This place does not miss. It is now one of my favorite restaurants to go to. My girlfriend and I came in on a slow Wednesday afternoon. The ambiance was relaxing and we got the nice cozy booth at end of the bar ordered the Taco's with a side of rice and beans and a few margaritas. The food was delicious and we had a damn good time, but what really impressed us was the incredible service. Our server Dan was literally amazing, highly attentive and made us feel at home. I don't think I have ever had better service in my life. After that experience we said we had to come back again. So, we did. We came back to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday on a Friday. To our surprise the place was packed and busy. Since they don't do reservations we knew for sure we wouldn't get our cozy booth and the service would be no where near as good as it was last time. I was pleasantly surprised. As we enter the packed restaurant, a man came up to us with such a positive and friendly attitude and told us about the wait time and that he would add us to the list. While we waited we ordered margaritas and talked further with the man. This man turned out to be the Owner of Momocho, Eric. This guy is one of the coolest dudes you'll ever meet. He gave us a few of his delicious recipes he created, told us about his restaurant, and remarked on how great his incredible staff is, especially Dan. After the wait, Eric escorted us to the top floor, and to our surprise he put us at the "Chef's table". We had front row seats to watching the Amazing Chef's cook. Chef Manny was fantastic, watching him work, talking with him, and answering our questions about the different dishes made are experience that much more enjoyable. He took our orders: "Little Tacos" we got the Pollo, Machaca, Side of rice, Barbacoa with a fried egg and a flight of Margaritas. Everything was insanely good. The Margaritas are very tasty definitely recommend. At the end of our meal Dan personally delivered my girlfriend one of their delicious "Chocobomba" desserts with a candle in it, and Sang happy birthday with me. Overall this place is a 10 out of 10. Heard good things about the Mexican food here so we decided to stop by for dinner. Luckily they have their own small parking lot so it was easy to get a spot. It was very busy and we were told there is a 30 minute wait. Not much else in the area so we hung out by the bar and got seated sooner than expected. The first floor is more casual with bar seating and high top tables. The second floor is more formal dining tables. You'll need to climb stairs (did not see an elevator). I was a bit skeptical if we'd have enough options as vegetarians, but was pleasantly surprised at how full we got from all the items we ordered! The guacamole trio, flautas, remolacha, salsa and chips, and drinks. We were there to celebrate a birthday and I asked staff (maybe a manager) if they do anything to celebrate. He mentioned they have a fried ice cream and can put a candle in it. I hadn't confirmed what dessert we planned to order, but before I knew it they came around with the fried ice cream and candle. Food was great, we all know that already but I wanna highlight something that was so impressive it could not go unpraised. I have a serious allergy to a food that is in a lot of their products (I did not know before I came). They were sooo diligent that my allergy was not overlooked. In the appetizers my allergy was taken out, they told me what salsas I could have and even modified my entree to be allergen friendly without my knowledge because it wasn't listed on the ingredients. I also wanted to praise the fact that all of the staff is epi pen trained and they have epi pens on site if needed. This was not the experience I expected to have it was above expectations and set the standard for great service. Solid Mexican spot in Cleveland with downstairs and upstairs seating. We didn't make reservations for a Monday night and were able to get seated around 6pm no problem for a party of 5. We got the guacamole trio with pineapple, crab, and smoked trout. Pineapple was my favorite, but I could barely taste the crab. The margarita flights was a great value with pretty good pours. Momocho how has an awesome patio with a great vibes. It's pretty shaded, so you don't have to worry about melting in the sun. I recently stopped in on. Monday, which was their mezcal Monday feature. They had a few mezcal cocktails and shot specials. I got a mezcalarita which was delicious. I also got some pineapple guacamole. It was pretty sweet but didn't have much flavor beyond that. My server was kind enough to bring me some bacon lardons to try to give it that salty sweet taste, but it didn't really do much. It wasn't my favorite guac, although it was really fresh. Since our first visit to Momocho, our appreciation has only grown. We've gone here for date nights as well as birthday celebrations. Each time, we receive attentive service and delicious food. On our most recent visit, my husband and I came with his parents to celebrate a birthday. We started with the salsa chiltomate which will now become a staple when we go - the depth of flavor from the charred tomatoes was outstanding. We also all split the cesar salad - another 10/10 dish. We had a variety of entrees including the butternut squash flautas, blue corn enchiladas & carne asada. Despite being stuffed, we also ordered two desserts: the chocobomba and the fried ice cream. The dessert portions are ENORMOUS, but so good that we were willing to overfill ourselves to finish them off. The fried ice cream especially was a stand out. read more

The good: The food. Oh my god, the food. I got the carne asada. My friend got the machaca taquitos. We both got margarita flights, and for chips we did the classic guacamole and roasted tomato salsa. Everything was amazing. The steak was tender, potatoes were crispy and fluffy, flavor was there on everything. Guacamole is so smooth and creamy. The bad: The service was rough. Slow, awkward pauses between courses, and we and the table next to us had to ask to put in our mains and for the check. It is a busy place but needs to be streamlined a bit for sure. Our dinner service lasted over an hour and a half. However, nothing was unforgivable and I would say the food more than made up for this. Also. Very friendly staff who were very knowledgeable about the food/drinks and provided lots of amazing recommendations. My dad was very excited to try different types of margaritas and ended up getting a combo one with Hibiscus and Pineapple and he was in love. I had their classic margarita and that was still just as good and I loved it as well! Ask for the chefs homemade habanero hot sauce!! It is incredible. Yes, I said a flight of guacamole. Try it. Trust me. My friend and I sat at the bar, which is full service. I had a flight of margaritas and chose the blood orange, hibiscus, and pomegranate. For our flight of guacamole, we tried the goat cheese, the crab, and the peppercorn. For some reason we thought we needed more food, so I ordered the chile relleno and my friend ordered the camarones tacos. Excellent, excellent food. I am going to have to return to Cleveland soon so I can come back here! If you haven't been: be aware that there is a parking lot, but it is very small and fits about 8 cars, so you may have to look for street parking. It's an immersive experience with all the eclectic artwork including photos and masks of luchadares, the masked wrestlers that trace back to the early 1900s in Mexico. In my younger years, I wrestled... and thought, "How cool would have been to wear masks and take on the persona of a mysterious wrestler like the luchadores?!" But I digress. My meal here was one of the best unexpected dinners I've ever had. I'm not an adventurous eater, so coming here and seeing this take on Mexican food was a new and fortunate experience. When it comes to Mexican food I'm used to tacos, quesadillas, and churros, but I'm glad I decided to try something more complex with added depth. For my main I had the carne asada. The sauces and seasoning were insane. The steak was perfectly cooked and the potatoes and toppings had so much flavor it made me reevaluate what I previously considered Mexican food. There was so much to it than I realized. Better that I learn that now than in 20 years. For dessert I tried the fried ice cream. I've always been curious about it, but never ordered it. It was good as well! Ice cream, crunchy cornflake exterior, coconut, whip cream, and chocolate - can't go wrong! I didn't have much interaction with the staff, but they were friendly. My waiter was knowledgeable and went over every item on the menu efficiently. It is a small place with upstairs dining available and the main floor can get really loud. Also, if you can't tell from other patrons' photos, there is a bar and the restaurant is a little dark inside at night. I can't really speak to the decor as I didn't take a particular interest in it, but I think there were a few neon lighted signs around. I'm really grateful for this experience and to try such amazing food on my first day in Cleveland. I hope the other restaurants/eateries I have lined up are up to par. read more

This has been on my list for awhile. I feel like most Mexican restaurants I've tried in town have been average. But this hole in the wall exceeded all expectations. There was street parking and parking specifically for the restaurant as well so I didn't have a hard time there. We waited a couple minutes for a table (did not have a reservation) and were then escorted to the second floor. Our waitress suggested the guacamole trio so we tried the Goat Cheese, Black Pepper Pecorino and Pineapple guac. They were AMAZING (minus the pineapple guac, but that's because I personally I don't like fruits with my guac, although, for people that do, my friend loved it). I also appreciated the refill on the chips. The waitress was very helpful and aided me in choosing the chile poblano relleno. It did not disappoint at all. It was decently sized for the price and bursting in flavor. I'm not a vegetarian, but for those that are, I HIGHLY recommend this as a dish. I've heard a lot of hype about this place for a while and I don't think it fully lives up to those expectations, but it was definitely decent for the price. I got the carnitas taquitos: the tortillas/arroz were soft and the sauces were flavorful, but the carnitas were on the chewier/drier side. One of my friends ordered the shrimp taquitos and liked those, so I'd recommend that instead. The guac was delicious and the paloma was decent for the price. Service was fantastic. Extensive drink menu for sure so there was something for everyone. My friend got the taquitos which he said was lovely and came with a lot of meat too. I got the halibut which was also very unique and delicious. The flavor profile was definitely there and I love how they incorporated a modern twist to traditional Mexican cuisine. I ordered the carnitas taquitos and the chile relleno--both were excellent, and I'd love to have them again. The taquitos were a bit unusual in that they were served as a bowl of meat with tortillas and sauce on the side, but they were delicious nonetheless. And I've never had a breaded chile relleno (like a tamale), but this also worked really well. If you like Mexican food, Momocho is a fusion restaurant worth trying. read more
