I haven't had the pleasure of dining here for several years. It was a favorite (special) restaurant for my husband and me. Hubby died 9 years ago and I have not been back since. The food was always 5+ stsar and the chef was always ready to accommodate my order. Here I was introduced to Etouffe and he would prepare it for me even if was not a menu choice. Great service. We are one of those annoying customers that wanted to switch tables when one came available that was close to the water. They allowed us to switch with a smile. We order the conch fritters appetizer, and the Donny's platter to share. The fritters, and Donny's platter were both absolutely sensational! We did get the platter fried instead of blackened or grilled, next time going to try the grilled and see how that is. We ordered takeout and the food was just ok. I am not a seafood person so I had a chicken salad sandwich. The sandwich wasn't anything special, but I did really like the fries! I would love to check this spot out another time and actually dine in. It's in an awesome location right on the beach, with a wonderful deck. The menu also shows some delicious frozen drinks! The restaurant just reopened for the season and the outdoor area has looked very busy, so it's definitely a popular spot! We called to order our takeout. I do wish they had an option to pay over the phone and bring the food outside rather than us having to go in during COVID. The mask requirement was recently lifted for restaurants in SC, and while staff still have them on we are still not comfortable being around so many people without masks on...which can be quite a lot when people are walking in and out of a restaurant, in addition to anyone that's of course eating. read more

First off, eating outside here is lovely. Atmosphere is a ten. Eating inside here, I'd rather waste my money elsewhere. The food has been good here forever, with the fries being the star of the show (I know, sounds silly, but the fries were so good it made this place an easy 10/10!). Fast forward to a year ago and (and I believe new owners) and now the food is far downhill from what it used to be. Fries are now crinkle cut frozen french fries, and everything else is just ok. For the price, it's not horrible, but it is certainly overpriced food catered for one time customers who just want to eat near the water. It's a shame they have strayed far from the quality food and service that made this a must visit spot. read more

The previous owner Donny even has a menu item called the Donny platter. Walk down the beach or drive here but try it out when in the Garden City area. read more

Food was delicious!! The crab cake I had was a real crab cake.. sweet and savory! I ordered the ribeye and a salad as well . Steak was perfect, salad tasted great but the onion slices were huge and the carrot peelings were hard to eat. We counted six waiters just standing .. they were definitely overstaffed! Ordered a drink, Tito's and cranberry, while I looked over the menu. Decided on the catch of the day, fried grouper, coleslaw and side salad with ranch dressing. Delicious food with a beautiful view! I had the crab cake sandwich, and it was a 10/10. My husband and niece both got the grilled mahi sandwich and they enjoyed it. We ate inside to avoid waiting since we have a 3 year old, but we enjoyed the atmosphere inside as well. The service was excellent. Our cups never went empty. I didn't rate it a full 5 because I feel the kid's menu is limited. The only seafood option is shrimp. read more
