    Back entrance of building
    Krisdena R.

We checked this place out while visiting friends. It offers a dining area and bar area with high tops and pool tables. We parked behind building and entered through back door (dining room seating is accessible from this door). The building appeared recently updated and clean. Being a Monday night, it wasn't too busy/loud. We ordered mozzarella appetizer w/marinara sauce; fried fish & chips w/side salad; fried fish w/baked potato & french onion soup; burger, fries & brew special; and grilled cheese and apple sauce. Received warm bread "basket" w/dinners. Food arrived hot and portions were ample (wished there was a 1/2 sized fish & chips or at least a fish sandwich option on menu). Mozzarella sticks were stretchy, French onion soup was way too garlicky for my taste, fish & chips were crispy (fries were coated w/some sort of batter), baked potato was huge, and burger was huge (1/2 lb, bun was a bit thin & became soggy). Friendly and attentive staff.

This is another review for this restaurant. My last review was a year ago. Not much really stood out as being very spectacular at this restaurant but the Thai cauliflower. Tonight was a different story. They have completely upgraded their flatbreads and now seem to have a more homemade crust. Their pasta dishes were amazing and you can even substitute a black bean burger for a vegetarian option. The onion rings were crunchy and hot. Their Thai cauliflower is absolutely delicious and one of the reasons we came back. Please don't take this off your menu. I wish we got pictures of the food, but we were with a group and got distracted. The service was great as well and we were taken care of. We did have a big party of seven, but they accommodated us well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall, the vibe here was really nice and welcoming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Live music was also setting up and getting ready to play.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We didn't say for the full show, but it is a great addition to the evening. Please keep vegetarian options on the menu and keep on expanding. We will return again.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]A nice casual restaurant that has a regular sit down diner side and a bar on the other side.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu has a great range of food options and even some unique dishes to try. I had a French dip sandwich with tater tots. It was a bit on the salty side, but overall tasted really good. The bread and butter for the appetizer was delicious and so was their dill pickle flatbread. The server was really nice and had great suggestions for new visitors like us.

We've enjoyed everything we've tried here. This Friday was an even better surprise. I ordered the potato skins because I wasn't too hungry, expecting some small frozen bar food version. Nope!! These were huge, homemade and delicious! Had extra for lunch Saturday

5 stars all the way! No joke, I've waited awhile before posting this review. Wanted to be completely honest and transparent. After eating here multiple times, with my wife, friends and our family, I can absolutely stand by a no bullshit 5 star rating. Commercial House is leaps and bounds above what previously resided in the historic downtown Richmond building they now have settled into. They have truly made a name for them selves! I will post the dishes we've ordered, drinks we've had, but I tell, the pictures do no justice! Commercial House has set new standards in dining across the board. Owned by a local family, you feel something different when you enter the old building, love. From the staff to every bite of food. The staff. Every single time I've been to Commercial House we've been met with smiles and good attitudes. Never had to wait more that a minute for drinks and the food comes out promptly, beautiful and hot! Their dedication to service is really something great, so absolutely show them their worth when you visit with a sound tip! The Food. Where do I start? I've had a good deal of items on the menu, from the ribs, to the salmon salad, clam chowder (which is a tough one after spending 7 years in New England) chicken and dumpling soup, the burgers, the drinks!! All of it!! What stands out to me is 2 things. 1) quality of ingredients. Every dish is beaming with flavor! The fact they use fresh ingredients is extremely prevalent, and for the prices (which are pretty standard) you are getting quality meals high above the "standard". 2) consistency. Every time I've ordered the delicious dishes they offer come out exactly as delicious as the time before. 100% hats off the the kitchen staff, the pride in their work could not be more American! They prepare the dishes with extreme attention to detail! Their skills and dedication are obvious in their dishes. But listen. This is my review! I'm a fan, obviously. The only way for YOU to know if I'm full of it or not is to go in, eat, and decide. Then, try it again, and again. My guess is you will feel much like I did! Hopefully I can get a few more good reviewers to test my review and add on what they think! So hats off to Commercial House owners and staff for giving a truly great dining experience!! We appreciate you and will most definitely be back often!

After reading the reviews on Yelp this became a must try. It did not disappoint. Everything was amazing. Started with the deep fried cauliflower and calamari. Both so good. The ribs are the best I've ever had. It has a dry rub and a sauce. It gave it a slight crunch on the outside and so tender inside. The perch was also great. The prices for the quality of food is great

I was…read moreexpecting to walk in and get fried or baked lake fish, but to my surprise this place goes for a more tropical theme. Soon as you walk in, you feel like you were transported to a tropical island in the Caribbean. Most of the seafood items consist of lobster, shrimp and mahi. But they also offer burgers, various chicken dishes, and tropical drinks. I was not expecting to like the restaurant this much, but they are a hidden gem. The lobster roll I got came with pineapple coleslaw for $24, which is a pretty good deal for lobster roll. I also asked to have it with a side of chips, which was a good idea as it gave my meal more texture since the lobster rolls are very soft, but delicious nonetheless due to the fact they use Hawaiian rolls for the sandwich bread. I finished my meal with a slice of key lime pie, which was also excellent. The staff here are also very polite and do their best to make sure you are satisfied. 100% worth a visit even if you don't live close to them (no matter what time of year)

Unfortunately, when we arrived, the soft-serve margarita machine was down and we were told it would be another 30 minutes. We decided to order different drinks instead, but in hindsight we could have waited because our food didn't arrive for nearly an hour and a half. When we first got there, there was only one other table occupied, so the wait was really surprising. As time went on, more people started coming in and being seated, but it seemed like several tables weren't being greeted for quite a while. We even watched one table get up and leave before anyone came over to them. There also seemed to be a lot of confusion at the entrance because the host stand is awkwardly placed. Multiple people looked unsure whether they were supposed to seat themselves or wait to be seated, and the layout just isn't very inviting or intuitive for guests or even the staff. We ordered the lobster roll with a side of mac and cheese and a chicken bowl. The lobster roll was incredibly disappointing--dry, lacking flavor, and honestly just unpleasant. The mac and cheese and chicken bowl were okay, but nothing memorable enough to justify the wait or the price. Speaking of the price, this meal was expensive, which made the experience even more disappointing. I left feeling like I had wasted my money. I had really been looking forward to trying this restaurant, but between the unavailable signature drink, the extremely long wait, the confusing atmosphere, and the underwhelming food, it was a frustrating experience from start to finish. I genuinely regret spending the money here and, unfortunately, don't see myself coming back.

After looking at different caterers, we chose Pizza Replicator to cater the party of 85. We were having trouble working with the venue to allow the caterer to find a place to cook the pizzas. Max contacted the venue and worked out all the details. On the day of the event, he and his staff arrived promptly and started with the appetizers which were outstanding. Once he transitioned to pizza, the pizzas were continuously replaced until everyone had eaten. Everyone raved about the food. We couldn't be happier about hiring Max and his team and couldn't recommend him enough.

In New York, slices are for folding and eating while on the go, because... well... I guess that's what capitalism does to you. Pizza Replicator is replicating none of these pizzas. Nope. It's just a Star Trek TNG inspired pizza concept where Max Sussman gets to have a little bit of fun with seasonal ingredients, dough, and some portable pizza ovens. Personally, I love to support pizza innovation. Max's pizza is about as good as it can be considering it's cooked up in the back of a coffee shop on any given Sunday. More than anything, I want Max to get a permanent home here in A2 with a legit Neapolitan oven where he can really get some better color on the bottoms of those pies. I've had a few of these so far. Italian sausage with pepperoncini, provolone, and broccoli rabe. Brussels and guanciale with aged gouda, fresh mozzarella, and garlic. Soujouk and Za'atar with onion and green zhug. Asparagus and gruyere with meyer lemon, caramelized onion, and pine nuts. Spanish Chorizo, manchego, roasted peppers. My favorite one to date was the meyer lemon. Dang, that was deliciously unexpected! But those crispy nuggets of guanciale were dynamite too! Ultimately, these are designed to be take out pies, and I'm just not a take out pizza kinda guy. Because I believe pizza is best when it's fresh hot now, I grab my pie, b-line to my parked car, and eat the pizza in the driver's seat like a savage beast. Even when I have shown up early for my scheduled pizza pick up, I have had little luck in getting super hot pies with crisp edges and well colored bottoms. Recently I learned that one can request the pizza "well done" and I am looking forward to giving that a try. But I love the culinary creativity and I am happy to keep trying Max's new pies when my Sunday schedule lines up with available pizza slots. One has to keep an eye on the Pizza Replicator Instagram page and move quickly, because these things sell out. I have gotten over my FOMO, and am happy to simply sample these pizzas when the stars align. Which, you know, is why I'm comfortable to share this with the Yelp Community. Max's efforts are hardly a secret as they were just recently covered in the food press. But yet there is no listing on Yelp?

I was pleasantly surprised at the efficiency we saw from the busy crowd and the food not taking 10 years. The food was tasty. I truly enjoyed my Korean spicy fries. Spicy in name not truly spicy to cause a burn if that makes sense. I was craving a traditional breakfast plate but the staff and my friends who are local insisted that I needed to try the Korean fries so I did both. Was it greedy of me? Absolutely. Did I care? No. The locally sourced sausage was also very tasty. I must try to find it to cook at home. My friends ordered their regular go-to meals so it was great according to them. The burger and the duck hash. I think I'll go back and try the duck hash next time for sure. And another thing, there's a particular parking garage they validate a couple hours for. So parking is not an issue in this downtown office building.
