4.5 stars overall. This DoubleTree is a high-rise hotel that is located in downtown Youngstown. The hotel is in the historic Stambaugh Building that was built in 1907, and it was renovated several years ago. Property amenities include a swimming pool, fitness center, convenience store, meeting rooms, business center, self-parking that costs $12 per night, and a restaurant called Bistro 1907. Room amenities include a large-screen LCD TV, mini fridge, free WiFi, limited room service, and on-request housekeeping. Weeks in advance, I reserved a king-bed hotel room for two nights for a total price of $312. Of course, prices vary based on the time of year, day of week, and type of room. Right before check-in, my husband and I parked our vehicle in a garage that contained some scary-looking vehicles (e.g., cars that were apparently sitting there for a very long time and one that was missing wheels). We talked with an employee on the phone, and she advised us that we could park our vehicle in their nearby parking lot. For check-in, we waited in line for a few minutes. The employee was friendly, and she efficiently checked us into our room. I felt surprised that a sign mentioned warm cookies, but no cookies were offered to us. The renovated building maintains its historical feel. In the common areas, the elevators, stairs, mailboxes, rotary phones, and doors have an old-style appearance. Our room was nicely updated and clean. We were on the tenth floor, and we had a view of the parking garage and some buildings in the city. We ate two meals in their onsite restaurant Bistro 1907, and the food and service were good. During our visit, an Italian festival was in the neighborhood. Otherwise, we ate food and did activities in the suburbs.

I wish i could give it 5 stars, but it gets sabotaged by the service. First, they clean the room every 4 days, which is too long. You can request sooner service, but they didn't clean when I requested 2 days in a row, and once they left me with no towels. Also, the mattress had lost its firmness, if it ever had any. Now the good: hotel is modern , but keeps it's old world charm. High quality materials and furnishings. Location is great, walking distance of restaurants and bars downtown.

Got upgraded to the suite #lovehilton!

Love this hotel in Youngstown! I always get treated so well when I visit, from the doorman to the front desk and housekeeping. Everyone is so friendly and helpful! And how can you pass up the warm cookie? ;)

This hotel was clean and quiet. There were several restaurants around the hotel in walking distance. We had room 301, which was at the far end of the building. Oddly the main entrance is at 1 end of the building, most hotel is in the middleish. If you have issues walking, I suggest asking for a room closer to the elevator. Our king room was huge! It felt like there was a missed opportunity as this would have been a spacious double queen room. Bathroom was at the far end of the room, which was only a little problematic when you really have to go! LOL The coat hangar on the wall is genius for rainy days or even colder weather. The only thing that puzzled us was the lack of dresser/drawer space... Microwave in the middle, fridge on the left, what is that door on the right? We opened it and it was 3 baskets. Was this our dresser/drawer space? Odd... But since we were only staying 1 night we didn't need to use this... Pool but no hot tub, tiny gym, and 1 computer and printer in the business center. Breakfast was included and it was standard hotel fare. We would definitely stay here again, if we do another long road trip.

Had room for a bassinet, stroller, walker, wheelchair, and floor space to play with seating for everyone without it being uncomfortable. Immaculate, and I was down on the carpet a lot so I got a good look. Super comfortable bed. Very sturdy dining table with six sturdy chairs. Giant, comfy Jacuzzi tub was a special treat. Small pool that was perfect for our littles (stairs in and out). Breakfast was also perfect for us: waffles, sausage or bacon, scrambled eggs with cheese, bagels, oatmeal. Really kind, helpful desk staff. Close to the highway and lots of tasty carryout. The previous reviews made me nervous, so wanted to note that as of January 2025 I'd have no reservations recommending this place to families. Only minor notes: no streaming service on the TVs, so bring your laptop or iPad for your favorite shows. No plates, silverware, or literally anything in the kitchen, so bring what you need. (Full sized fridge and microwave and sink, though - I'll just bring some dishes next time.) Couch is worn and tired, but so am I. :). And, strangely, no chain on the door so we barricaded it at night to make sure the toddler couldn't sneak out.

Negative -10 stars if I could!…read more This is the third and final time I will ever stay at this hotel. At this point, it's clear this property does not represent the Comfort Suites brand or the level of hospitality guests should expect. First stay: They gave my reserved room away to another guest, leaving me to deal with an issue that never should have happened. Second stay: They gave me the wrong room key and room number. I unlocked the door and walked directly into another guest's occupied room. Not only was that embarrassing, but it was also a serious safety and security concern for both me and the other guest. Third stay: I was unable to make the trip, so I allowed my sister to use my reservation with her three children, including a 4-year-old. Somehow, the hotel locked them out of their room and left them waiting in the hallway for over three hours to regain access. Imagine having three tired children, one being only four years old, with no room, no place to rest, and no sense of urgency from hotel staff to fix the situation. That level of customer service is unacceptable. Three separate stays. Three separate major failures. These weren't minor inconveniences--they were preventable issues involving reservations, guest safety, and basic customer care. After giving this hotel multiple chances, I can confidently say I will never return. I cannot recommend this location to anyone looking for a reliable, safe, and professionally managed place to stay.
