If you're coming to Steve for the first time make sure you have about 2 hours of wiggle room so he can really take his time to explain his methodology and technique. First off - don't think twice, trust this man with your hair and he will work wonders. Steve has been cutting my hair for yearssss (even after moving away I still come back) and I am always amazed by the result. He is a true hair sculptor and it's like watching a master at work. A few things that I appreciate: He always manages to thin out my thick hair perfectly, he has given me many different styles and lengths and each one is the best haircut I've ever had. Just like a few other customers on Yelp I too was looking for someone to fix a bad haircut. I was skeptical at first when I came across this salon because I had never heard of a dry cut. I was also looking for someone that was within walking distance from work. I am so happy I found Steve. He knows his stuff. He said my hair needed TLC and he gave it and the results were amazing. It's taken me about 2 years to write this review. Steve's haircuts are pretty amazing! It was my first dry haircut so I was initially not knowing what to expect. He also prefers if you have 1-3 days of hair that hasn't been washed and if you are anything like me I HAVE TO WET MY HAIR EVERYDAY. But I managed with one day shampooing and two days of just conditioner. The haircut turned out great! A bit shorter than what I had in mind but I was cool with it. Definitely check him out! I love my hair but have been wanting it to be thinner (the scourge of thick hair: it's heavy and takes so long to dry). Steve made my hair so much lighter and a hundred times sexier! I swear, I even wake up with a sexy bedhead. Other things I liked: +Steve is not greedy! With his caliber and experience he could easily charge hundreds but he doesn't. +He knows his stuff. I learned a lot about hair, how to care for it, what makes a good haircut, and even some of the salon industry's dirty little secrets ;) +No products at all were pushed on me. He only suggested that I get baby powder ($4), or Tresemme dry shampoo ($5) and Loreal hair spray ($15). I got the hairspray at Target and I love it. +He's an artist. Drop by his studio and you will see some of his works (the wigs made of safety pins are my favorite). +He can tell whether you're left or right handed just by looking at your hair (haha) +/- His studio is not a pet-free environment. Steve is a hair artist first and foremost. He looked at my (lackluster) newly cropped hair and took the time to fix/transform it into something much more amazing. First good review I've ever posted without being prompted. Steve was awesome. Over the last 10 years I've consistently changed my hair style, ranging from a buzz cut to long, shoulder length hair and everything in between. I never really know what I want outside of showing the barber/ hair dresser a picture or giving a brief description. My hair grows quickly and I'm not picky, so I'm never that worried. Typically with longer hair, I always go in knowing I've got an approx. 2 week "awkward" period before I grow into the cut. I can safely say that this is the first time in my life I've walked out of a hair cut stoked about the result and not needing that 2 week period. I've found my hair dresser for as long as I'm in LA. Steve is great! The studio is clean, the conversation was great and the cut even better. To top it off, his schedule is fairly flexible and he worked with me to get me in. I had my first cut with Steve today and I couldn't have been happier. I've never felt like I've had such a personalized haircut ever as I did today. When I told him what I wanted he asked me numerous times if I was sure instead of just doing it like other stylists. He's very creative too and really tries to come up with a look specialized for you. On top of that, he's really experienced and I know he can charge a crap load but he's not cocky like that. If you want a hairstylist that actually has your best interest in heart, get your haircut here! First of all, he does great work at a really reasonable price. That's already enough said. What's even better is he's a really fun person to talk to, so seeing him is like seeing a friend that also does a great job cutting your hair. Tips for for first timers, note that he only does dry cutting- meaning he doesn't wash your hair before hand, so you won't have any surprises when you hair dries up from a wet cut like at regular saloons. I also alway pays in cash, so you may want to ask him about payment method beforehand, but there are quite a few banks in the area, so I wouldn't worry. Also his place in the gas building, ask the lobby person for his place and they will direct you to his floor :) read more

Steve David and his wife Heather are AWESOME. They are super flexible - I needed an early appt and they opened specially for me to meet my needs. They worked as a duo - dolling me up to get ready for a special event (the Grammy's!). I am no celebrity and no one would be looking at me except myself and my husband (for a minute) but they made me feel special and pretty for the big day. The hair do held ALL night. So did the makeup. I felt very done-up for the day, but not overdone - a delicate balance. They took into account my dress, jewelry, style and color preferences, etc - made it all come together, in less than 2 hours, and for a very fair price. Steve is a ROCK STAR!!! I have gone to him twice and each time to try on a different look and he pulls it off effortlessly. During the first trip, I was wondering why he prefers to see your dirty and unwashed hair but I learnt that it makes it easier for him to understand what your hair looks and feels like on every other day.
