They fixed our problem super quick by jumping the condenser but told us that that it was a temporary fix and they didn't know how long it would last. I asked for a quote for a completely new condenser unit. After some research their price seemed very fair. They responded quickly and were out installing by Monday or Tuesday. Installation, including moving the condenser further away from the house's gas line took less than a day. They even came back later to change out the thermostat to a more modern one. We were trying to get a smart thermostat but we didn't have the C wire which the thermostat needs for constant power. They tried more than one solution and were there for hours. Unfortunately they couldn't make it work. But I was happy with the effort and it showed they cared about the service they were providing.

They recently started offering Plumbing services and my first experience was so-so. As part of the maintenance plan, you now get a plumbing inspection every year. The plumber who came out today was very nice but missed an issue that I pointed out to him. He did have his Master Plumber that was hiding in the truck (? Seemed odd haha) come take a look. There was some estimate issues leading me to think the installation of a toilet would be $1,000 for labor alone. However, the owner was quick to rectify and look into the issue personally once he became aware, and was very open to feedback on how to make the estimates more clear. I would still like to see them itemize the cost of materials in the future, but it seems to be something at least on his radar. I would give this company a chance if you're having issues. They were on time, checked out the AC, added coolant and then took a quick peek at the furnace. They said both look good for the age (17 years) and should be good for a while. I had questions about rebates for heat pumps and he had answers about rebates, rough costs and advantages of the new heat pumps. He reiterated that we didn't need to change out our current equipment but if we feel it's important for environmental reasons there are good options. We'll definitely be using them going forward, and have a fall furnace checkup scheduled.

On the first cold day this winter he claims the heater is all rusted out in the exchanger and has to be replaced, along with the entire system because a new heater can't work with an old air conditioner. Our neighbor suggested we call their guy. He's been in business for 30 years. Needless to say, the heater was not rusted he showed me the unit was very dirty, the fan motor and wheel were clogged with dirt and there were two dead birds in the chimney. The outside air conditioner was only 10 years old. I'm convinced SK had never done anything other than collect their fee and try to sell stuff we didn't want or need.
