We were concerned about it, worried about any longterm effects it may create to our home and our health, and so decided to look for a company to remove the white substance build up, treat the the whole area, and apply protective barrier to prevent the moisture. After getting an estimate from another company, we decided to go with Bordi Restoration. The work included: scraping the top soil, spray a disinfectant onto the soil, used a HEPA air scrubber, and then fitted a crawlspace moisture barrier. They just completed the work today. The work was estimated for three days, but they finished in two days instead. Everything was done nicely, with the moisture barrier fitted neatly, really clean install. The workers were friendly and respectful of our property. Communication with Craig (owner) was easy, as he responded quickly to our text messages, explained things very well, his responses being detailed, but also easy to understand. It was also easy to communicate with Donovan, the staff member who handled the scheduling and billing, as he was very easy to work with, and very helpful. The value was very good, as the estimated cost was cheaper than the other company, and the work they did came out very nicely. Craig had came out to take a look at our closet…read morewhich developed surface mold due to moisture and lack of air circulation in the corner and helped us understand if there's other sources of water/moisture/leaks we need to be worried of. We got a quote which was very competitive and reasonable and moved forward to setting a date for the crew to clean and do a deeper assessment. We had accidentally forgotten that we agreed for the work to start on a Thurs instead of Friday, and the office called right away to clarify and sent the team out very quickly after we sent them away. The cleaning crew themselves were great! Shu, the forewoman, was on top of it, communicated the problem and solution in a very straightforward and simple manner. Was very thorough with pictures, instructions, and her assessment. Craig identified that we may need a moisture barrier in the crawlspace to really help decrease the amount of moisture impacting the walls during the rainy season. Another quote for the closet and bathroom clean-up was sent to us, which had not changed in terms of pricing. We knew that the 2nd project would require a new quote later. After 3 days of drying, we contacted Craig to coordinate time for pick up of the equipment. We also received the finalized invoice- the cost ended up being nearly 2x the original quote, which caught us off-guard. Craig explained that the labor hours had to increased from an estimated of 4 hrs to 12 hrs and covered for travel (though we only live about 2.5 mi away from his listed office) and equipment loading time, which surprised us as it was never mentioned or called out. There was already a $100 service/trip charge, so for additional hrs counted for travel felt unreasonable. The crew was on-site for 5 hours max. He did give us a discount which was appreciated, but we felt that the quotes and pricing model were not transparent. This really disappointed us, especially given the quality of service and how easy it was to work with Craig initially. We had a 2nd project to encapsulate the crawlspace which we went with another company whose pricing ended up exactly as estimated, despite taking a 1.5 days more than anticipated.

After my insurance company caused complications that led to First Call terminating the job which I understood, I received an invoice in May of last year. I paid that balance in full with two separate checks within two weeks. I have the receipts, the copies of the checks, and the bank statements showing exactly when First Call cashed them. After a full year of zero communication, I woke up today to a voicemail and email threatening to send me to collections within 48 hours. They claimed they had been "trying to reach me" for 12 months, which is untrue. I checked my call logs and my email history; there was absolutely nothing. When I called and provided my proof of payment and the exact dates they cashed my checks, they admitted the "error" was simply because someone forgot to check a box in their system. It is incredibly stressful and offensive to have your credit threatened because a company can't be bothered to check their own bank deposits before sending out threats. As a veteran, I live by a standard of integrity and doing your due diligence. Relying on a "checked box" as the Bible instead of doing actual research is lazy and unprofessional. Do better, not just for your customers, but for the reputation of the guys out there doing the actual work.

I think details are really important and MG: - Did not cut into our ceiling, which another company planned to do. This would have cost me more for drywall repair and painting. - There was a minor detail at the end that they addressed after the walk through. I obtained 4 quotes for this project: - MG: $3280 - Company with 5 stars recommended by HVAC company we hired: $5500 (site visited) - Company with 3.5 stars recommended by another HVAC company: $3400-3600 (received video from HVAC company) - Company with 5 stars I found on Yelp: around $3000 (verbal quote, no site visit, 1.5 months out for scheduling) So MG is on the same ballpark as most companies, but had better customer reviews and got the job done more quickly. Easy decision to hire them and I am glad I did!

I hired MG Remediation to perform an asbestos abatement on my HVAC system last month and…read moreunfortunately would not recommend their services. Long story short - they violated containment protocols, caused significant damage to my walls, and didn't even dispose of all the asbestos. Read further if you would like more details... Initially, everything seemed great. They were quick to visit the home and provide an estimate. The project manager Dennys, who came for the estimate, was polite, professional, and seemed knowledgeable. We were able to schedule the work shortly after the initial visit. The work was to be performed on a Thursday and Friday, but they called Thursday afternoon to let us know that they would actually be finished that evening. Unfortunately, we weren't able to schedule a Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) to do the post-abatement air testing until Monday. When removing asbestos, it's required to put up a tented negative pressure containment zone and run a HEPA filter to minimize the risk of the airborne asbestos particles spreading. Initially, Dennys told us he couldn't leave the HEPA filter running in our home over the weekend. We were concerned about this, so we contacted the CAC for advice. The CAC informed us that maintaining the negative pressure zone with the filter running was a requirement and that the test wouldn't be valid if the HEPA filter wasn't left on until the test results came back. Dennys eventually agreed to leave it on. I don't believe the project manager was present for the majority of the work, and the team that was left behind did a sloppy job. The CAC pointed out several areas in which MG cut corners with regulations regarding asbestos removal and containment. Between Thursday and Friday, the containment zone wasn't zipped shut. Without a proper seal, the negative pressure zone is ineffective. They were supposed to tape over our vents with plastic wrap for the containment, but on some vents they only used tape with no plastic. The CAC said this is not an adequate seal. The asbestos waste was left in our unsecured backyard, outside of the containment zone overnight Thursday until they had someone come pick it up Friday. The CAC said this was against regulations. The CAC also noted a boot left in the house that still contained a material suspicious for asbestos. And then there's the damage to our home. As they were removing hvac ducts from the ceiling, we of course gave them permission to cut holes in the ceiling. But they caused far more damage than necessary. There is a giant hole cut in an unnecessary part of the ceiling where there wasn't even a duct to be removed. Also, when they removed the plastic tents they put up for the containment zones, they ripped off paint and drywall in SEVERAL locations. Please see pictures. We also discovered they left behind an entire container of asbestos paper in our home! For some reason it was removed from the hvac closet and left in the garage (an area that wasn't even part of the containment zone). Now we have to dispose of it, exposing ourselves to potential harm. We found dirty rags they left in our backyard. We're not sure if they're contaminated, but we had to dispose of those as well. With asbestos abatement, the State requires a Hazardous Waste Manifest to be filled out to ensure the waste was properly handled and disposed of. MG required us to sign this form, but did not leave us with a copy. The producer of the waste is supposed to keep this form for their records. We have requested a copy multiple times and still have not received it. After we expressed our dissatisfaction with their services, they only offered us $150 off our more than $3500 project. We do not believe this is enough to cover the damage to our home or make up for the additional asbestos removal we have to do ourselves, but we accepted it because we just wanted to be done with this company.
