After scheduling an appointment to repair my geothermal system, and waiting around the house for most of the day, the tech arrived and said that he didn't work on geothermal systems. He called the office and let me know that they won't work on geothermal systems. That conversation could have been had 6 hours earlier. VERY BAD EXPERIENCE. This company has no respect for your home and lacks the ability to properly complete a job. Our wall unit had to be removed to be repaired and then the same unit rehunge on the bracket that remained on the wall. Workers were asked to wear shoe protection or put down a barrier to protect our persian rug but they didn't, tracking in black mulch all over the edges of the rug. An appointment was requested for someone different than the installer to inspect the job as it was obvious from the paint and sealer lines that the air conditioner was not on the bracket the same way. They sent the same person on a different day than scheduled who did not fix the problem. I called and asked the answering service to leave a message for the manager as I was frustrated and upset that they did not send someone else out and the air conditioner was still not right. The owner Mark called me, but we did not have a conversation. He just ranted that "I am sick of your pissing and moaning. You will never be happy. I have no ties to you. Find someone else to service your air conditioner." I am including the pictures so you can determine for yourself if you want them in your home. read more

I decided I needed my oil heater cleaned and tuned and called another company. After he was done the heater started overheating, I called him back and he said I didn't have enough return air vents! I've lived in this house 41 years and never had a problem with that! I even bought a new thermostat at his suggestion. I knew I had to get a second opinion and called Competitive. The technician Dylan listened to my story and told me to turn the heater on. After a few minutes he said the other company had overfired the heater by putting on a way too big nozzle. Dylan put the correct nozzle on and now it's running perfectly! I'm sold on Competitive and Dylan...guys you have a customer for life! read more

Our furnace wasn't working properly over the weekend, so called Competitive 7am Monday. Mary answered, and set up a time for Dave, one of their Techs, to stop out that morning. Dave determined we needed a new furnace...ours was 22 yrs old, and not repairable. The owner Matt, rearranged his schedule, and came over to our home that same day ((Mon.), to go over some options, and help us to select a new furnace, and central air unit best suited for our home. After some discussion, he set up an installation date for Wednesday, 2 days later!! Two young Techs arrived 7am Wednesday, we're incredibly polite and worked hard until the job was complete! After having Competitive install two air conditioning units & having them service my home for over 5 years, they decided they didn't want to come for a repair job. I called the office at 8:30 a.m and set up an appointment between 11 - 1pm. They called at 12:30 to say they refused to come. It would have been nice for them to have told me they had a problem with me when I called at 8:30 so I didn't waste my time waiting for them. We did have a disagreement on an invoice last year and I ended up paying the bill in full even though they told me they would review the invoice. I ended up finding an excellent Heating & Air Conditioning company that fixed the problem quickly and at a reasonable price. read more

Had Competitive come out (they were very prompt) for a furnace repair today. The technician, Dylan, was courteous, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. It turned out to be a simple repair and no parts needed replaced. I don't doubt that some other companies would have tried to "up-sell" me with new parts, double the labor time, etc. because I (like most) know nothing about the workings of a furnace. But not Competitive. They were fair, honest and their hourly rate was extremely reasonable. Dylan explained the repair, fixed the problem and completed the job in less than an hour. I called to inquire about having my HVAC system serviced, I had some basic questions about service for my system. I spoke with someone named Beth over the phone, she seemed very disinterested and was very curt with her replies to my questions. Furthermore, I don't know if she's new or if she didn't want my business but she was just plain rude. I recently purchased a home in Browns Mills NJ. My home has an oil fired boiler. I came home to find white smoke pouring out of my chimney and my home smelled of soot. My utility room was full of soot. I called one of the major companies to take care of the problem for me and they never even showed up.
