I was really shocked at the flavor. Lattes are on point and I enjoyed my chorizo omelette although I'll probably try the veggie omelette next time. We really enjoy Polonza. Good vibe inside with exposed brick. It can get busy and a little loud but sitting on the sidewalk is pleasant too. We had excellent service recently. Went to Polonzo bistro on a Sunday morning around 11. We walked there from downtown. It was about a 20 minute walk. The restaurant was very busy and the hostess seemed confused and a little bothered about taking our name and number for the waitlist. After being told it would be about a 40 minute wait, we found seats at the bar. The bartender was also slammed, understandably and cleared the dirty plates from the previous diners so that we could sit down. He was friendly enough. It seemed like two bartenders were working but it was a bit of a struggle to get water, coffee, and drinks. Either way, overall, the food and drinks were good. The ambience was nice. Great brunch choices. The restaurant has a nice ambience that cleans an older building. Taste updated funding some of the original brick wall with stained wood columns, ceiling and paneling. Toad-in-the-Hole is my favorite two slices of whole green toast and fried egg in the middle, greens and avocado slices. read more

The food its self wasn't bad,it could use more seasoning and was inherently salty. But the service and menu were mostly the problem. My wife is VERY allergic to nuts and when she received her food and it had nuts on it she was told by the waiter "it says on the menu that they're nuts but we can get you a new one" my wife took it upon herself to get a menu and check and they're were no nuts mentioned upon the menu. I didn't appreciate the waiter blaming my wife when both of our dishes came with nuts but nuts weren't mentioned on the menu. Otherwise the environment was very loud but very nice. I ordered the scrambled eggs, bacon (well-done!), home fries, and toast. I accidentally received a biscuit instead of toast, but the food was so good that it didn't even matter. My food came out within five minutes of me ordering, my water was never empty, and the tables were spaced out far enough that I didn't feel like I was on top of anyone else. A pleasantly cozy brunch spot, good for smaller groups. We visited on Mother's Day and the efficiency of our server Thomas was admirable. My "Toad in the Hole" (fried egg on sourdough with arugula) might've been messy to eat, but it was very savory and my partner loved his sunrise burger- commenting on the quality of the croissant. The fries were FRESH. Thomas had an eagle eye on our water cup levels, we were impressed he noticed with how many guests he was attending to. The noise level is something to be wary of if dining with hearing-aid wearing loved ones; I overheard a couple saying it was very hard to hear with all the bustling. A week day might be better. The warmly lit restroom was surprisingly clean even with the rush. Sitting near the entrance on a busy day can be overwhelming as guests are constantly in line to wait, peering down at you finishing your latte. I would also recommend asking for a honey or lavender flavor if you order the latte, I found it quite plain. I've been going to Polanza for over a couple years. I really enjoy the food here and the menu is not too large so decision making is not over complicated. I can honestly say that I've yet to have a bad meal. They also do a very good brunch on Sundays if you can get into the building. It can get crowded. The servers are very friendly and knowledgeable about the food and are honest about what they do or don't recommend based on your ask. The only drawback is that, although well decorated and quaint, the place is on the small end. I would also say that more attention can be paid to the restrooms at times as well. I want to start off by saying that the food here and vibes were incredible. Initially I was pretty frustrated with the wait time. The restaurant was packed and the wait time was super long. We were told it would just be a "couple minutes" before we could be seated, but 45 minutes went by before we were able to actually be seated. My fiance and I walked around for 45 minutes waiting to called about the table, and then we decided to go back to the restaurant to see if it was ready and it was. Had we known it was a 45 min wait, we probably would have gone somewhere else. I was disappointed with our server, she seemed pretty miserable that day. I was always try to be kind to staff because I know the job is physically taxing, but she wouldn't even look me in the eye. It definitely bothered me being in a predominantly white area with a white server who I felt like wouldn't give me the time of day. I was already feeling self conscious being there. The food was great, but the service left me disappointed. I came in around 11 AM with my two young kids and asked to sit at a high-top table in the corner to be out of the way. The hostess just said, "No, sorry," with no explanation. If I had been told the table was reserved or unavailable for a specific reason, I would've completely understood. As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry, I get that certain tables are sometimes held for specific purposes. But the lack of communication made the interaction feel dismissive. Our first morning in Pensacola, we decided to take a walk downtown and happen to come across this bistro. Bistro is definitely my first choice for brunch. It was a Thursday morning so the place was pretty empty. We decided to sit at the bar which did have plenty of open seating. I did appreciate that they had a specials menu and I ordered the chocolate pistachio coffee. it was pretty good and I was lucky enough to order the last one. My girlfriend and I decided to share the croissant breakfast sandwich with a side of cheesy grits. We both weren't happy with our croissant because it seen that it was cooked in a pan of grease. There was no way either one of us was able to pick up this greasy croissant. That meal was eaten with a fork and a knife. The cheesy grits were delicious and always happy when they're not made too watery, but just the right consistency. We did plan to come back here and try a different menu since there was so many other options that we were probably better off trying, but we never ended up making it back. Overall the service and atmosphere was amazing and I do highly recommend coming here since it did get pretty busy over the weekend. We just had a menu item that we just weren't satisfied with, but we would definitely come back in the future. read more
