4/8/2026 was my first time returning to the Guild as a concert venue, I've only ever been to it as…read morea movie theater in the 1990's-2000's. We saw Gary Numan with Tremours as the opening band. Tickets were very expensive, and General Admission/standing areas were sort of confusing and severely limited. There were very few places to stand in order to get a good view of the bands and it was pretty uncomfortable to stand in a tiny spot for hours. Luckily, the staff here is amazing. They were personably, approachable, helpful, polite, and friendly, unlike snobby & distant staff at most concert venues in SF, Oakland, Berkeley, and San Jose. Even the security team was pretty nice, which goes a long way to making a concert experience pleasant. Bartenders were nice too, along with the ushers & box office people. We arrived early and a few of the ushers helped advise us on where we were allowed to stand as G/A to give us the best views. Downstairs is a mess of packed human bodies, limited space, and poor views, so we tried our luck and found a decent space upstairs to camp out at. We had a good view of the stage and weren't smothered by a bunch of Gen X'ers & Boomers. The theater is beautiful and nicely updated from what I remember. It is clean, and the floors, tables, bathrooms, foyer, seats, and stairs are very new, and made to look vintage. Nice touch. Capacity is around 500 people, and this show was nearly sold out. It got very hot, humid, and uncomfortable about 1/2 way through the concert, I think they need to update the HVAC system here, or at least have some fans or A/C. The fire alarm went off probably due to the heat, fog, and humidity of the sweaty crowd. But, it was turned off, and the show went on. Sound system was not the best. Music & vocals were not crystal clear and everything sound slightly muffled. Lighting was good, powerful, and bright, to the point that I became a bit photosensitive along the way, and had to put on my sunglasses to keep from becoming dizzy. Volume was good, not too loud, but I elected to wear earplugs anyways to preserve my hearing. Drink prices are on par with most live entertainment venues, which means incredibly high. $20 for 20oz beers & $20 for cocktails. Adding to the high cost of entry/tickets to the show, this venue became almost unaffordable. It's probably not a big deal to people from Atherton, Woodside, Los Altos, Saratoga, and Portola Valley, but I can't afford these prices. I still had a great time here. I just wish they had better G/A standing area options with better views for those who can't afford the $$$ reserved/VIP seating. Space is limited and oddly configured, hard to get a comfortable place to stand & get a good view, and ticket prices along with drink prices are for the richer crowd. But, the space is beautiful, clean, and intimate, and a great place to see a show. Don't wear too much clothing to come to a show here. It gets very hot & humid, and you will be packed in with a lot of sweaty people. And the sound system should be improved for more clarity & better quality. But, the Guild is a great local venue to see live music. It is clean, staff are wonderful, and location is very convenient for those of us living on the Peninsula. Easy to get to whether taking the train or driving, and there are a lot of restaurants nearby in the downtown area. Prices are not affordable for everyone though, maybe just the rich(er) techies & finance crowd. I'd love to see the Guild evolve a bit on the accessibility & affordability aspect to become a Bay Area destination to all for good, live music. They do line up a lot of 80's bands here, so if you are a fan of that era, make sure to check out the Guild Theater in Menlo Park, CA. We will already be back later this month to see Flock of Seagulls. Now thst I know how this place operates, I will have a better plan to find a good place to be inside to enjoy the show. I will definitely leave my jacket at home, and bring my sunglasses & earplugs again, and I hope to have an even better experience next time!

If you happen to be sensitive to sound, you should sit to the sides of the stage away from the speakers. If you station yourself in front of the stage and speakers, it's LOUD! There are two food trucks, a beer truck and a fried food truck. Bathroom situation was not that bad. There is an actual bathroom close to the piers, but it has only two stalls, creating a slow turnaround. Then there are the port-a-potties near the concert of about 5-6, they move a lot faster. Music was kind of funky, I was looking for more cover songs. We went with the flow and soaked in the vibes. It does get windy, so bring a hat that won't blow off. First group to walk through the doors at 11 am on a Saturday. Tired and happy from the beautiful hike we had planned to spend the entire day here. Unfortunately, for me since I was entirely interested in the food option, the cook does a lot of local community work and wasn't going to be in until Monday. Anyways, place has a bunch of games from casual board games to dominos even all the way to the game I could not convince my group to play. TWISTER! Continuing to asks the lady questions I learned they do karoake nights frequently, have live music and dance nights occasionally and those dance nights are sometimes themed. The place has an amazing outside patio that transcends into a small concert area with a stage and lights. Overall it is a cool lil spot. I can't give a fully thought out score because too much was missing from what I think I can experience. I want to go back but distance will make it difficult.

I ordered the hamburger with cheese, blue cheese salad, and "adult" mac & cheese cause it's spicy not spiked with alcohol as I thought. $30 for everything. The portions are ample to split between hubby and me then wash down with a cold cider from the tap. I ate with my eyes. The salad ingredients were fresh and generous with the dressing heavy handed. The chef prepared burger the perfect med-rare so not bloody. The burger and mac& cheese were not greasy. So my aging stomach gratefully didn't require anti-acid remedy. There is local homemade turkey stew for non beef eaters, which I would like to try when weather is colder. I'm also intrigued by the steak bits over mash. There is outdoor seating. It's good for a large group or want to listen to tranquility of forest & creek (with the occasional zoom of a car driving by) instead of chatter of locals catching up on the day, cracking of pool balls, or inquisitive visitors want to learn more about life in La Honda. One of the two dog ambassadors, Lucy (I think), will come by to let you pet her or feed her a treat from the jar on the counter while she sniffs around for food that "accidentally" fall from your plate to eat. The women's restroom was clean and bright better than most dive bars. Apple Jack's watering hole ambience is not for everyone.

I got to meet Kyle, who works sounds at many of the events. He told me about an upcoming show he puts together where he gives away free studio time to up and coming artists. So of course, I had to check out the showcase he organized for his birthday. It was AMAZING. Never have I seen so many black people congregating in Cupertino, or such a professional crowd of musicians mixing and mingling in their creative community. Jeremiah from Rebelskamp was there, and there was a feature show in between open mics where Kyle performed with an impressive new group. It's a crew of rappers and a singer that feels like a 90's rnb and rap group made for a current, grown up audience. Very danceable music. But the whole event really just put Cupertino on the map. It's a space for artists to come to a stage and get love from others in the industry. And they even allow for stand up comedy (you get a WHOLE 7 minutes...that's an eternity in stand up time). Very grateful I decided to get off my couch on a Sunday to see what was going on. I'll definitely check out more events in the future (they are supposed to take place every 2 weeks)!

The cocktails here were weak but delicious. The live music event had a listed start time of 7:00pm, but actually started at 8:15pm. Lighting and sound for the show appeared to be in need of improvement, the equipment in the venue not fitting for the environment. Lots of messy exposed cables, what looked like a dangerous setup, the plates on the ground seemingly too small for the giant speakers hanging on the top of the metal truss arch. The sound wasn't terrible, but they were not using all the speakers and subwoofers (and this negatively affected the band's performance, as they couldn't hear themselves). Also, there was no light on the musicians on stage, some of the band members looked like silhouettes throughout the night, and the organizers/technicians didn't seem to know how to fix this. That being said, the decor and lighting on the walls and ceiling, as well as the lights on the DJ booth were quite nice. The atmosphere inside this venue overall was modern and inviting, with lounge seating, high tables, and one pool table. The Dennis Dove Band entertained what was mainly an older crowd, with a range of blues, rnb, and more. They had people on their feet, dancing to songs like I Shot the Sheriff, Tennessee Whiskey, and Wicked Game by Chris Isaak. Great sounds on the guitar, bass, drums, vocals, with guest performers from Eurotrash joining them on stage too. Everything was super casual, seemingly unprepared/unprofessional, late start time, technical difficulties during the show, etc., but we enjoy and appreciate most live music events regardless. Tip: don't order food here, unless you're desperate. It's really bad bowling alley food (see my other review for Homestead Bowl, for more on that).

Now, I'm not like, craaaaaaaAaAaAaazy about Dive Bards, but every once in awhile one will sing to me and can just strike a chord on my heart strings. Oh? Bar? Not Bard? Mah bad! Yes! I LOVE bars! But usually, yes, I prefer a more lively, younger crowd, but yeah, when you roll with the homies, basically everything becomes more funner to some degree. But this little ditty also has Karaoke, the fun kind! Not that go-hide-in-a-small-room-that-stinks with your 30 friends, but the kind where you're on a full stage in front of EVERYONE. E-V-E-R-Y-O-N-E!!! They also have a pretty sweet selection of IPAs. Don't know about anything else because I do not CARE about anything else!! YAY!! KTHXBAI! LUVYOU!!

Frankly, I had a nice time tonight with the actual karaoke, sans what is written below. My one star review is specifically related to the experience that I had tonight with the bartender. I did not get her name. My partner ordered drinks for him and myself. My partner tipped the bartender 30% for the two drinks. (It was $14 for a mixed cocktail and a soda-- a little pricey, but I guess it's reasonable for a bar that has some kind of live music every night despite the fact that we've gotten the same order and been charged a different price on previous visits with other bartenders.) Later, I went back to the bar to ask for two waters. The bartender told me that it would be $4 each, because they only sell bottled water. (They have a full bar, with a gun that has water. Multiple bartenders here have previously given me water from the gun without charge, as is the STANDARD at every bar I have ever been to.) I told her water from the gun would be fine. She tried to argue with me. I once again requested water from the gun, saying I didn't mind and that it would be fine. She told me she would give it to me and charge me $2 per glass, at which point I gave up and went back to my table without the water. Charging your patrons for WATER at a bar is ridiculous. If you have people drinking copious amounts of alcohol and you refuse to give them water when they request it, it's also a liability. Charging your patrons for water ANYWHERE is, frankly, ridiculous. I'll just go drink it from the tap in the bathroom for free, I guess. Not a great experience, but if that's what it takes then I guess I can do it. Really incredibly disappointed. I come to this bar regularly and have never seen this bartender before, and hope that I don't see her again. A huge shoutout again to Laura the KJ, because she's epic. If this review was just about her, it would be 5 stars. Same for Amanda, the bartender we've chatted with before. She would get 5 stars from me as well.

Many restaurants, coffe shops and a few bars walking distance. The theater even sells alcoholic drinks that you can enjoy at your seat while watching the show! I went for a Mariachi concert. Sat in the balcony. If you are not tall, either sit in lower balcony or after 5th row of upper balcony. There is a pony wall that can obstruct your view.
