Just dropped in on a routine Saturday night for 1 cocktail and ended up having many lolol They had a DJ in playing which was cool and kept the vibes right for the night (although I think the volume could have been a bit lower as I felt like I had to yell to talk or do the awkward lean in to hear). Bartenders were cool. Nick was our fave though for sure. He made some mean cocktails. Solid liquor selection plus a list of cocktails to choose from. I initially ordered the something and picante (can't remember the full name) and found it to be way too sweet. Then switched to a basic Lalo with soda and lime to cleanse my palette. After tried their version of an espresso martini which was quite good but made with nitro brew and kahlua so a bit on the sweeter side. I ended the night with my fave drink though which was a Hugo spritz and it was perfectly balanced. Definitely will be going back, especially for the love band Sundays. Tonight was my third time at The Cordova Bar and each time I visited, I've been impressed with how nice it is in there. Their outdoor patio space is really lovely with fire pits and couch seating and lots of succulent plants. The interior is small, but it was really decked out for Christmas. They had live music which I thoroughly was enjoying. Tonight they put on a Christmas pop-up market. Fun little event that brought me in to check out local artisans. It featured a hot cocoa bar and they had festive holiday cocktails. They even had the TVs with cute little snowy scenes that looked like you were looking out the window into a winter storm. It was packed inside but they have plenty of outdoor space. Second time was during Wednesday night bingo. Grab a seat inside and join the fun. There were about 10 of us and some people had great luck. We did not so I don't know what the prize at the bar was. Their decorations for the holidays are cute and the server was so kind. The vibes you want to keep coming back to. They have a lot of outdoor seating with a few fire pits as their indoor seats can fill up. Parking is in the neighborhood which means a short little walk to this bar. But it's not difficult to find a spot. Happy hour is amazing. $10 vodka or gin martinis and $5 beers, wells, and wines. What a hidden gem, I understand it has been there for a while, but we just recently discovered it. Friendly service, comfortable seating, a fireplace in the patio, and good quality drinks. This is our new place to go for a drink, it has the feel of the local favorite, no frills bar. We have been only been there a couple of times, with friends. The drinks selected were Old Fashioned, Vodka Tonic, beer and wine, everybody was pleased with quality and promptness of service. We will be back, thank you. read more

Nice spot to grab a cocktail in Morena. HH 4-8 offers $5 beers and discounted wells. We were the only ones there around 6:30 on a Tues evening, so a bit of a bummer to not have any crowd ambiance but bartender was still really friendly and prepared some delicious pours. As a cocktail gal, I tried the Velvet Dragon which was an excellent tart and sweet concoction featuring passionfruit and coconut rum. I also requested the Peanut Butter Cup, which is only on the Fri martini menu, but the bartender was kind enough to serve it anyway. This is one of those unassuming spots that is a great hangout. Outside this looks like this tiny bar, inside it's a really nice wide open space with a large bar. Inside it's massive. Bartenders are super competent and very nice to everyone. Clean inside, plenty of seating. Parking....well it's San Diego so it's tough but manageable. A nice little cocktail bar in Morena; I've come here a few times now and have always had a good experience, and will recommend a visit to friends looking for a chill bar to hang out with not too much noise and fuss. Ambience-wise: Cordova has the indoor bar area and an outdoor lounge/patio area out front. It's almost like some of the businesses we have around SD that was probably a local home before and then redone into a bar. In my opinion, it gives it a very homey feel outside especially if the weather is right. Inside, they keep the lighting dimmer but not to any point where you can't see where you're going. The decor is nice and nothing super flashy or trendy. They sometimes have DJs spinning records, or artists that come to perform music; and I believe there are other similar things going on everyday. It can fill up here, but I haven't seen it get packed or become too much where you can barely hear others right in front talking, so it definitely maintains a more relaxed vibe. Drink/food-wise: I haven't tried it myself or know what is served, but they do have food that they serve in the outdoor area. Cordova has a good list of cocktails that they serve. I've tried the White Russian, the Cordova Paloma, and the bartender's choice (forgot what they call it). Each one was well made, and I especially enjoyed the Bartender's Choice. Bartender asked what my vibe was and he was able to make a New York Sour, which is similar to a whiskey sour but with red wine. I've driven past the Cordova Bar so many times over the last decade, but somehow it took me until now to come in. This bar is way nicer than I thought it'd be. For some reason, I was imagining a total dive, but this place has a beautiful outdoor patio with comfortable lounge furniture and fireplaces. The inside also has couches and comfy seating as well! Each night, they have a variety of drink specials. Friday is martini night for $12. The martinis seemed pretty comparably priced with their other drinks (between $12-15). I enjoyed a key lime pie martini, which was super fun- not something I'd usually order, but a fun treat! They also had a pop up food vendor there. They served egg rolls for $8 each. This place is the cutest! The whole vibe of the bar and inside lounge is intensely vintage and curated in such a great way that could potentially open the space for a pin-up-esque type photoshoot. This place was Highly recommended but we were sorely disappointed. Heard there were great female bartenders making unique drinks, but last Saturday night there 3 male bartenders only paying attention to the women there for a bridal party. Nick and the other bartenders were pounding shots with the girls and ignoring patrons sitting at the bar raising hands for drink orders only to be ignored. Half the drinks they made for us were the wrong ingredients, and they acted offended when corrected about wrong drink. The topper was when I asked for our check, the skinny bearded guy said you owe me $85 bucks. I asked to see the receipt for just exactly what I'm paying for and he said they were out of receipt tape and couldn't provide print out of itemized drinks. Thought it was a little excessive but paid it anyway and expressed my displeasure with how our experience was. I don't necessarily blame the employees, this is a management issue allowing untrained employees using the bar as a playground and giving away company profits. Inspect what you expect. To premise, this was the second time I've been to The Cordova Bar. First time was chefs kiss, great night probs 4-5 months ago. There were two lively blonde female bartenders that were sweet, kind, and attentive. Bar wasn't too busy and we had a fabulous time, me + my 2 girlfriends. Tonight I went with a group of 5 arriving around 730pm. Very different experience. We got ID'd at the door and then proceeded to the bar to order drinks. At the bar, a male bartender took my order, and then took my friend and her boyfriend's orders. He asked my friend and her bf for ID but not me. We are all in our 30s... it definitely felt intentional that he didn't check mine. They mentioned how they had just gotten their ID checked by the bouncer, and he still proceeded to check their IDs. After checking my friends ID and still holding her ID in his hands, he asked her if she was older than 21. She said yes. We paused, expecting him to make a quirky joke or funny comment but he just handed her back the ID. Then the bartender examined her bf's Id for over 5 minutes. We were waiting and waiting for it to be returned and finally he did ...Strange interaction, but he stated he was just examining the new Cali ID for all the changes. Moving on... I ordered an espresso martini which was brought to our table by my friend. It was garnished with a Reece's peanut butter cup. Atypical garnish for a martini... Also, I'm allergic to peanut butter. Removed it and tasted the drink... the martini tasted like vanilla syrup with a hint of espresso, pretty bad. My friend had the daquiri off of the menu, it tasted like sour mix and vodka. The male bartender did not ask her if she wanted rum or mezcal which were in the description of how it's made sooo not sure what we got. Later on, my other friend ordered a beer and it sat half poured by the spout for about ten mins. Needless to say, it was a very uncomfortable and odd interaction with the bartender and not their best night when it came to drinks and service. We would love to know when he's not working in order to return to the bar with great drinks and customer service as I first experienced here. read more

Cordova was the afterparty that I went to after a wedding I attended. This spot has a cute patio with a cool fireplace outside and a nice space inside as well. My husband and I both tried the spicy passion fruit daiquiri (mine was a mocktail). It had Mezcal, pineapple passionfruit syrup, lime, and firewater bitters. I loved the combination of fruity and spicy flavors in this drink. Other friends tried the Seasalt Caramel Coffee with White Russian, the Naked & Famous, and I believe the Velvet Dragon. All of the drinks were so pretty and I loved the taste of mine. It was very refreshing! There was no food available, but some complimentary pretzels were available. Been coming averaging about one Sunday a month since February. I I don't like sweet in my drinks, unless it is just a hint of it, and thus I typically order a whiskey neat (as I am frequently disappointed when I order a specialty cocktail somewhere). They have a great whiskey selection at Cordova, but after seeing so many specialty cocktails go around I finally decided to try one after about 6 visits there. It was so enjoyable that I have decided to start going through their menu to see if there were others that looked good. So far I've had their: - Award Winning Old Fashion - Chad's Whiskey Sour - One Night Before The Flight They have all been perfectly balanced, and they all get a thumbs up from me. I've never had a whiskey sour before, and it was one of the most unique cocktails I've ever had. I look forward to trying a bunch more in our future visits. Must visit this awesome bar! Very romantic bar with a vintage palm springs style vibe. The owner is extremely friendly and welcoming and was bartending the Monday night we visited. We tried to stop in on a Sunday night but they closed early due to lack of crowd. So Monday we arrived around 10 and he was very excited to have us and made us feel welcomed and like we were regulars. Loved the vibe and the fun drink menu. I'm not a drinker but my gf is and she tried Bayhoo and she was overly impressed and I tried the sea salt caramel white russian. And as an avid coffee addict I loved it. We bought a t shirt and he made us a couple espresso vodka shots with whip cream and some other sweet stuff. And it was super cool he did that which wasn't expected either.
