My experience with Harris Water Heaters has been extremely disappointing. Unless you're extremely desperate, I would never ever use them! Especially not the technician Raul!!! The WORST!!! The same technician RAUL was sent to two different properties of mine. About a month ago, he came to my home in San Francisco. This past weekend, he came to my home in Oakland. In both cases, instead of repairing the water heater, he concluded that there were installation issues that prevented him from performing the work. Those findings were then reported to my home warranty company, which used them to deny coverage until I pay to correct the alleged issues myself, or hire them outside of the insurance company to probably pay a higher amount than what they would pay the insurance company. He left a note on my table with the cost to repair of $1200. I find it very difficult to understand how the same technician reached essentially the same conclusion at two completely different homes. It gives the impression that he was looking for reasons not to perform the repair rather than making every effort to diagnose and fix the problem. I never even met the technician because I was at work during both visits, but based on the reports and the outcome, I have no confidence in the quality of the service provided. He spent over 45min trying to locate the water shutoff valve and was unable to do so before considering leaving the job. That does not inspire confidence in his expertise. As a direct result of these visits, I have now been without hot water for five days. I am spending my own money to hire an independent licensed plumber, while also fighting my home warranty company's denial of coverage. This situation has caused unnecessary stress, inconvenience, and expense. I cannot recommend Harris Water Heaters based on my experience. I expected an honest evaluation and a genuine effort to complete the repair. Instead, I was left with denied claims, additional costs, and no hot water. read more

Excellent service! I was surprised by how fast they responded through my home warranty. They sent a technician, Joseph, the same day I filed the claim. My 10 year old water heater had an ignition issue, and other companies said it needed a full replacement. A bit of a long read but covers my whole experience. I get you pay for experience but you don't pay for crazy price gouging. My water heater started to leak on Saturday. I called my home warranty who scheduled my appointment with this company to replace it. They came out and wrote up a quote and sent me a quote based on what home warranty would cover vs what I had to pay out of pocket. I approved the work which was done. On Monday I got a call from them saying they quoted me wrong and my coverage didn't cover certain things after the tech on Saturday said he had to review my coverage before my quote. Monday they said I need to pay more money out of pocket (several hundred dollars) due to their mistake of my coverage and the clerk said if she was in on Saturday it would've been caught. So basically they spent my money without my approval and money I didn't authorize and are now expecting me to pay and told me I can't get a permit and or warranty work if it's not paid. They made a mistake not me. Also after reviewing the quote the code section has a list of parts. The mark up on parts is over 100% on basically every part. 80 dollars for a 2x4 piece of wood and 81 dollars for a drain pan which is less than 30.. I don't recommend this company due to the issues above. I understand mistakes are made but they just expect me to pay more based on their mess up and more than I authorized them to spend. read more

Had our hot water heater go down Sunday night but was able to re-ignite however with much difficulty and unusual sounds from the heater so decided to keep appt that I had scheduled via our home warranty with First American and was referred to Harris Water Heaters. We have been very apprehensive with the contractors sent by our warranty company as our track record was 50% with previous contractors. Entire process with Harris was seamless and efficient from scheduling to the service itself which was within 12hrs of our request! Randy was our technician and we can corroborate others who have had nothing but praise for his work as the superlatives are justifiable. He was efficient in diagnosing and providing a solution. But these guys pleasantly surprised me by scheduling and replacing the water heater the same day. They fixed all prior issues w/ hot water running in a few hours. The crew was professional and courteous. Thanks. Just a month after they installed a new water heater that seems faulty from the start, slowly leaking water from everywhere. They installed it as part of my home owner warranty. The person I spoke to explained that they can only come out if I raised another paid service request with Old republic. Even though they admitted it was a lemon and the pressure release was improperly installed. Now I'm expected to pay additional trade call fee for a poor job done in the first place. Hows that for quality of service and accountability? They are unwilling to diagnose the problem to claim a replacement water heater without charging me for a site visit. Unfair!! read more

His quote was not only comprehensive but also itemized easily to be understood. He took the time to thoroughly explain all my questions and even had the patience for me to wait for all my calls to my prior warranty service and new warranty service for the prior and current work while his friendly and professional demeanor never changed. Andrew's work was impeccable and didn't cut any corners. In fact, I'd say it was much better than expected and completed under the time he quoted. Thank you Andrew! Btw, may not be a big deal for some, but I also really appreciated the link they sent me that allows you to track their ETA to your appointment in real time. I contacted my home warranty company due to my hot water heater leaking and not providing me hot water. They dispatched a technician to diagnose the problem. This technician told me that I had a number of code violations with my water heater and that no repairs or replacement would be covered by my home warranty company. This technician told me that I would need to pay out of pocket $600 with no promises that the water heater would work again or pay him $6000 for a new water heater that wouldn't even fit into my water heater closet. This was all a lie as I had a home inspection when I bought my condo, which showed no code violations and 2 other plumbers confirm that there was no code violations. I have spoken with a manager here to give them the opportunity to take responsibility for lying to me about what my home warranty company will and will not cover and they refused to do this. This lie forced me to find another company to asses the issue with my 10+ year old water heater, as I can not afford to throw away $600 and still have no hot water and I certainly can't afford a $6000 water heater. I also couldn't go without hot water for 2 weeks or even more if the repair didn't work. This place is unethical and immoral, I warn you against using them for any of your hot water heater and or plumbing needs. read more
