Upon my calling to pick go up the cake, no cake was on order. The Baker offer me a rum cake but I needed a birthday cake. I started to go to my regular bakery. So disappointed. After many years away from Union my family stopped in the bakery for cookies and pastries. The eclairs seem to have been made yesterday. The dough appeared stale, although the cream was delicious. I have been to "acclaimed" bakeries in New York City, but none can compare to this place's cannoli. Their filling has a great texture and contains chopped pignoli (pine nuts) and almond or marzipan flavor. I've ordered several custom cakes here- layers of moist, vanilla cake with strawberry or cherry compote, then vanilla custard, and chocolate custard in between, and slightly soaked in sweet rum. Holy moly cannoli! We came back to this place twice in about a week. Their cannolis are just so amazing and every time I am in Union New Jersey I sure will come back. You have to try the regular cannoli and you have to try the chocolate cannoli. The chocolate cannoli is great for chocolate lovers because it just makes the taste so much better by adding a nice covering on the cannoli shell of chocolate. You can tell they use high-quality ingredients. I believe the regular cannoli was under three dollars. I am definitely happy with that price because it is very hard to find a good cannoli. March 2022, I recently purchased a large traditional Italian rum birthday cake for $49.00. It was a very good size and quality for the price. This traditional cake includes vanilla and chocolate custard, Italian cherries, and rum inside with whipped cream, and sliced almonds on the outside. It was sooo tasty and fresh- brought me right back to my childhood. It's tough to find this italian rum cake with such traditional ingredients. Most bakeries do not put enough rum and most bakeries use strawberries instead of the more expensive italian cherries. The baker is always accommodating and even did a great job despite ordering the day before! I was introduced to this faboulous bakery a few years back when my old boss brought me a tiramisu cup. Apparently, these delicious cups are brought here from Italy, or so I have been told. Forgive me body for I have indulged on an excessive amount of tasty Italian sweets! Really though, with all the sweet treats they offer, I feel like eating everything on display. The man at the counter, whose name I unfortunately don't know, is really friendly. He is proud to show and suggest many of his pastry shop's specialties. The owner--at least I think he's the owner--was nice enough to let me sample one of their mini chocolate biscottis as well. The biscottis alone are worth coming back for. Key Lime Cheesecake: If they sell a larger key lime cheesecake, I am bound to come back. The small round one I bought was perfect. The top had a thin layer of slightly tangy lime glaze, while the cheesecake itself was dense and very creamy. It's chilled along with their other treats, which made it taste even better. It has the perfect sweetness and tartness I look for. Chocolate Cannoli with Cream and Chocolate Pieces: I've had quite a few cannolis but this is the best one I've had thus far. The filling is very creamy and sweet, with the chocolate chips and chocolate shell adding another notch of sweetness. I love their cannoli, but next time, I'll probably stick with a plain cannoli shell. Aside from the chocolate chips, the owner even dusted it with powdered sugar so you can imagine how sweet these are! As someone who is actually not too fond of sweets, these were great! Zeppola: Their Zeppole--basically like deep fried cream puffs--had extra filling on top and, I believe, cherries on top of that. It was light and puffy, while the fillings (ricotta and vanilla cream) had the right amount of sweetness. Like everything else, the owner dusted it with powdered sugar. My favorite, however, would definitely be the ricotta. The prices weren't listed, but considering how tasty everything I bought was and the fact that they were homemade, it was worth every penny. The owner told me that they ship to anywhere in the country; he specifically mentioned California since he asked where I was from. There were a lot of pastries and treats to choose from. Overall, it was a great first impression. I'll be sure to come back for more. read more

My mom has a tremendous sweet tooth and this italian bakery has the best pastries period. My only complaint is that they ALWAYS hanxle the pastries with no gloves. No doubt the "positive" reviews must be from friends and relatives, or at least, of dubious origin. On my way to a relatives house I stopped in a bought nine pieces of pastry. I was told the sfogliardelle (sp) was "just coming out of the oven." I asked he put one in a bag for the road. Once in the car on the parkway we opened the bag and it was cold, refrigerator cold. It was soggy, dry, a total disgrace. When we arrived at my relative's house we opened the box and found pasta ciotte soggy and dry from being in the fridge. I was totally humiliated. I'd have been better served buying Hostess Snowballs or Drakes Cakes from 7/ Eleven or Qwik Check and I would have saved $30. The closest I will come to that bakery again is when I pass it. And even then, it will be from across the street. read more

Cookies. YUMMMMMMY I'm generally in love with those pink leaf shaped cookies , which oft times come in green but I am specifically in love with Conca's leaf shaped cookies. I eat them anytime I can find a bakery that makes them. The staff (maybe owner?) was really friendly and gave me a sample of their signature biscotti. Biscotti alone is worth a trip back. If I could give this place a zero star I would. I am extremely upset over the cake that they made me for my wedding. Not only did it look NOTHING like what I asked for, it was rushed and looked like absolute crap. I asked for gold and white, and they gave me yellow and pink. I was absolutely heartbroken over how terrible the cake came out ESPECIALLY when I told Juan if he couldn't do the design then I would pick something else. When I called him after the wedding, he basically told me that it was my fault bc he "told" me that if I choose the chocolate custard filling then it would look that way. He NEVER ONCE told me that, but regardless of the matter it does not answer to the YELLOW AND PINK. The first picture is what I received and the second is what I asked for.
