New Years eve my almost 17 yo Pug Maia is having trouble breathing, my vet is closed, emergency vet didn't open for another 3 hrs. I was in a panic. Then I remembered I boarded my dogs here a couple weeks prior,. I called & was told to bring her in now. Dr Schwarz comes into exam room,gives her a look over then listens to her heart & says I need to take chest Xray now. I knew @ that moment from the very concerned tone in his voice & the look on his face that my girl wasn't coming home. After he gave me a detailed explanation of the X-Ray he brought me to her. 2 of his staff were standing over my girl,one giving oxygen & slowly petting her & talking to her, the other also petting her, it appeared were assuring Maia they were with her. I had to make the decision to let my furbaby go. Dr Schwartz gave her the 1st shot & I was able hold her, hug her, stroke head talk to her, until the end. As upsetting & heartbreaking this was Dr Schwartz (who is not my dogs vet) could not have been more wonderful, compassionate, or empathetic. And this extends to all the staff who were there. I want to say THANK YOU for making this very upsetting situation "tolerable" with the kindness you extended to me, I deeply appreciated it. This vet is an absolute SCAM. Do NOT bring your pet to this so called "vet" if you're looking for one! First of all, they will scam you into services your pet does not need. Following the doctors initial exam, he will leave the room, send in a vet assistant a half hour later with an itemized bill for a host of services and labs you do not need and did not come for. THEN they will negotiate the price for you as the vet assistant leaves and comes back to the room several times to negotiate down with the doctor. The process is hours long and painful. As if that's not bad enough, I was denied a copy of my pets prescription for food that he was prescribed BY THEM and was all out of - because they wanted him back in for another visit before they would give me a copy of the prescription!! And I told them he was out of food and needed it! Unreal. What if he gets sick? They do NOT care about your pets and exist solely to make money off of you! Be warned. Since the practice was taken over by new veterinarians it has gone completely downhill. My dog has been having issues with eating and has lost significant weight. I have been attempting to contact them for days leaving voicemails and texting them without a response. I am going to have to take my dog to another vet for an emergency visit due to the lack of response. The unprofessionalism is outrageous. I also had my other dog's tumors removed and during a follow up appointment they one of the stitches and accidentally left them on. read more

Since Dr. Schwartz left it's been terrible. From nobody returning calls for 5 days to then not helping with a reoccurring issue of any pet. They wanted to book an additional appointment to re-diagnose so they can make more money. In addition, I had my other pet go there prior to this issue and receive surgery on her toenail. I spent $600 and 3 days later at her follow up, they took her bandage off and charged me an additional big charge, even though no doctor even looked ar it. I was excited when the business was taken over by two new veterinarians but that has quickly changed to disappointment. Viewing the website, it is also not up to date with staff, and the service has been less than up to par. Christi is fabulous and has always been helpful. Alysa is a wonderful Veterinary technician but informed me she was leaving, leaving the practice up and running with no licensed technician. Several times I have entered the office and NOT been greeted by a newer employee Stephanie. I don't see her on the website so I apologize if her name is spelled incorrectly. My understanding is that she is the office manager, therefore one would assume she would be the face of the front desk when she is sitting there. If this is the face people are greeted with I imagine the business will suffer. in most cases when arriving at an office it can change the entire perception when you are greeted with a smile and not a frown. It would also go a long way if she was taught to speak to customers instead of acting as if they weren't standing there, and then practicing some decorum when interacting with customers as this IS a customer service business. If I could offer a suggestion to anyone looking for a new vet, steer clear of this one!! read more

I scheduled an appt to have my male rabbit neutered. It was a 3 week wait to get an appointment! No big deal...but I was told to drop him off by 9:30AM. I complied. The receptionist said I could call around 1 or 2 to see how he was doing and that I could pick him up shortly thereafter. I called at 2 only to find out that my rabbit had NOT been done yet!!!!! Needless to say I was FURIOUS! My poor guy was stuck in a crate or cage somewhere in the facility and probably didn't have any food or water (a necessity for rabbits!) The receptionist said they were busy with other neuterings. I asked how many had to be done before it would be my rabbits "turn". I was told about 3 - 4. I followed up with "how long does each one take?" I didn't think my question was inappropriate, I was just trying to figure out how I was going to tend to my other animals since I hadn't been home since dropping my rabbit off. There was no response from the receptionist! I called again at 4 only to be told by the office manager that the Dr was NOT going to neuter my rabbit because I was "nasty" to the receptionist. The only "nasty" thing I said was that this was poor scheduling to have me drop him off at 9:30 AM and he STILL hadn't been done by 4PM! After this horrendous experience, I WOULD NEVER USE THEM FOR ANY OF MY ANIMALS (2 dogs, 2cats, a parrot, a parakeet and 5 chickens - plus the rabbit :) I'll take ALL of my business elsewhere! read more

We brought our beloved cat Ringo here for a specialized surgery and couldn't be happier with the help and attention. The entire team is so caring and compassionate. All our questions have been answered, the team is always available to answer questions via text and our baby is healing nicely. This was major surgery as our cat cannot walk for 6+weeks until fully healed so we have needed an expert vet and support team. The entire team is amazing and a special shout out to Dr Orban (who did amazing surgery), Manny (who was so patient with us post surgery) and Tom who is always there to answer our questions. read more

I m new to the area I found this vet they are so compassionate and efficient. I highly recommend them.

When my lab became sick, the dr was unable to get blood and said he was probably sick from something he ate. Within a week he had violent, bloody diarrhea and then he said he had anchor worms but by then it was too late to treat and he died at home, he was only 8 yrs old. Then I took my cat who was lethargic not eating or drinking, they kept him the weekend and said he was fine, but he was no better. I took him to another vet who said he had advanced diabetes, we had to put him down. He was very old and if the dr diagnosed him properly he probably would have been put down anyway, but I didn't want his last days spent in a cage. This happened quite a while ago, but after killing 2 of my pets I went elsewhere. Now I go to fishkill animal hospital and they have been great read more

Years ago, this place had a good groomer who really knew how to properly groom rabbits. He was wonderful and truly compassionate. He left, and others took over. Then our rabbit would come home with blue bandaids on (for cuts) that they never mentioned or apologized for. We promptly stopped taking him there - plenty of good vets and groomers in the area. read more

I was very disappointed with my recent visit here. After having driven a very stressful 50 minutes one way with a puppy who pooped AND puked all over my back seat, this facility thought it appropriate to charge me $2.52 for 'waste disposal' after handing them the bag that I used to clean up the mess. A bit of social awareness would have gone a long way in retaining me as a customer but instead they will no longer have my business. read more

Compassion vet is the best! We've been going here for 10+ years. My small chihuahua has been extremely sick on and off for the past 3 years and Dr. Schwartz has been so attentive to her. He always calls to check up on her and allows me to call him at any hour even if he is on vacation just to help with my dog! They also have same day appointments so if something comes up they let me bring my dog over within the hour to check her. I highly recommend this vet to anyone in the area!! Compassion Vet is the place to go! Our kitty has received the best care. One time she got into a scuffle with another animal from the wrong side of the tracks! We were able to bring her in at a moments notice. Dr.Schwartz insisted that she stay overnight to keep an eye on her. The receptionist are always so helpful-there is a reason why this place is called Compassion! Can not recommend it enough. read more

I came here soon after I adopted my dog. The staff was great and everyone was professional . But when the bill came after my dog was neutered it was close to $500. This was above what I had budgeted and researched. Furthermore, when I had my other dog, her spayed surgery fee was less than $250 (it was done at another clinic), even though it's considered a more invasive surgery. Dr. Schwartz is a graduate of Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine and I definitely think he's knowledgeable and if you're willing to pay premium prices, I'd recommend him and his staff. But I do know there are other clinics that are great practices and less expensive. I now go to Community Animal Hospital on Titusville Rd, and they're equally wonderful. read more
