I hired Command performance for my Wedding on 09/13/14 at Malibu West Beach Club. I had been working with Joe form the start. He was on top of everything, always got back to me right away and was very accommodating with all the changes I kept making with the menu. He was honest and always gave me his personal input when asked. Since I had no experience with putting a wedding together, I relied on some of my vendors' input to have everything be as perfect as possible. C.P provided us with appetizers, buffet style dinner, gourmet coffee/tea bar, desserts, bar, bartenders and wait staff. We provided all the alcohol. Couple days prior to the wedding I found out that the table set up I had planned on was not going to work, which created a last minute almost break down for me. Joe spend a great deal of time with me over the phone the last couple of days before the wedding to adjust the tables and to make it work with less (larger) tables and keeping the seating chart the way it was. He kept reassuring me that everything will work out. Day of the wedding: The professionalism and promptness of the whole team really impressed us. The table set up was perfect, the staff was very friendly. The bartenders amazing! Their fresh lemonade was a huge hit! The way they decorated the dessert table and coffee bar was beautiful. Now to the food: BEST CATERING FOOD I have ever had. We received so many compliments from our guests about the food, desserts and the service. Seriously, Command Performance is a 5-star catering service in my book and I will 100% hire them again when I need catering. They are worth every penny!! The only thing that saved this catering company was the food on the day of my wedding. Robert, our representative was terrible to work with. He was disorganized and made the last few days before my wedding a total nightmare by waiting until the last minute to clarify details. He was also unresponsive when I tried to call about renting equipment he requested. To add insult they served the wrong chicken dish at the wedding. I wouldn't recommend them, but you don't have much of a choice in Ventura County and they seem to dominate the catering business there. read more

CPC just catered our daughters wedding and the whole experience was AWESOME! FOOD- The guests keep raving to us about the food, dreaming about the white cheddar jalapeño mac and cheese and the BBQ short ribs! The epicurean salad , roasted pepper veggies with toasted pistachio butter and pesto artichoke chicken were also a huge hit. " best food ever had at a wedding" "our table was dead quiet the first 10 minutes cause we were all devouring happily & intently!" are just a few of the comments we've gotten. The apps were wonderful: smoked salmon with caviar. Beef with puffed pastry ( forgot name) and the ahi on wonton!! I didn't taste the flatbread one. Some people missed the apps which were tray passed but I was busy talking and they may have been too and not looking. Maybe I'd recommend 1 station and less tray passed ?! ROBERT - the catering manager that we worked is a remarkable person who cares only about your wishes and make them happen. Period. What a joy to have a service industry person who actually cares about you and serves. It is obvious he Loves his job!! What a blessing he was. He was an invisible presence ensuring all was perfect and it was. He welcomed and did extra things without complaint or comment for us to help bride stick with her theme!! He even had staff unwrap our ice cream cookie sandwiches all night to display that we brought for dessert without Being asked as we felt it was too much to ask ( We'd asked for just the very first ones out to be unwrapped) He assured me the BUFFET line would be short and food warm and it was! They set it up perfectly with 2 equal, nice stations where you could serve self On two sides so FOUR lines basically!! No complaints about cold food And no Long waits and people loved getting seconds. I've been to weddings with long lines and cold food. Not with CPC. (Not a fan of sit downs because food is limited types and amounts. and often slow- likely not w/ CPC though) BARTENDERS- Miraculous. They were wonderful. Robert And venue told us we'd need only 2 with CPC bartenders For our 170 people. I was concerned since the last two weddings We'd been to this past summer had 3 and 4 bartenders ( 160 and 200 persons weddings) and the lines were quite long and people (lamely) complained. But Robert said they have it down and are efficient / & with tray passing drinks to start ... And they were right!!! We listened and didn't hire an extra bartender which was not needed as they said. We had a partial bar but with a lot of alcohol, signature drinks and wines, champ bottled beers. COFFEE- I know. Why review coffee? Cause it was BOMB! Roberts says its cinnamon added but whoever their vendor is knows great coffee beans!! And Robert & staff had no problem spiffing up the COFFEE BAR for us either! Bride got to bring baileys and kahlua too for it along with CPC's chocolate chips and cinn sticks. We also had some theme decor we wanted and he added it without issue. Since we both LOVE food and wanted the best for our guests, this was a huge source of concern throughout the wedding planning process. However, once we found Command Performance, we were constantly reassured that we would have excellent food and service. Trevor Fitzpatrick is absolutely wonderful to work with. He is accommodating, reassuring, and he was my only correspondent from start to finish. He truly went above and beyond for our wedding- meeting with us several times for special requests and tastings. On the night of our wedding, Trevor's presence was very comforting- I knew that we were in good hands. His staff was very friendly and made sure that all guests were comfortable, satiated, and enjoying themselves. Food: amazing! Service: Outstanding! They have been doing this for so long that they have it down pat. We were in email contact with Joe working out the details for the months leading up to our wedding. Finally got to meet the man on the wedding day :) Joe was great. Calm and cool the day of. Everything went so smoothly the day of. All the staff was professional. Sandra was assigned as the person in charge of keeping us hydrated and fed during the reception an she did a great job of that! We picked out our own food for the buffet instead of going with one of the set menus. We didn't want a bbq menu at the Walnut Grove venue for the wedding. We went in and had a tasting. They suggested these amaretto cookies and we got lots of compliments on those. Their food is all so fresh. We got the most compliments on the food. At the end of the night, everything was wrapped up nicely for us to take home (the top tier of the cake was quadruple wrapped and ready for freezing if we so choose to do that and the extra cases of wine that we did not finish were ready). We had nothing to worry about. I would hire them again if we had a catered event. The only minor thing is that it was tough to set up an individual tasting. We didn't mind as much though, because they are so popular and busy. They do all the food for the Ronald Reagan library and at the time, they were doing food for an event during the Grammy's. Robert and his team at Command Performance did our wedding on 6/14/14 at Camarillo Ranch House. I highly recommend working with Robert if possible. My husband is more of a 'foodie' and has fun with homebrewing, so for our wedding, we wanted anything but typical "wedding food" if at all possible and were so happy we found both great food/drinks and service with Command. ABBREVIATED version PROS: Robert is very knowledge with event planning, all staff seemed courteous on our wedding day, our guests raved about the teriyaki salmon (and the food in general), price point very competitive with other caterers, tons of great menu options Bride and groom favs: braised short rib app, strawberry shortcake dessert Minor Con: keep in mind transportation/storage of alcohol prior to your event (they are unable to store your liquor for liability reasons) which was a little tricky for us since we live in the South Bay; but it can be worth the hassle of BYOB to save a little money MENU (guest count ~260): Buffet style Cocktails: strawberry mojitos, (our homebrew beer, and other common liquor/wine/beer) Apps: braised short ribs, salmon baguettes, tuna poke Entrees: carving station (very nice option for guests), teriyaki salmon Dessert: strawberry shortcake (we also had traditional cake from an outside vendor, Command handled cake cutting) DETAILS: Robert was AWESOME from the day we met him a year and a half prior to our wedding. He just happened to be at the venue setting up for a wedding and came to introduce himself as we were checking out the venue. It was really early on during the planning process and so he had a lot of helpful insight that comes from being a great captain/event planner. He does events at Maravilla Gardens regularly and so we were really hoping he could be at our venue. He promptly returned estimates for proposal requests. Of course, we got quotes from a handful of other caterers as well. We had narrowed our caterer options down to 2 (another had head chef from a highly regarded LA-based restaurant). Price points were very similar. Command Performance won out because we were totally impressed with Robert's service/knowledge and Command had SO many food options (the other caterer had a handful of selections for each course, albeit the choices were very tasty). We attended 2 'showcase' events that Command was at. Lots of chicken entrees...we took a gamble with the salmon, never having tried it before the wedding, and luckily it was spot-on! Most of our guests were Asian and so we were ecstatic once we heard that Command's head chef had trained in Hawaii and could do poke and teriyaki salmon. Supposedly she had her poke recipe featured in Sam Choy's cookbook (or cooking competition or something of that nature in the past). Our venue had gone through some administrative changes during our planning process and so the main site coordinators were new...and sometimes I didn't think the venue had helpful information and I would just trust/ask Robert instead. As it got closer to our wedding day and preparations were in full crunch-time mode, Robert was always there for us. He worked well with our wedding coordinator; and complemented her well. What an incredible catering company! We worked with Melanie throughout the process of picking table settings, linens and our menu. We loved her! She was great to work with. For budget reasons we decided to do a buffet rather than a plated meal and we were a little worried that the buffet would be crowded and not set up nicely. But, we were very happy with how amazing everything turned out and how well they had it organized to where there wasn't any over crowding. And ALL of the food was so delicious! I have to admit that at first, I was leery of using a caterer, out of fear that the food at my wedding would be the typical, boring, chicken or fish that no one ever remembers or even cares for all that much. Most weddings I've been to, we end up grabbing junky fast food on our way home because we didn't care for our dinners! But, the day my husband and I went in to finalize our menu and pick linens, etc. Trevor was so helpful in giving us lots of options and helping us create just what we had in mind. We opted for a less traditional, more casual yet still chic fare. Trevor was able to create a comfort food buffet that felt like home but didn't look like home. He gave us great passed appetizers, and made our burger and fried chicken dinner look elegant with flower arrangements, beautiful fresh grilled vegetables, and the best jalapeno mac and cheese I've ever had! Our guests absolutely loved the non-traditional fare and still talk about the abundance of food as well as how good it was. The servers and bar staff the day of were really great, super friendly, and on top of everything. I really appreciated their help.
