifts. Horrible. I finally had no choice but to file a theft report with the local police department. read more

The Hotel staff was very nice and the room was very spacious. But overall the place was very dirty. It was not kept for... meaning when you go in the elevators the floors were dirty with trash and the hallways were dirty... the breakfast in the morning was good, but the staff allows anyone to just walk in. Meaning people would just walk out of bed and come into the breakfast area half dressed, no shoes and looking like a total mess. People were sick and coughing all over the food and the staff said and did nothing. It made my family and I so grossed out that we did not want to come back and it made me write this review... for the price you pay, my expectation is for at least the place to be clean but it is not. They should hire more staff to help clean it up. We come to Oceanside often and we will just find another place to stay. read more

RUDE STAFF AND EVEN WORSE BED BUGS!! I brought my 3 children here on our very first family vacation and stayed 7/16 through 7/21. Upon arrival after 7 hour car ride I was told they don't accept cash, all payments must come off a credit card ?!? I had cash for the entire stay in my hand but yet it needs to come off my credit card?!?..so before I could check into the room..I had to put kids back into the car 8pm at night and go find a wells Fargo deposit my cash..drive back to hotel and let them charge it that way!?!.. RIDICULOUS!! The room wasn't as great as we expected for the rates I was paying by far and we were killing spiders on the beds and numerous other pests daily! There were no other rooms..we took the last one so we were screwed. Each day we had more and more bites but my 6 year old daughter especially was EATEN ALIVE!! The day we checked out I saw just how many she had and told the front desk that room isn't good at all..too many bugs we had to kill ect....and the lady said okay then we will have to take it outta service until it can be treated again but really couldn't do much more for me at that point she said I would have to call and speak to customer service or something. I drove back to phoenix and contacted customer service online by email and included pictures of my 6 year daughter COVERED in bites. The little baby beetles i know now were BED BUGS!! I have never seen them before and had NO IDEA!!!..Until being told my daughter is having an allergic reaction to bed bug bites!!!..The corporate office responded to my complaint by saying that these hotels are individually owned and someone from the hotel directly will be in touch with me within 48 hours. I received an email from the property directly a few days later saying sorry you had a bad experience..we are always trying to better things at out hotel so please give us a second chance in the future!!! That was it!! No word about the pictures of my baby girl that I had provided!!?? These people don't care at all!!! Put us in a nasty room filed with BED BUGS AND spiders..real cute! I had to leave all of our belongings and suit cases in my garage for a week to ensure they didn't come home with us!!! On top of that..this was my kids very first hotel experience.. and now they are scared to go stay in hotel rooms!!! Thank you very much..I work hard for my money..saved up for this vacation just to deal with that..and then you don't give a crap in the slightest what happened!!! read more

This location has been my home away from home. I travel a lot and during such time I desire a clean, well kept location snd this hotel provides that. The guest service is personable they cater to each guest as much as possible to make each guest experience feel like a vacation home that didn't break the bank. This hotel is walking distance from the beach, and very family oriented. The breakfast is fresh and good and I typically don't even eat a big breakfast, but here I do. It was a nice hotel. The room I mean was nothing special which was fine with me because I wasn't planning on being in the room unless I was sleeping. It was a close walk to the beach, you could see the beach but it was only about a 15 minute walk and there you were right on the beach so that was nice. Also the breakfast is not recommended I ate there because it was free but it was not good. I've been to other hotels and the breakfast was so much better than that. After several email back and forth with "corporate" they offered us 1000 points in their rewards program. No one from they lousy on-site management ever had the GUTS to respond. Stayed here for one night for a wedding we went to. Place is overall great for the price. Nice rooms with a fridge and microwave and staff were extremely friendly. Especially the assistant manager Zeidy! Very welcoming and a pleasure to be greeted by! The pool is perfect in size, but could use an upgrade. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!! It did have a good breakfast although it was way overcrowded. Looks can be deceiving. It seemed newly remodeled but the stay was still a nightmare. They were actually doing remodeling right down the hall, which was very noisy. My family stayed at this hotel for 5 nights through New Years 2014. On one night we were repeatedly awakened by the piercing fire alarm only to be told every time that it was a false alarm. Glad the the place wasn't on fire but not happy to wake up that way several times. On another occasion, we got a call from someone saying he was Mike at the front desk and they were having computer problems and had to re-enter our information. Since the guys name at the front desk was indeed Mike and it was 6 am, I gave it to him over the phone. I know, stupid. I was told the hotel does not transfer calls from outside the hotel to a room unless the name of the guest is asked for and it wasn't and there was no record of an incoming call, so apparently THE CALL IS COMING FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE! Someone, either another guest or an employee, proceeded to empty my bank account. Or at least they tried. When the issue was brought up to the staff they seemed epically unconcerned, had no possible explanation, and weren't worried about how that made them look. Inconveniently, I had to cancel my bank card while on a trip. Not a good thing. As far as i'm concerned, it was an inside job. And multiple guests said they got the same phone call. Our $650 bill was not adjusted at all for any inconvenience and all repeated attempts for months to speak to a manager have been completely ignored. Apparently he doesn't care how bad the customer service is portrayed. Returning phone calls is a common courtesy, Jeffrey Tarver. The cleaning staff and workers were a little sketchy too. I told the front desk clerk that it was my child's birthday and asked her to give us a quiet room. She ended up putting us in a adjoining room. About 10pm a huge group checked in and started making a lot of noise and we had to pack up and move rooms. One another floor, I heard noise coming from yet another room. I asked the desk clerk why they couldn't have told me it was an adjoining room and he said it's not their policy. The neighborhood around the hotel is very sketchy and I didn't feel safe with just me and my daughter staying there. It's very hard to find the hotel at night, my map kept taking me to another place because of where it is situated on the street. Would not go back. read more

This might not be the Hilton hotel but honestly this place is pretty good. I stay here every time I'm in town for work it or I stay inside the base. It's nicely furnished and clean, the bed is super comfy and for me it's perfect because it's close to work. Complimentary breakfast in the morning that includes waffles, bacon, sausage, eggs scrambled and boiled as well as all continental breakfast. All juices and coffee or tea! Best of all it's a 2 blocks away from the beach! It's awesome!!!! So stop complaining blah blah blahs ! Besides it ain't that cheap here , summer rates are pretty high too ( almost $170) low season ( $130 something like that) which is not bad giving all the amenities you can get. If your just prissy and a social climber this ain't for you honey! All I know is I'm here for a business trip all the time and all expenses are paid but I still dig this temporary crib for my stay in Oceanside . Go comfort inn !
