4.5 stars overall. This DoubleTree is a high-rise hotel that is located in downtown Youngstown. The hotel is in the historic Stambaugh Building that was built in 1907, and it was renovated several years ago. Property amenities include a swimming pool, fitness center, convenience store, meeting rooms, business center, self-parking that costs $12 per night, and a restaurant called Bistro 1907. Room amenities include a large-screen LCD TV, mini fridge, free WiFi, limited room service, and on-request housekeeping. Weeks in advance, I reserved a king-bed hotel room for two nights for a total price of $312. Of course, prices vary based on the time of year, day of week, and type of room. Right before check-in, my husband and I parked our vehicle in a garage that contained some scary-looking vehicles (e.g., cars that were apparently sitting there for a very long time and one that was missing wheels). We talked with an employee on the phone, and she advised us that we could park our vehicle in their nearby parking lot. For check-in, we waited in line for a few minutes. The employee was friendly, and she efficiently checked us into our room. I felt surprised that a sign mentioned warm cookies, but no cookies were offered to us. The renovated building maintains its historical feel. In the common areas, the elevators, stairs, mailboxes, rotary phones, and doors have an old-style appearance. Our room was nicely updated and clean. We were on the tenth floor, and we had a view of the parking garage and some buildings in the city. We ate two meals in their onsite restaurant Bistro 1907, and the food and service were good. During our visit, an Italian festival was in the neighborhood. Otherwise, we ate food and did activities in the suburbs.

I wish i could give it 5 stars, but it gets sabotaged by the service. First, they clean the room every 4 days, which is too long. You can request sooner service, but they didn't clean when I requested 2 days in a row, and once they left me with no towels. Also, the mattress had lost its firmness, if it ever had any. Now the good: hotel is modern , but keeps it's old world charm. High quality materials and furnishings. Location is great, walking distance of restaurants and bars downtown.

Got upgraded to the suite #lovehilton!

Love this hotel in Youngstown! I always get treated so well when I visit, from the doorman to the front desk and housekeeping. Everyone is so friendly and helpful! And how can you pass up the warm cookie? ;)

This hotel was clean and quiet. There were several restaurants around the hotel in walking distance. We had room 301, which was at the far end of the building. Oddly the main entrance is at 1 end of the building, most hotel is in the middleish. If you have issues walking, I suggest asking for a room closer to the elevator. Our king room was huge! It felt like there was a missed opportunity as this would have been a spacious double queen room. Bathroom was at the far end of the room, which was only a little problematic when you really have to go! LOL The coat hangar on the wall is genius for rainy days or even colder weather. The only thing that puzzled us was the lack of dresser/drawer space... Microwave in the middle, fridge on the left, what is that door on the right? We opened it and it was 3 baskets. Was this our dresser/drawer space? Odd... But since we were only staying 1 night we didn't need to use this... Pool but no hot tub, tiny gym, and 1 computer and printer in the business center. Breakfast was included and it was standard hotel fare. We would definitely stay here again, if we do another long road trip.

Had room for a bassinet, stroller, walker, wheelchair, and floor space to play with seating for everyone without it being uncomfortable. Immaculate, and I was down on the carpet a lot so I got a good look. Super comfortable bed. Very sturdy dining table with six sturdy chairs. Giant, comfy Jacuzzi tub was a special treat. Small pool that was perfect for our littles (stairs in and out). Breakfast was also perfect for us: waffles, sausage or bacon, scrambled eggs with cheese, bagels, oatmeal. Really kind, helpful desk staff. Close to the highway and lots of tasty carryout. The previous reviews made me nervous, so wanted to note that as of January 2025 I'd have no reservations recommending this place to families. Only minor notes: no streaming service on the TVs, so bring your laptop or iPad for your favorite shows. No plates, silverware, or literally anything in the kitchen, so bring what you need. (Full sized fridge and microwave and sink, though - I'll just bring some dishes next time.) Couch is worn and tired, but so am I. :). And, strangely, no chain on the door so we barricaded it at night to make sure the toddler couldn't sneak out.

Overall, the hotel was just okay, but several issues made the experience disappointing. When we arrived, the elevators were not working, so we had to carry our luggage up to the third floor. In our room, the bathroom sink had very low water pressure and drained extremely slowly. The lighting in the room was also dim and had an unpleasant yellow tint. The most frustrating issue happened after checkout. We spent a little time in another family member's room before leaving, and my son realized that he had forgotten his large satin pillow. We checked the family member's room and determined that it must have been left in our room. However, the pillow was not in the room and had not been turned in to the front desk as a lost item. The manager was not helpful and repeatedly stated that no pillow had been found. Her dismissive response was irritating and made me feel as though my concerns were not being taken seriously. The pillow did not simply disappear. While it can easily be replaced, the larger issue is the lack of accountability and concern regarding a guest's missing property. This experience left me feeling that the hotel is untrustworthy. Guests should be able to leave personal belongings behind accidentally and feel confident that hotel staff will handle the situation honestly and professionally.
