I am Bahamian, and you usually don't find to many Bahamian restaurants in South Florida. This place has thee best authentic Bahamian food. I ordered the cracked conch dinner with the potato salad and side salad and it was delicious. I don't usually order potato salad from any restaurant but their potato was very good. The conch was very tender and flavorful. I also had the conch their conch fritters which has a generous amount of conch. I will definitely be back to this place. I was sorely disappointed by this restaurant. While the decor was wonderfully nostalgic (original straw market theme), the service and food left much to be desired. I ordered the boil fish Saturday special. It came with a wonderful peice of buttered johnny cake, yellow grits, and a bland boil fish. No amount of additional salt, "goat" pepper, or lime was enough to help me to finish the dish. Where do I begin??? First we arrived at 12:26pm on a Friday and they had a chicken wing & fry meal posted but didn't have any wings. So I decided on ordering a conch dinner but was advised that the mac & cheese or peas & rice wasn't ready.. Wow.. Nothing is ready or available on a Friday afternoon.. I'll be fair because it seems like this restaurant may be a little on the new side. The decor is beautiful, lots of pastel colors reminding me of my visit to the Bahamas. Their two biggest problems are their service and lack of seasoning on their food. I haven't tried their conch but sadly I won't be coming back. My first visit the brown stew chicken was bland. I use to go to Lynn's in West Park, but they randomly closed. I had seen this place preparing to open and thought maybe it was Lynn's re-opening at a new location. Well, one day while waiting at an adjacent drive thru I saw the paper was down and balloons were up: it was open. On my next immediate day off, I waited patiently for lunch/dinner time so I could give Conch Krawl a try. Being in S. Florida where everyone thinks they can make good Bahamian cuisine, I mentally prepared myself to be let down. I walked in and was greeted, I smiled....the hostess had a Bahamian accent. Right away I know this is going to be authentic. The lady that assisted me was very nice and hospitable, I knew she couldn't be from S. FL. I smiled again. I ordered my food and waited. While I waited, I watched. The cook(whom I assume is probably the owner/boss) did her thing in the back while the ladies took care of the front AND assisted in the back when needed, no attitude. I smiled once more. Then as watched t.v. I heard humming, it was the cook. Yes, this is truly Bahamian. Many of my Bahamian relatives tend to do the same. I smiled again, but wider. Another worker gave me my conch salad while I waited...my smile exploded! Outside of the kitchen of Bahamian relatives, I have never had conch salad like this outside of the Bahamas, EVER! I started to order some conch fritters, but I decided to leave some conch for you guys to try(especially since the guy ahead of me ordered a whole to-go plate full of them). Please give them a try. Who takes 45 mins to cook conch? This company does. That's not the worst part . When my wife and I received our conch and fry plates , the plates was full of small pieces of conch what looked like crumbs and all three plates were like this . A total waste of $50..00. I decided to give Conch Krawl a try since it is across the street from where I live. I ordered the conch fritters and an order of cracked conch. The crack conch was nicely fried, not greasey. It was however bland. The conch needed a tad bit of seasoning, salt at least. The conch fritters was ok but the bell pepper pieces were chopped too big and the fritter was doughy with too much flour and very small pieces of conch. Now since I ordered those two little items I was thinking I was going to be in and out in about 10-15 minutes. It took me 45 minutes to get my order!!!!!!!!!! It started with their machine not working properly to accept debit/credit cards. Then the cashier left me waiting to pay for my order for about 10 minutes whilst she dealt with a customer who wasn't happy with her order. After calling her back over and making the payment, my order of cracked conch and no sides and conch fritters took another 35 minutes at least to be completed. Whilst the food I had just ok, the convenience of their business sucks big time. Customers shouldn't have to wait sooooooooo long to place an order or pay or to receive their food. read more

NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME- yet....! Was there today, placed order at 12:02 pm. Waited, waited, its now 12;50 pm. heavy set lady helping- stated she didn't work here, she just helping..."WOW". Once I said something about the duration and orders coming out after mine, she said something to kitchen and they tried to fix my order. I asked for a refund and was shorted on change...it was well after 1 pm.,....REALLY ! * I BELIEVE IN BEING PART OF THE SOLUTION- HELPFUL TIPS FOR ESTABLISHMENT 1. Clock on the North wall for expeditor to see as well as customer. TIME 2. An experienced expeditor. 3. Communication with cashier, kitchen, expeditor ( taking orders, counting fish, needing change etc) 4. Experience in kitchen. Movement was slow and no order. Prep is lacking, despite- cook to order. Souse is ready, get it out quickly. 5. STAFF.... people was sitting at table with no service. Young lady at register could have done more when there is no one at counter ordering. not just sitting there. Weekend brings people, increase staff to compensate. read more

This was my first time trying Conch Krawl and the food was pretty good. My only issue is that the cracked conch could have been a little more tender and the plantains were over cooked. I must say I'm very disappointed! Always seen this place and finally gave it a shot... The experience was not good at all. We waited 15 minutes to order. Then an additional 1 hour for food that we never got. One young lady managing the phones, taking orders, and packing the food. The lady in the kitchen came out while we were waiting (30 mins) and asked what did we order, we thought that meant our food was coming out.... Low and behold.... that wasn't the case! Customers that came and ordered after us was getting their food before us. We asked for a refund and probably will never return back to this establishment. Ordered food today and I am very disappointed but not surprised. Every time we attempt to order we are told they ran out of food. Now maybe someone may not agree but that has not been my experience. Today they ran out and did not call to say no food. Crossed county line on my lunch break and lady said they have no food. I ordered conch salad and curry chicken dish. Conch salad was VERY chewy and had no flavor AT ALL. I returned and they did not offer to compensate or even apologize for inconvenience. Conch Krawl is one of the better Bahamian restaurants I've been to. I had the Snapper and it was so delicious. I have to say that the atmosphere was so inviting and everyone knew everyone! I'd only been there one other time and both Julie & Bella remembered my name. Other customers were walking up, introducing themselves to me and asking where I was from. I really had a taste for cracked conch and conch salad, so I googled places near me and this location popped up. I take the drive over and order the cracked conch and conch salad. I was told that they didn't have conch salad and they only have conch salad on Tuesdays; but today is Tuesday! Anyways, I continued and ordered cracked conch. I was happy because it took about 10 mins to be prepared and then when the girl opened my plate to show me I was even more happy because I received more conch than I expected. The conch was nicely fried; pretty and golden. It came with 2 conch sauces and I asked for limes. When I got in the car I tasted the conch it was very tender but unfortunately it was very bland! I was highly disappointed. I attempted to squeeze the limes on the conch, for a little more flavor, but the limes was so dry nothing came out. The presentation was nice but that's where it stops. I waited for my food for 1 hour and 15 minutes. I was told that it would take about 30 minutes. So I left and came back in 30 minutes but my food still wasn't ready. 1 hour after I ordered I was told they were out of potato salad. I order the conch dinner. Small and super cute inside! Great customer service. The mac and cheese and rice and peas were BLAND and I've had REAL authentic Bahamian food (not tourist food) and know the difference. Those two dishes need some work ASAP. When you take out the fried cracked conch ADD some sprinkle of seasoning. The homemade ice tea was the best ever!! The steamed fish was good. The conch fritters were light and fluffy but lacking conch. Very stingy with the side sauces. I mean the TINY containers are already SMALL so why fill LESS than half the cup? I will come back and try the conch salad, breakfast and souse just to to be fare about this review. Oh and the time I waited was ridiculous. Here's a tip, bring ALL of the food out at once for takeout. Why would you give me my fried item that is going to get cold ONLY to wait 15 MORE minutes for my other meal???
