Was looking for a handicap accessible hotel for my toddler and infant to visit with their grandparents. Stayed in the King Suite and it's basically an apartment. Had room for a bassinet, stroller, walker, wheelchair, and floor space to play with seating for everyone without it being uncomfortable. Immaculate, and I was down on the carpet a lot so I got a good look. Super comfortable bed. Very sturdy dining table with six sturdy chairs. Giant, comfy Jacuzzi tub was a special treat. Small pool that was perfect for our littles (stairs in and out). Breakfast was also perfect for us: waffles, sausage or bacon, scrambled eggs with cheese, bagels, oatmeal. Really kind, helpful desk staff. Close to the highway and lots of tasty carryout. The previous reviews made me nervous, so wanted to note that as of January 2025 I'd have no reservations recommending this place to families. Only minor notes: no streaming service on the TVs, so bring your laptop or iPad for your favorite shows. No plates, silverware, or literally anything in the kitchen, so bring what you need. (Full sized fridge and microwave and sink, though - I'll just bring some dishes next time.) Couch is worn and tired, but so am I. :). And, strangely, no chain on the door so we barricaded it at night to make sure the toddler couldn't sneak out. read more

I am checking out as I write this review. We stayed at this hotel because it was the host location for our family reunion. Overall, the hotel was just okay, but several issues made the experience disappointing. When we arrived, the elevators were not working, so we had to carry our luggage up to the third floor. In our room, the bathroom sink had very low water pressure and drained extremely slowly. The lighting in the room was also dim and had an unpleasant yellow tint. The most frustrating issue happened after checkout. We spent a little time in another family member's room before leaving, and my son realized that he had forgotten his large satin pillow. We checked the family member's room and determined that it must have been left in our room. However, the pillow was not in the room and had not been turned in to the front desk as a lost item. The manager was not helpful and repeatedly stated that no pillow had been found. Her dismissive response was irritating and made me feel as though my concerns were not being taken seriously. The pillow did not simply disappear. While it can easily be replaced, the larger issue is the lack of accountability and concern regarding a guest's missing property. This experience left me feeling that the hotel is untrustworthy. Guests should be able to leave personal belongings behind accidentally and feel confident that hotel staff will handle the situation honestly and professionally. read more

I recently stayed at Comfort Suites Youngstown North. After checking out, I realized I had accidentally left my iPad in my room. I called the same day, and the assistant manager, Ashlyn, confirmed they had it. She asked me to purchase and email a USPS shipping label, which I did immediately. She confirmed she received it and told me it would likely be mailed on Monday. After receiving no tracking updates, I called to check on it. I was told the shipping label was no longer where it had been left, so they assumed the package had already been mailed. Days later, there were still no tracking updates, so I called again and asked for a manager. The person I spoke with was incredibly rude, telling me, "I never saw it. It's your problem. You should keep track of your stuff. I have more important things to do." I later learned this person was actually the general manager David Allen. After contacting Choice Hotels customer service and filing a complaint, I spoke with the general manager again. This time, his attitude was completely different, and he said he would investigate and contact the assistant manager. I never received a follow-up. When I finally reached Ashlyn again, she told me she had kept my iPad locked in the office all weekend and personally handed it, along with my prepaid shipping label, to David Allen the general manager on Monday. My iPad has never been returned, and no one has been able to explain what happened to it after that. What is most upsetting isn't just that my iPad disappeared after the hotel acknowledged they had it--it's the lack of accountability, the conflicting information, and the unprofessional treatment I received from management. I expected honesty, communication, and a sincere effort to resolve the situation. Unfortunately, I received none of those. read more

Negative -10 stars if I could! This is the third and final time I will ever stay at this hotel. At this point, it's clear this property does not represent the Comfort Suites brand or the level of hospitality guests should expect. First stay: They gave my reserved room away to another guest, leaving me to deal with an issue that never should have happened. Second stay: They gave me the wrong room key and room number. I unlocked the door and walked directly into another guest's occupied room. Not only was that embarrassing, but it was also a serious safety and security concern for both me and the other guest. Third stay: I was unable to make the trip, so I allowed my sister to use my reservation with her three children, including a 4-year-old. Somehow, the hotel locked them out of their room and left them waiting in the hallway for over three hours to regain access. Imagine having three tired children, one being only four years old, with no room, no place to rest, and no sense of urgency from hotel staff to fix the situation. That level of customer service is unacceptable. Three separate stays. Three separate major failures. These weren't minor inconveniences--they were preventable issues involving reservations, guest safety, and basic customer care. After giving this hotel multiple chances, I can confidently say I will never return. I cannot recommend this location to anyone looking for a reliable, safe, and professionally managed place to stay. read more

The water pressure in the shower was as slow as an IV drip. Upon checking in, the room key did not work nor were there any wash clothes in my room. As I headed to the front desk for the second time in 10 minutes of checking in, the wash clothes I was given were soiled. I requested that my room be cleaned the following day and it was not. When I got back to my hotel room I asked the rude front desk employee about having my room cleaned and she said, there was nothing she could do. NEVER stay here, it's dirty, cold and old. Bad experience. They had me down for 3 reservations for one damn night. Priceline scanned me for 2 reservations and I had friends and family. They couldn't delete the lower price friends and family. Then comfort inn put me in a one bed when I asked for 2 queen beds. The room was dirty and I saw a bed bug on the curtains. It was noise and it was hardly anyone in the hotel. If I could give them less than a 1 star I would. This used to be a good hotel. They raised the incidental fee from $50 for out-of-state guests to $150. The furniture in the rooms is worn and sunk in. I gave it one last chance because I had points to use but I'm done. We were there last August the rooms smelled like mildew my mom's handy cap shower was clogged and spilling out into the room. This go round I had the king suite which was actually very nice and clean. This is way different than the regular rooms. My incidental normally falls off when I check out. I would give zero stars if I could most unprofessional piss poor customer service that I've ever experienced. i've stayed at this hotel for many years. and this is the first time I've had this bad experience. It used to be my favorite place to stay as I was passing through. I made a reservation as usual for two rooms when I got there I was charged $150 holding fee for both rooms so that's 300 buck. I was told that's just in case anything was damaged. I've never had to pay that before. That night in my room, the air conditioner was so squeaky that was difficult to sleep. I was willing to look past that however, the next day I went downstairs to get the cart, came upstairs and got my luggage only to find out that the elevator was turned off. The reason I was told is because the elevator overheated I've never known an elevator to overheat what I think happened is that they turned the elevator off on purpose because there were a bunch of kids in the hotel going to the pool and going up and down the elevator, so I imagine they turned it off to make the kids take the steps meanwhile, the rest of us who have luggage have to carry all of our luggage down the stairs. I had a reservation for the next day because once again this is my favorite hotel and I was willing to look past that I didn't stay that evening, but my card was charged anyway I was told that they have a new general manager. And if you don't call and cancel, they charge your card anyway as if you were staying there I think that's very unprofessional very piss poor if that were the case, you think someone would pick up the phone and make a courtesy call to say hey are you still coming if not your card will be charged, no one told me anything about any of this. They just did what they wanted to do so they've lost a loyal customer. read more

I was not informed that the elevator was out. When I booked the room. The girl at the front desk did not tell me I could cancel my reservation. Because the elevator was out she did carry my bags upstairs.The site where I booked my stay said no cancellations allowed. When I asked are they giving any discounts because of the elevator she said what they are doing is offering me free cancellation. I already stayed at the hotel. That was a little late I believe. I could bring all my stuff but I wasn't running up and down the stairs so I had no choice but to make the best of it. The TV was hard to figure out so I didn't get to find my shows. This is the worst hotel experience ever and I never stepped foot in the hotel. I paid for the room with tax at $198 and immediately noticed a $320 charge to my card for a one night stay. After hours of trying to sort it out they wouldn't refund me. I am going through the escalation process but the customer service rep lied about me getting refunded. Our stay here was somewhat last minute, as a result of an AC issue in our Cleveland hotel room when it was hot and humid a few weekends back. The front desk lady was friendly and accommodating - about the only good thing of our stay. The elevator didn't work, which was very unfortunate. The regular bed wasn't super comfortable, and the "couch bed" had to be the flimsiest, most uncomfortable thing I have ever laid on in my entire life. They had a complimentary breakfast in the lobby, which was the most uninspiring free breakfast I have ever been provided at a hotel. I will not be coming back here again! read more

I have stayed here twice and have enjoyed my stay both times. The staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and the breakfasts were good. My only complaint is that the water pressure in the showers was poor. During my first stay, if I took a shower late, it helped. DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN. This is NOT a family friendly hotel. Start off at the beginning: Checked in hotel, was with myself and my 4 children. Was given our room on the 3rd floor, took all of our things went up there and the room had not been cleaned, bedding everywhere garbage everywhere disgusting. Went downstairs to tell them, said housekeeping/maintenance gone for the day and would see what they could do to try get us in a spare reserve room because they were fully booked. (Mind you, I had this room booked for 6 months) Gave us another room, this room was still not cleaned properly, had food all over the floor that did not belong to us and crumbs in the sheets... but we had no choice but to stay because it was the only room left. Onto the second evening, my 2 YEAR OLD daughter had got sick and threw up--- ONE time on the bed. I went down and got new bedding stripped the bed and SCRUBBED everything with soap and water at 11pm. (Probably better than they ever clean them) Gathered everything I used to clean it and put it in one central area in the bathtub. They proceeded to then charge me $300 on top of my stay for a "biohazard" fee, for my 2 year old puking THAT I cleaned up. There was no vomit anywhere and the room did not smell of it, except on ONE towel and ONE sheet. To me that does NOT warrant $300. When I called the front desk to inquire, I was talked down to like a piece of trash, general manager REFUSES to speak to me and the female manager on duty was extremely rude to me and told me to "do whatever the hell I wanted" and hung up on me when I mentioned contacting corporate. Unprofessional, disgusting, no security at this place, ONE female working at the front desk all night long- unsafe and not family friendly at all. I did even offer to let them take the $150 deposit for any "inconvenience" my 2 year old cause and they won't return any of it. I contacted corporate and they agreed that this is absurd but the General Manager David Allen has to be the one to reconcile this and he refuses to do so nor contact me regarding any of this. Thankfully corporate is going to reconcile and credit my choice account for MY inconvenience. Do better David, this is disgusting and horrible. We book 30 rooms at this hotel EVERY SINGLE YEAR for our dance studio for competition which is thousands of dollars, after speaking with my studio owner Cheryl we will NO LONGER be using this hotel. After booking my stay. There was nothing on my receipt that stated a deposit was due upon arrival. When we got there we were told a deposit of $150 was due by it being late and me being in a unfamiliar area I didn't dispute I paid the $150 on 6/7/2024 I checked out on 6/8/2024 during my stay my room was located on the 3 floor which I had to use the stairs cause the elevator was out of order which I was never sent an email or anything stating that. I was there twice last month. The second time was for my mothers funeral. During my second visit I was plagued by black flies in my room. I found them on my pillow, buzzing around my bed, in the bathroom and even dead on the floor. The treatment that I have received from the staff at this location as well as the employees in customer relations has been beyond egregious. The worst treatment by far that I have ever received by any company. On July 6th, I spoke to someone about a reservation for the weekend of August 4th and was advised that a reservation had been made under my name for my family only to find out that this had not been done. Now due to this oversight by your incompetent staff, I and my children have nowhere to stay. And had I not double checked, I would have traveled over 9 hours and arrived to this dreadful town with no room. I spent 4 hours on the phone trying to get this taken care of. During the process, I was berated, hung up on numerous times and made to feel as if I did something wrong and lacked common sense. And the next day I called again to speak to Ashlynn the person I was told was over the group rooms and was basically told the same thing "we're sold out and there's nothing I can do....." "you called outside of the window to make reservations" which was not true. I did my part in reaching out about a room well in advance. Not a single person at this location offered a solution for something that they caused. This is extremely frustrating and disheartening. And due to the treatment I have received by your employees I would never stay here. And to anyone reading this, don't dismiss this as a disgruntled guest. I was never a guest to begin with but still. Everything that I am saying is 100% true and really did happen. I'd never leave a false or unfair review for a business. November '16: A sparkly new hotel off the interstate for a great rate (we booked a day ahead of time at the AAA rate) and our family of 5 (3 small children) enjoyed good rest and a pleasant stay. Kids loved the pool. Breakfast was average, maybe a little lower, for this level of hotel. Everything still smelled & looked shiny new, from the lights to the hair dryer. Bed reading lights were a great touch. We didn't try the TV. As with a new house there are some kinks to work out from being too new- lint on new carpet & blankets, no trash can next to the coffee fixins at breakfast, etc. But certainly a four-star stay. read more

This is my 2nd time staying at this hotel. It's always a leisure trip to visit family. The check-in is usually quick and pleasant. Front desk is efficient, but not overly friendly. The rooms are very nice: large, nice sofa, clean bathroom and comfortable bed. The location is on Belmont Avenue and close to I80. Gas stations and restaurants are not far. This time the free continental breakfast consisted of waffles, bacon, eggs, pastries, yogurt and cereal. The eggs left a lot to be desired as they were overcooked and swimming in water, which wasn't very appetizing. I didn't complain-it was free. I would stay again and recommend it to others. read more

Brand new property, clean as a whistle, solid breakfast (tasted better than it looks), friendly staff... Highly recommended. We have stayed at this hotel probably 20 times while visiting family. Our July 23, 2021 WAS THE WORST experience I have ever had. Not only did they not clean our rooms (which was fine) except no clean towels, add Kleenex and toilet paper, coffee packets, there was NO 24/7 coffee as advertised and no silverware and limited breakfast buffet. I get that there is a shortage of people wanting to work BUT for $160 per night - to have no service!!!!!!!!!! the WORST part - is they charged 2 different credit cards for the same stay (that seems illegal) and having THE WORST time trying to get it straightened out. No one at the hotel (Lisa the general manager) NOR corporates office will help. It's been over 2 weeks and still no credit on credit cards. What a lovely hotel! The staff were all helpful and friendly, the room (and all the public spaces) was spotless and smelled great. And we had the best night sleep on the bed and even had a choice of pillow size! We will definitely stay here again when we drive through Youngstown. read more

My 5-person family stayed here in mid-July 2016 on a cross-country driving trip. We had a regular room -- 2 queens & a pull out couch. This hotel is a gem! I was delighted. In July 2016, this place was new, fresh, and well tended. The bathrooms were clean (including the grout), the towels were really nice & neat, the rooms were in great shape, and the staff was very pleasant. Breakfast was good. The workout room was a good size, the pool was a rectangle, there is no world pool/hot tub, but that didn't matter since everything else was so nice. I would make a point of stopping here again. My husband agreed. He said he thought it was very good, clean, new and pointed out that there is a good restaurant across the street. We will look for more Comfort Suites, especially new ones, on this trip! read more

My husband, infant son, and I stayed for two nights this past weekend. We found the staff to be efficient and hospitable and the rooms to be clean and well-accommodating. After long days, they earned the name "Comfort Suites." The shower was amazing and the beds were incredibly comfortable. Note to parents: We brought our own Pack and Play for our son to sleep in and there was still plenty of room for us to move around. I would definitely stay here again. read more

This is a nice hotel!clean room, nice staff and walking distance of Dunkin Donuts AND Handles Ice Cream. The shower is modern and large! I have a king suite includes plenty of towels, a sitting area that seats 5-6 comfortably, a sleeper sofa, 3soft and 3firm down pillows.... Free wifi, 40" flat screen premium channels. The location is back enough from the street to make it quiet! Very modern, spacious and clean. My only down side was wet carpet upon my arrival after I had already unpacked and put my things away. The employee at the counter offered to change my room, but I was already settled and expecting visitors in my room. He assured me that the manager would compensate me when he is on duty the next day. I JUST UPGRADED THIS FROM 4 star to 5 star!! I spoke with the manager Cody and was completely impressed by his level of empathy, understanding, and professionalism! Looks are deceiving. Will NEVER stay here again. While the decor may look nice this hotel is the dirtiest hotel I've ever visited. The shower had hair from previous guest as well as the bathroom floor. The towels & rags were not left out of the fun as they were left with hair also. They were replaced The comforter was stained so I requested a new one which I examined on the spot at the front desk & it was ALSO stained....WTF UNBELIEVABLE. Stayed here for cheerleading camp that we had at Youngstown state university and the employees and place seemed nice until after I left I called and said I had left a blanket. A queen sized fleece blanket that I used as a comforter at home that clearly meant something to me as it was a gift from someone that meant a lot to me. I called everyday just to get an answer that they would call me back tomorrow and nothing had been found. Finally got to speak to the GM for him to promise he would call me the next day after they did inventory and haven't heard since. It has been weeks probably a month by now. Extremely unprofessional about the whole process and didn't even have the audacity to call back and say there was nothing they could do. Very upsetting that the place was nice until I had to deal with two separate managers that were both unhelpful in the long run. read more

Went into this hotel yesterday to get service and the staff (including the manager) was completely ignorant towards me because she "thought" I was a student from the university ... She said that I would have to pay for the room and they would have to take a deposit off of my card automatically which was $150 + $159(not including tax) in case I was going to as she said "destroy the room". I may "look" young but that's no reason to assume that I would destroy anything. They must've been crazy if they thought that I would put that amount of money down on a hotel in YOUNGSTOWN; there's no high demand for hotels in this area. There's MULTIPLE hotels in the area (Hampton, Quality Inn, DoubleTree by Hilton) to name a few. Needless to say, don't judge a book by its cover... I have an amazing...
