Our service technician Ron did a fantastic expert diagnostic repair on our furnace. Since the furnace would not turn on, he did a very thorough testing of the unit to find out the problem and resolved it. It was only a capacitor which needed replacement to get it up and running. He also checked tested the air conditioner for any problems. We are so happy to have an honest company locally in San Leandro. We needed to replace our old HVAC systems. After receiving a few estimates, we were really torn between two different companies, but ultimately we went with Comfy. In retrospect, we're a little disappointed that we didn't choose the other company, as that person was super detail oriented and the price and products were similar. We are very pleased with our new units. The team who installed the units were great. We also found their office staff to be professional and accommodating. The issue we had was with the communication between Austin, who did the quote for us, and his team. During the installation process, it was clear that the team had not been provided all of the details of our project. This added additional work for the team to correct. When we had our inspection, there were a couple of additional items to address in order to pass. Due to lengthy gaps in communication with Austin plus the availability of his chosen tech to do this work, this ended up taking months. All and all, we are very happy with our new units, so that's the important thing. The price was good, quality of the product great and the team that installed did great work. Unfortunately, I'm knocking off 2-stars due to the lack of communication and the drawn out process to complete the project. read more

TLDR - Not the best communication or installation experience. They needed to come back twice after the initial installation to fix cracks left in my ceiling -- and they were not proactive with communication. I don't write many negative reviews, but my experience with Comfy was disappointing and I wouldn't work with them again.. Before I get into the details, I'll say that the furnace system they installed works and passed inspection. But before you have them work on your system, take before and after pictures. After getting a few estimates for a new hvac system, we chose Comfy due to cost and great Yelp and Google reviews. Austin came out for an estimate on Jan 25, 2022, and a team installed the our new furnace Feb 8-9. Here's when the disappointing communication starts. We didn't live at the house, and when they finished the installation, they didn't contact me at all. I had to reach out to the technicians a day after the estimated completion date to ask if they were done, and they confirmed the work was complete. On 2/12, I go to the house to check the work, and I see really bad cracks on the wall where they had to cut for the gas line and on the ceilings where they installed vents. I was shocked. They didn't tell me about this at all. Yes, the walls are plaster, but how dare you leave my house in this condition and not tell me?! On 2/14, I sent Austin pictures of the cracks, and he said he'll follow up. By 2/22, I hadn't heard from him, so I called the office and spoke to Angie, who scheduled someone to come fix the cracks. Finally. I would've appreciated more proactive communication from them. I also asked about the permit because I hadn't seen a permit, even though the installation was done. When I finally got a copy of the permit, the application wasn't filed until 2/22. Shouldn't they get the permit before doing the work?! They need to better communicate every step of the process from installation to final inspection. After they fixed the cracks, I noticed that they didn't fix 2 other cracks, one where the bedroom vent is, and one where a brand new thermostat was installed, so I texted Austin again on 3/4. He told me the technician said the crack was already there, and that you can see rounded edges in the crack and some paint, which indicates it's been like that. He also said that they had to cut the wall for the gas line but not for the thermostat. Ummm how TF did you guys install one without cutting the wall when there was nothing there before?? BS. I asked him that and he ignored it and said fresh cracks do not have paint or rounded edge. Also, why TF would I be okay with you guys installing a thermostat if there was a crack there? You can see in the picture that the crack starts where the thermostat is. Unfortunately, I don't have a before picture, so take what you will from this review. They did come back to fix the crack in the bedroom though. One last thing that bugged me -- I gave them the payment for the work after they fixed the last crack. Later that afternoon, I get a voicemail from them telling me I have to give them a check. How about double checking with your team first before calling me to ask for a check that I already gave? I also had to schedule the final inspection myself. Not sure if this is common. As you can see, my experience with Comfy wasn't great, and I hope this review helps. read more

5 stars. Would give higher if I could! Bottom line up front - Good prices, very responsive, good/fast service, experts in HVAC and electrical. I contacted Comfy along with 3 other AC companies in the Tri-Valley area to replace an upstairs unit. I asked for several quotes on different types of AC units and only Comfy and 1 other gave me the correct quotes the first time. Comfy was more expensive but I had a better feeling about them so I asked them to come down and match which they did. Install was scheduled out 3 weeks and took 2 days, it all went smoothly. About 5 months later the unit stopped working during a heat wave but my downstairs unit kept working. Honestly was pretty annoyed since this is a new unit and my downstairs unit is over 20 years old. The Comfy unit kicked back on after the heat died down and worked normally. The service tech came out later that week and couldn't find anything wrong. This past Sunday (3 day Labor Day Weekend) the upstairs unit quit again and stayed off (old unit continued to work normally). I was very annoyed at this point but Comfy got a tech out on Thursday. The tech determined that there was no power going to the AC unit. My AC units are powered by their own breaker mounted right next to them and he determined there was power to the downstairs unit but not the upstairs. He disabled the power to the breaker and took it off, THE ENTIRE BACK WAS MELTED AND CORRODED!!! This was not a Comfy problem, it was an electrical problem. LUCKILY, the tech, Abel, was also an electrician, he ran out to the store, got the parts, and mounted a new breaker box for me. Both AC units have been humming. I did still have to pay for it because this is not a warranty issue but well worth the price. This was probably a major fire hazard. Thanks Abel! read more

This team is amazing. Gustavo came out Friday at 4pm on Memorial Day weekend to service our air conditioner. He spent a long time finding out the problem, which was a small break in the refrigerant line (the system is over 12 years old). I had zero (0) psi in my system. Abel, who fixed our heating unit and installed our ac 12 years ago even remembered our system! He knew the piping and how it was set up. I was thinking the cost of repairs would be close to a new system. Abel explained the details and it wasn't even close. So Gustavo worked till after 8 pm to fix everything and get the system working (I even had to wear a jacket in the house till he got it just right). Even Heidi handled all of my, probably lame, questions with professionalism and courtesy. These are the people you want to handle your AC and heating concerns. After 18 years and the adverse effects of global warming more obvious in recent years, we finally bit the bullet and installed AC and replace our furnace with a more energy efficient one. Since there were technically two installations, they sent a team of 3, Miguel and Pedro who worked mainly on the removal of the old furnace and the installation of the new one in our attic while Rigo single handedly installed our condenser and sealed our ducts/vents so we can pass the upcoming HERS test. They were friendly and efficient finishing the project up in a day. Although it has not been hot enough to really give the AC much of a workout yet, we did test it out for a couple of hours. It's been over a year since my last update. I thought to leave it at that, but I've received a couple phone calls now asking me to remove the pictures that show their business in a negative light. Surprisingly, in none of these calls did they ask if my furnace was working properly. This year has been hard on everybody so fine, I will remove the pictures, but I'll update my review to include the conclusion (I hope) to this saga. My furnace was short-cycling. Something definitely was not right. What more could I do other than to keep pushing the issue? I felt like I was being gaslit, which is appropriately named in this case. So in Fall 2019, I called a completely different HVAC company to take a look. Since my furnace was only 7 months old, they pointed out that it's still covered under Comfy's warranty and should be fixed for free. I BEGGED them to help me instead. They showed compassion, diagnosed the problem, resolved two issues, and after all this time, I finally had a working furnace. My pictures have been removed. I now I have a 16" MERV filter instead of the 1" my furnace came with-this will be so useful if we have fire seasons again. They worked on my ducts and fixed a few that not hooked up or connected incorrectly. I was told the job would take two days--they finished it in one full day! My 3 person team (Carlos, Jefferson and Claudio) did a great job. They were friendly, communicative and respectful of my space. I also appreciated that the owner estimated the work and kept the cost down by installing the system with my current duct work. He also knew the city codes well so the AC system location should not raise any red flags with it's location on the side of my house. I got 5 estimates before going with this company for the work. BEWARE OF THESE SCAMMERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We got a heating and AC unit installed in our home. Our neighbors told us that the AC condenser was installed in an area that was not on code. We called Comfy back and they said it was, even had an installer come by and confirmed. Well, the neighbors called the city of Oakland and the city told us that it was true, that the installation was not only not on code but Comfy made a non-complying job on our premises. So we called Comfy back. No answer. Called again. No answer. Emailed twice.No answer. They are clearly aware that they did not do a professional job and that the condenser needs to be moved and installed correctly and are avoiding us completely. We had another company come and quote the work (as we need to comply with the city of Oakland) and the work costs $5500!!!! to get it up to code. Comfy claims to have excellent customer service, high quality. Well, it seems that it doesn't apply to us. The least they can do is show face and fix the problem at no cost to us.
