    A rainbow on a plate...Lunch Fajitas
    Rebecca K.

Full disclosure...I've never had Mexican food on Cinco de Mayo. Today I decided to change all that. We drove around and landed at Compadres Grill. It was hidden in a corner of a strip mall and walking in it was welcoming if not a little stereotypical. The music was a little loud but it was quiet enough for conversation across the table but loud enough not to hear other tables. Now...on to the food. When a Mexican restaurant puts thought and effort into the freebie tortilla chips and salsa, it's a great sign that the mains will be phenomenal...and they were! The Lunch Fajitas were nothing short of magical. The steak was a bit chewy but the flavor was on point. The refried beans were epic on their own and even the rice was loaded with flavor as individual component parts. Put together with the lettuce, pico de Gallo and sour cream and the heavens split open and godrays shown down...yeah it was THAT amazing. My partner tried the Chori-Pollo and though it's not much of a looker (I had no idea there were that many shades of brown) he said is was stellar. We were well taken care of by our server and the prices were so reasonable. This may be a new favorite...nope...it IS a new favorite!

Great food fast friendly service. Love the rice and the warm tortilla chips. We ordered fresh corn dip. The corn that was used in the dip was right off the cob. Highly recommend this place.

Omg! After a terrible experience for taco Tuesday at another venue. I found this gem on Yelp, when you walk in youre immediately greeted with smiling faces. I sat down and listened to some uptempo machaca and salsa music. The waitress was super sweet and I told her "Yo soy estudiante de español" she smiled and said "bien, Espero que vaya bien", I had to look up what she said Really great spot Food was phenomenal and filling Totally will be back

Veggie enchilada plate - 2 cheese, 2 spinach and 2 mushroom, plus chips, salsa and guac

Had dinner on our way across the country. Standard Mexican fare, good service, typical hacienda-style decor, and good prices. Food portions are also generous. We had their chips and salsa plus a side of guac - chips seemed fresh made and were awesome - plus a good amount for two people. The salsa was very good, thin with tomato chunks and fresh cilantro, not spicy, but flavorful, and also a good amount. Guac was very fresh with an oniony flavor, but no discernible spice or real depth. But nice because of the freshness. For dinner, my sister and I split the veggie enchilada plate which came with 2 cheese enchiladas, 2 spinach enchiladas and 2 mushroom enchiladas, plus salad, pico, sour cream and yellow rice. Surprisingly there were no beans in the enchiladas or on the side plate. The enchiladas were made with wheat tortillas and were overwhelmingly cheesy. So rich it was almost too much. The portion size was huge and we were both totally stuffed. I could not imagine eating all 6 enchiladas plus the sides if I was alone! Total bill with tax and tip $18 and change. Great value, and I would recommend, though this is not what I would call 'real Mexican' or 'authentic'.

I stopped in Compadres for a quick dinner before going to a concert at Rocksino. There is really not much else in that area as far as good food is concerned, and Mexican is usually a safe bet for a decent meal. So we tried it. It was definitely a quick meal. Our food was brought out in about 5 minutes which was nice especially since we were in a hurry to begin with. It was just two of us, and we ordered burrito dishes. The chips and salsa brought to the table was ok. I would say that was probably the disappointing part of the meal was the salsa. It had that dishwater taste and wasnt spicy at all. The chips were typical chips. The entrees were quite large, I ended up taking more than half of my plate home. The waiter was very nice as well as the ladies who greeted us at the door. I have no complaints about the service. The place also seemed neat and clean. The food was just very ordinary and nothing to write home about.

Chicken fajitas are good! BUT, prices are way too expensive & slow service compared to other authentic Mexican restaurants.

We discovered Amigos a couple years ago, when seating was very limited, but they recently expanded and the decor is more inviting and authentic. We've tried a lot of things on this menu and have never been disappointed. Our food has always been fresh and plentiful, served with a smile. Two things I can ecstatically recommend: their house guacamole and their margaritas. Their hearty and bold guacamole is made fresh to order right at your table and it's become our favorite guacamole. We love their mango margaritas. We have found chunks of mango in ours, and make certain to always get the rims coated with tajin because they use tamarind to get the spice to stick to the rim--so tasty! This is a really enjoyable restaurant we always look forward to visiting!

The chicken tacito appetizer was just okay, but they will make fresh made guac at your table while you watch. That quac was superb. We made it disappear quickly with nachos. The barria tacos were excellent and the sauce they make for them is delectable. The cole slaw was different and delicious. Wasn't expecting that. The torta was superb. Great food, great service. We'll be back!

The ambiance was relaxing and we got the nice cozy booth at end of the bar ordered the Taco's with a side of rice and beans and a few margaritas. The food was delicious and we had a damn good time, but what really impressed us was the incredible service. Our server Dan was literally amazing, highly attentive and made us feel at home. I don't think I have ever had better service in my life. After that experience we said we had to come back again. So, we did. We came back to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday on a Friday. To our surprise the place was packed and busy. Since they don't do reservations we knew for sure we wouldn't get our cozy booth and the service would be no where near as good as it was last time. I was pleasantly surprised. As we enter the packed restaurant, a man came up to us with such a positive and friendly attitude and told us about the wait time and that he would add us to the list. While we waited we ordered margaritas and talked further with the man. This man turned out to be the Owner of Momocho, Eric. This guy is one of the coolest dudes you'll ever meet. He gave us a few of his delicious recipes he created, told us about his restaurant, and remarked on how great his incredible staff is, especially Dan. After the wait, Eric escorted us to the top floor, and to our surprise he put us at the "Chef's table". We had front row seats to watching the Amazing Chef's cook. Chef Manny was fantastic, watching him work, talking with him, and answering our questions about the different dishes made are experience that much more enjoyable. He took our orders: "Little Tacos" we got the Pollo, Machaca, Side of rice, Barbacoa with a fried egg and a flight of Margaritas. Everything was insanely good. The Margaritas are very tasty definitely recommend. At the end of our meal Dan personally delivered my girlfriend one of their delicious "Chocobomba" desserts with a candle in it, and Sang happy birthday with me. Overall this place is a 10 out of 10. I highly recommend it. I want to sincerely thank Eric, Dan, and Manny for the incredible experience, and for making my girl friend's birthday a memorable and special one. Also wanted to toss in here that it was fantastic seeing one of my favorite servers from the now closed restaurant "Xinji" working on the Momocho team. Shout out to Jack.
