We came in for the Monday Night Football Steelers Playoff Game as we wanted Nachos, for the team! :) The Nachos did not disappoint. In fact these are my favorite Nachos of all time. They are amazing! The kitchen staff, Adam, Joe Joe, and Declan nailed them. Before the Nachos we had the new Corn Chowder and it too was fabulous. And the draft list is great for those that want a craft beer. We had Bells Hazy Hearted IPA for $7 each and they were tasty with the Nachos! And I would be remiss if I didn't mention the great service from our server Natasha! My husband and I really like the wing-o tacos at mad mex. And today we got the holiday birria burrito special which had beef birria, mashed potatoes, corn, black beans and gravy smothered over it. It was very good but we wish the ingredients were mixed together more inside the burrito. The wing-o tacos are always a great choice with boneless wings and the San Francisco sauce. I typically get a side salad instead of waffle fries with the cilantro lime vinaigrette which is amazing. Tonight I tried the birria tacos and I wasn't a fan. The taco shells were soaked in grease which maybe is how birria tacos are supposed to be but I felt it was overly greasy and also didn't have much flavor. I wouldn't order them again. The other downside is that we've had pretty bad luck with mad mex takeout. The last time I got boneless wings takeout they were very small (not worth the money) and lacking sauce. Went to mad mex last night. We had a group of 9 and I was worried because the parking lot was packed. It only took about 25 minutes to get a table which is good for a group that large on a Friday night I had the fish tacos and they were re great. Most everyone else had the mad me. Burrito Good food but this is not a large restaurant so go early. read more

Came here for lunch by myself. Was sat in the bar. Two other tables were sat after me. Both of them had a drink and appetizer orders, and before I was even asked to order a drink. Got up and left. The only three tables in the restaurant. The past two times I have been here, the service seemed to be going downhill. Today, I know it wouldn't be any better. The local Mad Mex I frequent has always been the closest to my house, as I find them all to be consistent. After moving closer to the Cranberry area, this location became our newest go-to. My favorite things about the chain in general include - 1.) Regular $5 20 ounce beer specials, where there is typically a good value (unique offering, high ABV, etc) 2.) Their rotating menu - obviously the Gobblerito is a fan favorite, but their rotating tacos, burritos and occasional wing specials are always appreciated 3.) Their Holiday deals (think $40 deal for two during Valentine's Day, margarita specials outside of normal Happy Hours, tequila specials) 4.) And of course, the basics - their staple items that we tend to order the most are always steady, from salads to tacos to enchiladas (I'm not a huge burrito guy, blasphemy, I know!) It was so great to be back for lunch and visiting one of several locations that's minutes from my home. It had been too long since my last visit. I met a small group for a lunch and we were seated promptly. It was fun to see all the holiday decorations up on NYE. Our server was friendly and we put orders right away for drinks followed by our meals. I enjoyed the festive Apple cider mule which was fantastic. Another friend enjoyed the margarita. I was thrilled to see the carnitas burrito was back on the menu which I ordered as a barito with guacamole on the side. It was so good I finished the whole thing. My husband and I come here to celebrate our birthdays using the free burrito card we receive in the mail. I will often get the seasonal burrito bowl or I enjoy the Fajita Burrita bowl as another option. We often try to go during happy hour so one of us can get half price wings (and beer or margs of course). I really enjoy their BBQ flavor - they have always been saucy and crispy, with a decent amount of meat! If you are not using a coupon, gift card or are not going during happy hour l, you can rack up a nice sized bill by the end of your dinner. Happy hour makes the wings reasonable as I would not spend full price on them. The burrito prices are a little high but I can always get another meal out of it for the next day. Drinks run what most restaurants charge in the area - roughly $7-9. Our service has always been good here whether sitting at a table or at the bar. Our food comes out fast and has always been piping hot. Overall, we enjoy coming back here in the fall to celebrate our birthdays! read more

I'm giving Mad Mex three stars, the most I'm willing to give a Mexican restaurant. It's a loud, energetic, young place, characteristics I lack. Also, I'm not a fan of Mexican cuisine, so three stars is a great endorsement. The menu is more extensive than most such places, with a broad variety of taquilla drinks and beers. Tonight was the last straw. 4/5 meals were either missing a significant portion of the order, a side, or had the order wrong (we ordered no sprouts and onion, it got both and instead they left out the avocado.) both kids meals were missing sides and the brownie desert. The lime cilantro salad dressing had something gritty like sand in it so we had to throw our salad out. For $65 it is a ridiculous waste of money ordering from here anymore. I always go back and forth on whether I liked Mad Mex or not. The atmosphere here is great and is a perfect place for after work happy hour. The service has always been hit or miss for me. Some days extremely slow and at times incompetent and others are times the staff is on top of everything. Food has mostly been solid here. I do love their fall Goblorito special and actually come here for Thanksgiving Gobloritos every year with my coworkers. Some of the burritos have been Ok. Not a huge fan of the wing burrito, but really liked their wings and they have a nice deal at happy hour for them. Their portion sizes has always been very generous. I will still come back here for the Goblorito and the happy hour wings and drinks. They have a solid beer selection and the atmosphere is usually good for groups of people. read more

We've ordered takeout a few times since all of this pandemic craziness and did Gobbleritos for Thanksgiving. For the latter, I appreciated the convenient and fun option. Our takeout has been bad. I got a taco salad. Meat and peppers packed with the lettuce, so I received inedible taco salad soup. I worked here. I've eaten here 1k times. I've packed a ton of to go orders. Protein and hot stuff is packed separately from the lettuce. The next order I tried a cauliflower bowl that came without cauliflower. I also got no guacamole which was a bummer for me. It was pretty flavorless. My husband ordered an insane southwest burrito, so I mostly ate some of his. I ordered southwest mild boneless for my son (figuring is share the cauliflower bowl as well), and they were insane, so I didn't give this to him. I also ordered a special taco a while back that had good flavor but the tacos were sitting in a plate full of liquid which was kind of gross. I suppose rousing did costs and lack of a good employee pool is bringing everything down. The quality is not anywhere near what it was. Not even close. Blue cheese dressing and insane southwest sauce will always bring us back a few times a year, but it's really fantastic blue cheese dressing, and I used to eat there constantly. But we had to repeat our selves a couple of times for clarification and he forgot a few things, along with not checking on us throughout our meal. Our waitress was honest in her responses as I was asking about margaritas and ciders being sweet or dry. I ended up getting a few different kinds of margaritas on the rocks with salt. Different fruit flavors that did not make it acridly sweet. Still tart and tequila spiritus. She also steered me in the right direction for the entree. Definitely one of the better Mexican chain restaurants in the area from quantities and variety of food and beverages and tasting pretty good. After recently trying another chain Mexican restaurant in the area my daughter suggested we go to Mad Max as she really likes their drinks and food offerings. We were seated quickly the well occupied and appointed restaurant that has a nice Mexican motif. Our waiter got our drink orders and my daughter ordered their picadippa appetizer which is a choice of three dips and bottomless chips. Yeah, I am struggling to have pay for chips and salsa but in this case we received, guacamole, queso and a black bean dip for $9.75 which I would typically pay extra for... My daughter also added a fourth salsa to round it out and have something for everyone. The chips and dips were good and it was nice to have the variety. For drinks my wife has been sticking with her standard unsweetened iced tea, while I opted for a blackberry margarita which came in a nice large glass (I ordered the med. size). Note - They have 12 oz, 16 oz and 22 oz. sizes and happy hour and late night specials on them. The margarita had a great blackberry taste with fresh berries being a major component. For dinner I tried their Maui-Mahi fajitas and my wife went for the San Francisco wings as she was sticking to the proteins. A generous portion of grilled Mahi-Mahi on a bed of onions and red and green peppers, accompanied by shredded lettuce, dice tomatoes, sour cream guacamole and a small portion of rice and five small fresh tortillas. The grilled Mahi-Mahi was a little on the dry side but had some good flavor with the Ancho rub. Jo's San Francisco wing order came with seven hot and tasty honey garlic wings with celery sticks and a rich blue cheese dip. Food 4 Typically large portions of good, but not great food (which includes alcoholic beverages that are subject to happy and late night specials). Atmosphere 4 Nice Mexican setting with comfortable tables and booths. Service 3.5 Our waiter was pretty good but had to be reminded about refills on chips. He was pleasant and helpful. So my opinion of this location has changed over the years. I am more of a happy hour visitor than any other time but that isn't always the case. I will say that the bar staff has improved so much over the past year or so. I am guessing new employees more than anything. They are attentive and kind. You can't beat their happy hour beer prices and the wings are amazing. I wish Cranberry had a beer selection like McKnight has. I'm an IPA heavy person and McKnight Mad Mex is awesome. Cranberry is improving. My last couple meals have been very decent. I was just there tonight for a work function and had an awesome burrito and all enjoyed their meals. First time here, so we started with the chips and salsa, though were surprised that for $4.50 there wasn't anything special about it, and many of the chips were broken in small pieces. Awkwardly, it didn't show up until after dinner was served, so this place wasn't off to a great start. We ordered the signature Mad Mex Burrito, which was neat that it was square shaped, but tasted like Chipotle. The Avodilla was much more flavorful and unique, and both came out fairly quickly. Drink refills- it seems to me that Mexican restaurants should generally know by now to keep an eye on gringos like me when eating Mexican and our water glasses; I felt a bit forgotten at the table slightly off the main aisle through the dining floor.
