After some time time away, we visited Conchy Joe's today for lunch and it was fabulous. The view and atmosphere were "Floridian Casual" which inspired us to order a second drink. The food portions and quality were outstanding.... peel shrimp/stone crabs/conch chowder. Waitress recommended their key lime pie and I must admit, it was truly the best we have had in Florida. The rosé was terrible so I switched to a cabernet sauvignon, still disappointed. My son said his mule was pretty good. We had conch fritters as an appetizer. Not bad but nothing amazing either. We both ordered the mahi special with a side of spinach/mushroom/tomato. The mahi was fresh and cooked nicely. The veggies were amazing, fresh and flavorful. A must try. There is a raw bar to order from. It is on display on the way in. The area looked clean and the seafood looked fresh. The view of the water was nice. The Hostess explained upon entering about construction going on, they are expanding. It didn't block any water views from where we sat. There is music on certain nights. I was looking for a place on the water with an island vacation vibe to have dinner. We picked Conchy Joe's and as soon as we stepped out of the car the view of the Indian River was exactly what we ordered. Reinforcing the feeling that we were in the right spot was the Jimmy Buffet blaring as we walked up. Since 1979 Conchy Joes has been serving up food with a tropical flair in the areas first authentic Seminole Indian Chickee Hut and bar. You know you are at a place popular with tourists when they sell T shirts emblazoned with the restaurants name as we found here in abundance at the Conchy Joe's hostess station. I was into playing tourist for a day so that was perfectly fine with me. You can chose to eat at the bar to the left, or in the the two rooms to the right, one with a parking lot view and the other with a view to the water. We were asked if water view was okay and we agreed. What wasn't explained to us and that we found out on the way out was that the room with the parking lot view was having a ladies night with live music, food, and drink specials. If i had known that it probably would have been what we would have chosen. Live and learn. We were seated under the large chickee hut filled with tropical decor. The view of the water was wonderful and I loved watching the birds swoop in and catch their fish. I feel like you have to try the conch from a place called Conchy Joes so I ordered the 8 piece conch fritter appetizer. I also ordered the tropical salad with mango, coconut, and Piña colada dressing. I had a similar salad in the Keys that I loved. My friend had oysters and conch chowder. I enjoyed the conch fritters which had identifiable pieces of conch in them but I should have asked what kind of lettuce they used in the salad. The salad toppings were great but the lettuce was a tough romaine. It should have been used for garnishes not eating. A crisp iceberg would have been much better. My friend found a shell in her oyster that she could have bitten down on and they weren't the size promised although she did enjoy her conch chowder. They kindly comped her oysters without asking. I loved the decor, view, breezes from the water, and tropical atmosphere of Conchy Joe's. It is a place you can feel on vacation for a couple of hours. Next time I would come for the appetizers and cocktails. The view is 5 stars, the food is 3 stars, which averages to a 4 star rating. read more

This place was recommended in my facebook foodie group and also locally by friends. We came here for an early meal with high expectations, but left disappointed. What we got: The happy hour drinks were good, as was my Margherita. Out of two appetizers, the tacos were tasty but the potato skins were just ok. Not a big deal. The table that was seated after us got their appetizers (some the same that we ordered) first, which was mildly annoying because the wait for the food was pretty long. The waiter was going to bring us a sample of the chowder, but that never arrived. For the entres we got something that should be easy to make amazing for a seafood restaurant: fish and chips. Specifically mahimahi. I was excited to eat it but the flavor was overall bland and unseasoned. They seemed very fresh but ultimately flavorless. Considering the prices here, this was very disappointing. The score takes into account the service, flavor experience, and price. I have eaten better for less in other seafood places nearby, and so cannot give more stars. Maybe this experience was a fluke, but overall it was not a good dinner. If we ever try here again, hopefully our experience is better. We ate less than half our food and asked for the check. The whole experience without finishing our meal took over 2 hours. read more

We were seated on a filthy outdoor porch, it was raining and the hostess had to check 3 of the tables before she found a dry one. It took our server 12 minutes to wander out to us. He made a point of commenting that he didn't like working on the porch in the rain because tips are low and everything leaks. He delivered items 2 at a time, but there were 4 of us at the table; it was awkward. The idea of a serving tray was foreign to him. After the chowders were delivered it took him more than 5 minutes to find the bottle of sherry to go with them. The bottle that arrived was greasy and dirty. My in-laws ordered tacos which they said enjoyed. I ordered conch stuffed shrimp. They were absolute rubber, the yellow rice was lukewarm reheated dried out white rice with a chunk of butter on it. Our waiter was nowhere to be seen throughout the meal. It's a seafood place that does not serve well prepared seafood. Skip it. read more

I will start with my one only complaint, the service. They were not rude at all, very friendly actually. But incredibly forgetful unfortunately. But it is most definitely still worth going despite that. Now let me start with the ambiance it's nice and causal nothing you necessary have to dress up for, they have so so much space and the out door seating is shelled in where you don't necessarily feel all the heat and humidity but still get the gorgeous view of the water. They also sell t-shirts I thought were super cute, and after eating there amazing food you'll definitely want to purchase one. On word with the food, we tried a large variety, seafood dip 10/10 a little small but most dips are. The conch fritters absolutely stunning gorgeous outside great taste and texture, served with the best sauce. On to the entrees I personally had the Caesar with coconut shrimp, the Cesar is more lemon then fishy if you are a Cesar person. But I still thoroughly enjoyed and I was completely stuffed after half the salad huge portions! read more

I ordered the three courses (app, entree, dessert) for $40. I chose the shrimp over scallps risotto. I've had this risotto dish before and loved it. Unfortunately, the portion in the $40 "deal" is much much smaller than the normal entree, which was disappointing. It looked like a lunch size portion. The app wasn't much either. I chose the crab cake, which like the risotto, was a small portion. I was still hungry after eating Very misleading. So its not really a deal if its smaller, in my mind. I mentioned it to the waitress, and she said its because it includes an app and dessert. I was unsatisfied with her answer. Started with snow crab. No cracker or crab fork. Dinner was served before we finished the crab (due to lack of cracker.). The salmon was quite fresh and tasty. The sauce was good but quite sweet. I feel there was too much sauce added to the dish and felt it overpowered the fresh fish. I didn't care for the teaspoonful of whole peppercorns added on top. I would have preferred a slight pepper taste in the sauce rather than covering the fish. The Caesar salad was disappointing and not at all like a true Caesar dressing. Service was very good. As for ambiance, nothing fancy. Laid back and pleasant with a lovely water view. I would definitely go back for the fresh fish. read more
