In layman terms, the drive-thru worker stank. Badly. When my mother points out how overwhelming the aroma of weed is, instead of being apologetic, the drive-thru worker immediately gets defensive (as all junkies in denial do) and proceeds to call my mom and I quote a "f*ckin idiot". The worker also claimed that she had cancer and was using the herb for medicinal reasons. As paying customers, we have every right to a refund and yet this woman initially denied me one, claiming that they "didn't do" refunds. To make matters worse, she took my card to the back of the restaurant instead of returning it to me, which I did not appreciate at all, as I have no way of knowing whether she took a quick snapshot or not. Magically, she could suddenly do refunds when I threatened to call police. She also mentioned that she would make up some fabrication to the police and accuse us of trespassing when, in actuality, we were simply trying to order. As far as the cancer claim, due to her willingness to lie about not being able to give me a refund and about us "trespassing", I am not fully convinced that this woman is not just another pothead lying to justify her addiction. What really sets Joe Patties apart is the quality. Nothing compares to the freshness of their fish and seafood. If you feel like you're paying a little more, just know that when you cook it properly at home, the quality more than justifies the price. One tip: if you're getting steamed shrimp, skip the pre-steamed option. Go to the counter, pick out the shrimp you want, and have them steam it fresh for you. Definitely grab one of their tubs of garlic butter and herbs and have them add half or the full amount depending on how much you're getting. I got the Argentine shrimp, about a pound and a half, and had them use half the butter. No one in my group expected it to be as good as it was. I set the plate down and it was gone in less than five minutes. I was lucky to even get three pieces for myself. We also purchased a whole grouper and had them fillet it for us. We seasoned it with their Everglades rub, and I have to admit it was probably the best grouper I've ever had in my life. The freshness makes all the difference. We grill often and have made grouper before, but it's usually been frozen, and it never comes out anywhere near this good.
