An absolute gem of a restaurant. Came early Saturday night without a reservation and was seated immediately. The food was outstanding and he service was impeccable. The service here is a 5/5. Really amazing. The food overall had highs and lows. Mussels cooked to perfection! Both pasta dishes tasted great but the cavatelli were tiny with too much broccoli rabe leaf and stem mixed in. Minor criticisms for the soups. Pasta fagioli had too many kidney beans vs pasta. The minestrone seemed to have some odd vegetables choices like cauliflower and broccoli in it, almost like a frozen bag mix in it. Bread was average. Will repeat. read more

This is one of the best authentic Italian neighborhood restaurants in Queens. Small and quaint. The owners are so nice and passionate about their food. Went here yesterday for dinner with my family. It was my second time coming here. I really LOVE the Papadelle Bolognese! SOOO delicious oh my! I highly recommend trying this dish. The papadelle pasta tastes so fresh and the sauce is deeeeeeeeeeeeeelish. We had the fried calamari and fried zucchini.... warning...it is very addicting. I had to stop myself from eating the whole plate! The frutta di mare was very tasty and the waitress brought over this spicy olive oil with red pepper flakes which paired very well with this dish. The chicken parm was pounded thinly and had the perfect amount of cheese. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. They have plenty of street parking. I didn't have any dessert this time because I was too stuffed but I'd definitely come back and try some!! Highly recommend coming here! read more

I find the food to be excellent, but the first time I came, the waiter was honestly condescending, patronizing, and rude to me and my friend. My friend told the waiter when he came over that we were ready to order in a nice tone and he obnoxiously said, "Ladies, ladies, wait til you hear the specials." He then listed off the specials and we perked up at one of them and he said, "SEE! What did I tell you? You gotta wait!" It was extremely annoying. Then, when I came later in the week with my father, he was extremely polite and did not make any wise crack or patronizing joke. I had such high hopes. I went here last night with a friend. We ordered the buffalo mozzarella , it tasted awful. It was ice cold like it had . been frozen. We also ordered a bottle of wine. It was corked it tasted awful. The owner took the mozzarella off our bill. We were were going to have dinner....but after all we left. We took the wine with us and had to throw it out. Came across this beautiful Italian restaurant on yelp. Went in about 30 min to closing and the staff welcomed us in very friendly. Our server was great I didn't catch his name but he was a bit older, he explained to us the specials they had and was always there when we needed assistance. Food was spectacular and came out quick! I ordered the penne vodka with meatballs, and I'm not a big fan of al dente pasta but this was surprisingly pleasant! Not too sweet like an American style and not too savory it had just the right balance flavor wise. Overall great place to eat and amazing staff, would definitely dine in again! Amazing! read more

I say this because I have read reviews of restaurants and I visit them and I am sorely displeased but not tonight. The food was very good-the staff was attentive and the service was delightful. They were very accommodating in changing the type of pasta for the dish my husband ordered. The calamari was the best I've had in such a long time. It melted in your mouth. The warm butternut squash and mushroom salad was very tasty also. The Risotto with Langostinos was delicious. I will be back soon and often. read more

From another Concettina, I just love this restaurant! We tried it out tonight for my mom's birthday, and it was an excellent night out! My mom is from Italy and an amazing cook herself, so it's not easy to find a restaurant that lives up to her expectations (and mine, I'm so spoiled by her food!). But she deserves a night out for her birthday and I've been wanting to try this place, and I'm glad we did. The service was great, the wine perfectly paired for our food and the food was delicious! Loved the calamari & fried zucchini app, and the sauce that came with it was amazing! I could have eaten that alone. My mom and I both had the risotto special, with eggplant and sun dried tomatoes, my sons had the chicken parm and peppardele bolognese, and my boyfriend had the spaghetti frutta di mare. We all finished our plates, and I'll tell you if I was home, by myself I would have licked my plate clean! The desserts were incredible too! The panna cotta was so rich and creamy (wish I could have licked that plate clean too!). And the price was absolutely right for a family of 5, with apps, wine, dessert and coffee, definitely worth it! We'll be back! read more

I'm going to give this place a strong 4 , bc of a few things , but it has the potential of being a 5. The place is really nice, & has an old school vibe to it. The service is great .We had a few appetizers, the Meatballs are excellent & their sauce is also . Then we had the Buffalo Mozzarella with the roasted tomatoes & peppers, that was good also. I was very disappointed with the appetizer of Clams & Mussels in a white sauce , the Clams & Mussels were so small , & half the shells were empty in the dish, I wouldn't order that again. I ordered Chicken Parmigiana in Vodka Sauce but it came out with just melted cheese on it & the Vodka Sauce on the side, I like it all baked together. My Wife ordered the Cacio E Pepe & It wasn't that creamy , she wasn't crazy about it. I also ordered a side order of spinach & it was baby spinach , & I prefer the leaf. My husband and I have been to Concettina a number of times now. The food and service are top notch. It's a very cozy restaurant and the wait staff and owners are extremely interested in making sure that you've got everything you need for a fine dining experience. My husband had a seafood appetizer which was plentiful and veal Marsala. I had a salad (it was big enough for both of us!) and the filet mignon with peppercorn sauce which melted in your mouth and was delicious! Been to this restaurant many times. Each time I tried something different. This time I had gnocchi. It was so light and fluffy. The portion was plentiful. The sauce was flavorful. Usually I can't finish but this time I did. Every time I have been here I am never disappointed. The owner makes an effort to make sure everything is delicious. He takes the time to know his guests and make sure we are satisfied. The atmosphere is comfortable and you feel relaxed. The Chianti was delicious. read more

Tried Concettina for the first time for takeout/delivery a couple of weeks ago. Food was delicious! Everything was fresh and tasty with a unique twist on typical Italian fare. We ordered 2 soups- minestrone and pasta fagioli, Beet gnocchi, veal chop Milanese, a risotto special and for dessert- the chocolate terrine. We also ordered a couple of other special dishes as well that I can't remember right now, but what I do remember is that everything was very fresh and homemade with quality ingredients. They have specials on the menu daily in addition to the regular offerings on their printed menu. Prices are average to slightly expensive, but I don't mind paying extra for good food; you get what you pay for! Delivery was on time and everything was packed nicely. Upon entering Concettina we were greeted by the owner Alberto, he sat us and gave us our menus. We ordered a bottle of wine with Mary (the other owner). We decided to order the calamari and zucchini appetizer and mussels. Both were stellar. They calamari was topped with fried spiralized zucchini all so tasty and crunchy, served with a homemade marinara (not the cheap stuff you get at the pizzeria). The mussels came in a red sauce that had a spicy flavor to it, it was so good you could drink it. I ordered the gnocchi for dinner which was delicious, other people at my table ordered the steak, cooked to perfection, the pappardelle bolognese, tasted just as good as my Italian grandparent's, the penne alla vodka, had a different very tasty flavor to it and the seafood risotto special was full of seafood and delectable. We ordered cappuccinos which came out promptly and tried all of their desserts. The lemon gelato, tiramisu, panna cotta and chocolate terrine all delicious, the panna cotta was my favorite!! Amazing food and service, authentic Italian that makes you want to lick the plate clean

First let me say the food was excellent. The portions were generous. The price was reasonable and comparable to similar restaurants. Concerning the waiter service, I would not define it friendly, but rather business like. We were a party of 6 with two children. We asked if there is a children menu, we were told there is "only what's on a menu." SPECIALS: Then he started reading of his specials. I politely interrupted and requested to also include the prices of the items. HE DID NOT KNOW THE PRICES. And on his facial expression it appeared he did not appreciate my asking. He had to go back to the kitchen and return with the prices. What does this tell me? In the past, in another restaurant, without checking first, I was charged $25 for a piece of cake, since then I always ask. I am very sceptical that this a tactic, blank check to pad the bill. In today's times with copy machines, why can't restaurants slip in a sheet of the specials in the menu? read more

Our server was always ready to ask us what we needed, clearly and passionately explained all of the meals when asked, and did his best to provide recommendations. However, I had higher expectations for the food based on the Yelp reviews of past customers. I ordered the Pasta bolognese, fried zucchini, and penne ala vodka. My wife found this place on the Whitestone blog. We wanted to stay local and were in the mood for seafood; kids love pasta so we decided to try it out. We got the Grilled Octopus and Fried Calamari / Zucchini plater for appetizers. Branzino and Salmon for my wife and I, Seafood pasta, 4 cheese pasta and Chicken parmigiana for my girls. Not long into our evening the owner checked in on us and we began to chat about the menu and how this restaurant came to be.
