This biergarten is awesome. As soon as you walk in, there's a food truck immediately to your left serving wood-fired pizzas that are absolutely phenomenal. They also offer a great happy hour special Tuesday through Friday with $5 off pizzas. I don't remember the exact hours, so you'll want to check those before visiting. One of the things I love most about this place is the variety. There are three different brewery stations throughout the venue. I got a flight from the back room, where they serve mead, which is tough to find around San Diego. I ordered a flight, which came with six selections, and every single one was excellent. The staff here are fantastic. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, and one of the chefs even came out to give the pups some pepperoni, which was a nice touch that definitely stood out. The space itself is huge with plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating. It's a great place for groups to gather, relax, and enjoy a few drinks without feeling cramped. Overall, this is a fun and unique spot with great food, excellent drinks, and outstanding service. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back. read more

This is a great space! Love meeting friends here - locals and tourists are always pleasantly surprised by this literal 'hidden' gem tucked in the middle of an industrial area (parking may take a bit to find). The main food available is from Pizza Cassette, which has delicious sandwiches and wood-fired, Neapolitan-style pizza pies. Drinks are available from a brewery, a trendy and unique wine spot, and a meadery! Truly something for everyone. It's dog friendly and great for groups to still feel intimate with standing areas, barrel table tops and picnic style tables. There's usually always something happening like trivia night or live music, but heads up, they don't stay open too late - won't be an issue for most, but in case you're looking for a spot at 8pm, double check the hours, especially for food. read more

The Gartën contains 4 businesses: Lost Cause Meadery- world wide award winning mead from traditional to more experimental Oddish Winery-- by the same minds of Lost Cause, fun funky wines Deft Brewery-- from European style beers to classic Cali IPAs deft will have something for everyone, beer wise Pizza Cassette- one of my favorite spots for pizza, with amazing gluten free crust as well as vegan cheese so definitely something for everyone. Weekly specials for their pizza too so stop by often. I love the staff at all of the establishments, I can tell they enjoy working here and believe in their products. My only "complaint" has nothing to do with the businesses but rather the parents who can't control their kids. Please please please keep an eye on your kids. It's not the job of the people working here to keep your kids safe. Please rein them in so they aren't trying to go into the "behind the scenes" area with all the equipment and machines are. At the end of the day this is a place as alcohol-centric, so it also makes me wonder why on earth you're bringing your kids here to begin with but c'est la vie.... Great location and a good variety of food and beverage options. Whether you like beer, wine, or wine cocktails like spritzers the Garten has you covered! We have been a few times and we're able to grab some adult beverages, pizza, sandwiches and snacks while catching some fabulous live tunes. There is a lot of seating, some shaded, some in the sun. The staff in all the locations within the Garten are great , always smiling when we've seen them. The Garten overall is a great venue! While there could be improvements, it's great for what it is. The neighborhood it's in could use more parking, but keep in mind it's in an industrial area, so parking is already tight as it is. There is a big lot at the end of the street- which fills up quickly- and several spots around the venue. Just be patient, a spot will open up eventually. Their set-up is cool, pizza truck is parked right in front & is the only food option [for now]. There's plenty of tables around the venue while several drink places surround the entire space. Love that they have bands playing. It is an all ages venue so you'll get a variation of people. The vibes are good if you don't let minor inconveniences get to ya. Let me start off by saying I always enjoy a brewery that offers flights and isn't strict on sharing between customers. My friend and I split a mead flight and it was quite fun seeing what we both enjoyed. We were both quite giggly by the end as the percentage of these are no joke! My friend and I came on a Thursday and it was open mic night. It was cool seeing other people perform their heart's songs/poems in a casual, low pressure environment. We both got pizza which we enjoyed as well and had a good conversation with the staff. Totally unsuspecting location but really great little beer garden! We came on a Thursday during trivia night and it was packed! Chill vibes, loved having a couple different drink options (wine/beer/mead), and tasty wood fired pizza. The meadery featured here is apparently quite famous. The Garten's outdoor concept is keeping it in business; not the quality of any of the food/drink options or the staff's personalities. We gave this place a handful of visits and it simply disappoints. Each business within the Garten takes it a little too extreme so it's likely not a good fit for your whole group. It's a good place to go if you want to hear parents yelling at their kids. But it's not for anyone claustrophobic or on crutches. I'd never bring a dog here unless he was deaf and fit inside a purse. Pizza: Floppy, thin charred half-cooked dough with wet, barely toasted toppings that slide off. Hastily sliced into irregular pieces. The mushroom pizza has more salami than anything else. The rude chef with the chin beard didn't help. Beer: The UK-style brewer needs to visit the UK again. We've tried our way through their menu and it's all sad. Many real UK beers are tasty but these miss the mark. Cider, mead and wine weren't all that impressive. read more

We've been wanting to try this place for some time now. The patio is sprinkled with beautiful olive trees and other greenery - hops, etc. Fun fact: you can "adopt a hop." There are a few drink places to choose from- Lost Cause Meadery, Oddish wines, and Deft brewery. The food place is called Pizza Cassette and has delicious pizzas including a vegan selection. We had The Queen, Rossi No cheese (vegan) and The Sting pizzas. I stopped by Oddish for their Red blend and my husband had The Red IPA at Deft. The server at Oddish was so lovely and we had a great conversation about the wines. Love that the bottles read "unfiltered and unfined, it's OK, relax!" I've tried the beer, mead, and pizza and it's all amazing! The sparkling meads were my favorite as they were very light and refreshing. Not all of the businesses are open 7-days a week but the brewery is. So check online! They also have live music and trivia some nights. It is dog friendly, full of sunny picnic tables, perfect to relax and play a game of dominoes or chat with friends. I was most impressed by the Lost Cause Meadery which is kind of hidden in the back right corner but boasts a stunning indoor space and its own kind of secret patio. All dog friendly!! read more

I like that it offers shaded, semi shaded, and full sun areas: something for everyone. The garden is well lite for nightlife and well offering live music and other forms of entertainment. The Gärten opens at noon. I really like this little German inspired beer garden. There's no private parking lot for now, so one will have to rely on street parking. read more

Was craving pizza outdoors with drinks. The Garten fits the description to a tee. They've really transformed this space into a fun outdoor beergarten. It's small, but they've managed to fit a large number of picnic tables that are nicely spread out and comfortable. There are four vendors in the area serving up pizza, beer, mead and wine! My husband and I love this place for a midweek cheap date. Pizza & mead!!! I mean really? The best part is the pizza inside by Pizza Cassette. They have Gluten Free !!! It is the best! They make their dough from scratch to order. They also have vegan cheese. While I get my GF, DF prosciutto & arugula pizza ... my husband gets their pastrami sandwich that is Huge!! Which is also handmade fresh bread. He can never eat all of it, and my husband eats a lot, he's always hungry (but not here). The main patio is too loud for us when they have music or game night so we go into the mead bar and enjoy a yummy flight or two of the monthly mead assortment with our pizza. They have a small wood fired oven outside. The pizza was delicious and perfectly crispy. It is a very thin crust pizza though, but I don't mind that. They had live music when we went on a Friday night and the ambiance was super cute. It was pretty packed. They also have beer on tap and the beer was also good!
