This review is long overdue. I started my fitness journey 6 years ago and I've been in and out of various gyms depending on where I live and where I work. I have to say out of all the gyms I've been to: FBBC, UFC, Planet Fitness, The Camp, and many other local family owned gyms, Concord fitness boot camp aka Fit Body Boot Camp concord has been the absolute best! I lost weight but the change was not just in appearance. I actually felt stronger and could notice the difference in my strength. My energy and endurance was like my teen days. The crazy part is appearance wise this gym has been the least impressive. But Virgil makes the small space functional and you really don't need much more than this. When I showed up for my first trial the location made me hesitant. Virgil's customer service was great and he made me feel welcomed. The other members were friendly and there were all ages and body types. I stayed and loved it. Everyone was extremely helpful and motivating. They all push you to finish your reps, to keep moving and not quit, and if you struggle they make you feel okay with modifying while teaching you ways to work on it until you can one day do what you're struggling with. It was hard but it seemed like within days my body learned how to handle doing sit ups and push ups. Another major part is nutrition. Virgil helped me with a shopping list and meal ideas. He is respectful but also doesn't sugar coat. With each weigh in he reminded me what I needed to do to stay on track. I also learned how to count calories. If I still lived in the area I would see about joining again. If I didn't give it 5 stars it is solely because of the cost. When I went it cost around by $300/month. Is it worth it? Yes. Came here for my first Bootcamp class via ClassPass. When I arrived, I wasn't sure if the place was actually open for business because it was boarded up on the windows. With reassurance from the owner (whose phone number was on Google), it was indeed open for business, I was excited to get moving for my Friday workout. I was introduced to the owner and other people who showed up for the class and I could tell they were regulars. The place looked pretty legit as you know I love legit gyms :-) I was asked to disinfect the bottom of my shoes as street shoes aren't allowed on the floor, since we laid on them for floor workouts. That made me feel better because I ain't tryna rest my head on a floor where people before me don't know where to walk sometimes and you don't know where they come from ahem, SF CITY STREETS!!! This was my first Bootcamp class in a long while so I was pretty thankful that Virgil (owner and trainer) allowed me to modify my workouts. Accountability, acceptance and results Executive Summary: Get serious about your health in a safe, welcoming environment. It's changed my life. Long version: Gained 35+ lbs. in the 2.5 years I've been seeing my fiancé (yes, she makes me very happy). But my suits don't fit, I'm woefully out of shape. Blood pressure meds, winded going up stairs, everything you can imagine. January 6th - time to get serious. I can't do this on my own. Because of Yelp! I find and join CFBB. First workout - wow this is hard. I'm out of breath from the first five minutes, getting a little lightheaded, dizzy, seeing dead relatives...Auntie? Is that you? But I keep coming back, and every session is just a tad easier (6 days a week, they offer several sessions at regular times throughout the day). And there is absolutely no judgement in this place. I do my best, I do what I can, and the session goes on. Seven weeks later, I've lost over 8 pounds. More importantly...I'm off BP meds. I'm 137/87 on no meds. In only seven weeks. More detail: Yes, I've also cleaned up my diet. After Christmas I swept the pantry clean, committed to trying to eat healthy. I'm far from perfect, and there have been mornings I simply didn't make it to CFBB. But Virgil and staff have ALWAYS been warm, welcoming, encouraging - while also providing the accountability I need to stay committed to this new path. My results? This past June, I was a spectator at a Spartan race event and I was inspired by all the women, men and children of all different ages and sizes who participated in the race. I became motivated and needed to find a workout program that could help me lose weight, tone up, feel stronger mentally and physically and to help me prepare for a Spartan race next year. The night I came home from the Spartan event, I saw a video posting from Trainer Virgil of the same Spartan event I attended. I commented on his post showing interest in his class and immediately received a response. The next day I joined his class and began my fitness journey at Concord Fit Body Boot Camp (CFBBC). At CFBBC, they teach High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). It's only 30 minutes long and at times the trainer will stretch it an additional 10 minutes for added fun (lol). In the beginning of my training, I started taking the class 3 days a week and slowly progressed to 5 days a week. Each day you'll expect a variation of workout routines to focus on different muscle groups so that your muscles can recover from the previous day workout. So here I stand 4 months later stronger than ever and feeling accomplished to complete my first Spartan race, the "BEAST" on October 20, 2018 in Lebec, CA. It was 13 miles long with 30-35 obstacles. I would've never survived if I didn't condition my body well through CFBBC nor had experienced Spartan participants at my side guiding me through the courses. This place is great! Friendly, motivating, encouraging and best of all, effective! I was doing alright getting fit at home but hit a 3-month plateau. Walking home from the grocery store, I passed Cecilio Fitness & Concord Fit Body Boot Camp, and had to peek in. The class looked kind of tough, but everyone was very welcoming and encouraging right away. I hesitated to sign up because I'm not a fan of early mornings but getting my workout in first thing has made the rest of my day way more productive. I already have more energy, better posture, and I actually WANT to go to the gym at 6am! Virgil and the other trainers are really motivating and easy to talk to. They make you feel like you can do anything they put in front of you. Even the other gym members have gladly helped me with my form and getting into the rhythm of the sessions. I also like that there are all levels of fitness represented here, so I never feel intimidated, or on the other hand like it's not challenging enough. Whatever level your at, you do what you can, and watch yourself get better and better each time. I was on the fence, so I really appreciated being able to drop in and try a session before committing. I had a blast! At 42, I didn't expect miracles, but I am very happy so far! My weight hasn't changed too much yet, but my body has. I've lost significant fat and added a lot of muscle, and I'm loosing inches! My husband and I eat according to 4-Hour Body guidelines (minus the allowed nightly red wine), and I weigh in the same time of day every day. For consistency's sake, I weigh in daily at the same time on the same scale at home. Results day 1! I left my first CFBBC workout remembering what it's like to be strong, something I hadn't felt in the two years that I'd put on 30 lbs. 2 weeks in I had a physical and the nurse doing my vitals asked if I'm a runner (no), because my resting heart rate was so low. That was the second sign that I was in the right place to get me back into shape. I thought I was joining the "little gym" down the street. I ended up joining a group of welcoming people of all fitness levels, all sizes, colors, shapes. When they say a fitness family, it's true. When you see the same people every day, all working toward the same goals, it's easy to make friends. At CFBBC no one watches you, judges you, cares about your outfit or hair, that you're sweating profusely or are lifting 'til you grunt. Everyone goes at their own pace and everyone's pace changes day to day. On my best days I'm pushing out one or two more reps than the lifer next to me. So even those that have been there for years have less great days. People are encouraging and supportive. And it just feels very equal. Most importantly, I have the best trainer, motivator and coach there to support me. As said in all the other reviews, there's just nothing like having Virgil cheering you on. He honestly believes in every person who walks through the door. He knows every person by name. That type of personal consideration just feels great when you're working your butt off. If you're looking for a great workout with a trainer that doesn't give up on you, then this is the place for you. I was over the gym atmosphere and the same repetitive workout routine. Around the summer of 2019, I found this studio on Yelp and decided to attend a session with Virgil. He was very welcoming and super helpful during my first session. We discussed my health/fitness goals and a plan for me to stay consistent with my workout routine. It was a struggle in the beginning because I haven't had a solid workout in years. Overtime with consistency, I gradually became used to the workout routine and have seen such a difference in my overall physical and mental health. Based on my past experiences with trainers, Virgil has exceeded my expectations. He holds you accountable and is involved in your health/fitness journey. Even in my moments, where I slacked off, he checked in on me on a regular basis to get me back on track, which I definitely need. Don't believe the hype here. Not sure how this establishment gets a 5star rating. The trainer has taken advantage of client insecurities for personal gain.. Shady business . Husbands beware. Unsanitary environment, you workout on carpet, people lay down dripping in sweat, weights and equipment used are not sanitized after each class, the back office is unorganized, poor ventilation. There is no shower. There are better , cleaner gyms out there. And he over charges if you don't know any better. He'll tell you he has the best rate in town but really it the same price with much less amenities. read more

Love this place!! So I was originally a member of Dublin FBBC and Clayton FBBC and I can't believe I wasted all that time with those gyms because the concord one completely blows my mind! The work outs are intense and high paced every single day and you actually leave feeling like u did a work out. Usually at the other FBBCs I would have to do two sessions to feel anything. I just recently visited one of the old ones and didn't even break a sweat after the work out and can not wait to get back to concord tomorrow for my real work out session. The previous boot camp I enjoyed attending, for unfortunate reasons, are no longer around. After receiving a referral to CFBBC, I was a bit hesitant but had to check it out to see if Virgil was as good as everyone was saying... He exceeded my expectations! After the first session at CFBBC, it was evident that Virgil is not only great at what he does but is extremely passionate about training. He is highly motivated, pushing you to your limit to ensure you're making the most of your workout. He pays attention to every detail of your form... And does not let you get away with it (which means less susceptibility to injury and forces your overall body to work harder). It's like having your own personal trainer! He is very patient with taking the time to explain correct form and does not judge! 5 years ago I was 50 pounds overweight as I approached my 50th birthday. I had some medical issues due to the weight. My wife got a groupon for a bootcamp in town which I attended until I found Concord Fit Body Bootcamp. I lost 50 pounds and I am now almost 55 years old. The past three years, I have been running Spartan Races. I was able to finish the Spartan Trifecta in 2017 and 2018. My doctor is amazed at the transformation that has occurred and said that I "have the heart of an athlete." Virgil is an incredible trainer. He is patient and can show you how to modify the move if you are a beginner. He focuses on form to avoid injuries. He does a great job of balancing between helping you and motivating you to get better. Over the past 5 years I have seen him work with all types of people and he has done a great job. In fact, I have had my son and daughter start coming to get fit. The other thing I appreciate is the aerobics mat that we work out on. I have knee issues from playing quite a bit of basketball when I was younger. The aerobics mat has quite a bit of give and helps my knees not hurt after the exercise. The workouts are high energy. The people at the bootcamp are warm and caring. I now call many of them friends. When a new person comes in, people ensure that the new person is helped during the session and feel welcome. This is an incredible community that supports all members. They encourage you if you have trouble and are there to celebrate the successes with you. I am extremely grateful that I met Virgil 5 years ago. I have an incredible amount of respect for him as a trainer and a family man. Over the last 5 years, he has been there for me whenever I needed help with my diet, workout, or any other health issue. If I had not found a Concord Fit Body Bootcamp, I might not be here right now for my kids. I plan to continue to work out here until I grow so old that I can't work out. So this is my first impression review. I use to go to P2P. & like I've said before on Yelp that is a great Gym. I did their 20 in 6 challenge and that is something I don't recommend to anyone. I stopped going a year ago and since then I have been looking for a gym as great as theirs and so far it seems I've finally found it. I called the gym the day I found them on Yelp and Virgil who I believe is the owner called me personally and was on the phone with him for 30 mins. He even got me to come in and workout the very next day! The next day that I came in he of course had me fill out paperwork and took my weight and body fat percentage. And since then he had followed up with me. It's been now about two weeks since I got started there and every time I don't show up Virgil messages me on Facebook to ask why. That is something that has sold me. I've gained weight because I couldn't hold myself accountable for my actions so the fact that he keeps me accountable is great. Also during the workouts he and the other trainers I've met so far watch you and make sure you are practicing good form. The classes are small so that helps keep things personal. I have signed up for their year membership with a meal plan. I will follow it and update this review in a month or two after I can really form a judgement. read more

Where do i even start... Well to put it simply this place made me realize there's more to working out than just lifting a bunch of heavy plates and running around. I'm a cynical person in general and quite familiar with the health industry. Coming in i already knew the workouts were gonna be intense and with it comes the exhiliration that we often associate with a "good" workout. My cynisisms were quickly quelled during the workout when I saw how passionate the trainer (Virgil) was. Addressing his clients with their first names, encouraging them and pushing them to their safe limits. It was gut busting and awe inspiring at the same time that it quickly drew me in to the experience. It was only a matter of time before the results started coming in...gradually and naturally. So my goal for this bootcamp was to shred some weight for my summer trips. Trainer Virgil put me on a meal plan and motivated me throughout all of these high intensity workouts. Some trainers only tell you what to do but Virgil actually works out with you and pushes you to your last bit of energy so you can really see end results. Started at 210 and ended at like 190 in less than a couple of months. What really stood out to me was the amount of body fat % I cut and the amount of muscle I retained. He was texting me to make sure I was okay after the first class but when I told him I was going to join a gym that need childcare he never responded or said good luck or anything. I've been attending classes with Virgil for the last 3 weeks and I love it!! Small classes, so you get attention, the place is clean, and the energy is great! Being a college student, finding a place that offers quick (yet killer) workouts that kick start my day and work with my schedule worked out perfectly here. Prior to bootcamp, i did cheerleading years ago, so i was afraid of how I'd do since these workouts are high intensity. However, if you're looking to improve stamina, this workout is perfect. My problem is giving up, being lazy, and running out of breath easily, but all of this has improved in the few sessions I've done so far! I was looking to maintain my FBBC workout while on vacation in CA. I was so happy to discover a FBBC a few miles from my Dad's house. What can I say........Virgil is a beast. I did get a little spoiled though. His workouts are LONGER than the regular 30 minutes which I loved (as crazy as it sounds). I felt stronger when I left!! This gym is a hidden gem in concord. Initially I was working out at P2P but they weren't too eager to have me sign up, despite my willingness to even sign a contract. Anyway, through a friend I found out about this bootcamp and I feel like my friend gave me the winning lotto ticket! This place is great! It will definitely kick your butt, but in a good way. Classes are small enough so that we get a lot of attention from Virgil who keeps a close eye on our form. We have fun the whole time, despite the fact that we are seriously being pushed. From the first class I had I knew that the ambiance is unlike any other gym out there. Virgil is a wonderful owner and takes a lot of care to make the place great. Concord Fit Body Boot Camp (CFBBC) opened in November of this year. It was perfect timing for me since my boot camp I had been training with for the past year and a half abruptly closed its doors. When I first met Virgil prior to joining CFBBC, I knew it was going to be a great fit for me. My first session at CFBBC kicked my butt....in a good way, and continues to challenge me every time I walk through the door. Virgil is an awesome trainer and is truly dedicated to each and every one of his clients. He pushes you to maximize your workouts while using good form to prevent injury and get great results. The studio is small but Virgil has it set up in a way that it never feels overcrowded. I wish I knew about this gym before, but I'm very glad that I have found it! I have been going here for a month now and enjoyed every single session. I injured myself from CrossFit, missed a few months of work out. So I started to look for something that would be give me a good workout without adding more stress to my injury, and here I am - getting back into my fitness with the most awesome morning crew and coach, Virgil! First let me say hands down this is the best boot camp I have ever been too!! The trainer is amazing you can see his passion and love for fitness and helping people meet their goals! I have been going for 6months now and it hasn't been an easy road but Virgil has been there for me helping me thru more important not giving up on me. I've been coming here since January, i got to a weight I didn't want to be! My friend Shannon kept bugging me to try out her gym maybe months prior to me finally deciding to join the team. So one day I finally said " I do not want to be this weight anymore so it is time to make a change." I went in the next day and did a session to see if I liked it. And I LOVED it! Of course it was gonna be hard the first couple weeks I knew what I was getting into. Everyday I get excited to go to this gym because I walk in there ready to burn calories. I give it my all every time. I now use weights that even some of the men use. I am currently down 20lbs and feeling great I look in the mirror everyday and feel comfortable in my own skin and it makes me happy and confident to know that I did this. Of course I have more weight I want to loose and I plan on keeping it going and get to where i wanna be. I definitely encourage everyone to check this place out! It is life changing and Virgil (the trainer) is amazing he will push u to ur limit! He wants u to get to where u wanna be and if u ask he will do everything u need for you to achieve your goals. I've been going to Concord Fit Body Bootcamp for over a month know and have enjoyed every minute of it. I've recommended the gym to a bunch of my friends and family, and stand by my word. They're great workouts that are not only time efficient but effective. The best selling point is probably the trainer, Virgil. He works very hard at giving you quality workouts, making sure your form is correct, and pushing you to do your best without being annoying or pushy. He works with you to make sure your goals are progressing and that you are doing your best. This is the place you need to be if you want to get in shape! If you commit and go regularly - there is no way you won't get fit. The workouts are high intensity and high reward. I have been going ~3x per week for over a year, but I still recall the natural high I felt after the first workout. The workouts challenge your whole body whether you are just beginning or have been going for some time. Virgil, the owner, is high energy and super supportive; the ~40 minute workouts go by quickly and they are at convenient times before and after work hours. I've been coming to CFBBC for 3 months now and am so happy I walked through that door. It's clean, super friendly, non-judgmental, motivating and Virgil's enthusiasm is contagious! I've tried standard gyms in the past but I fizzled out, probably because there was no accountability and little guidance. This place is just what I needed. I know when I come in, I'll get a well-rounded, high calorie-burning workout and I don't have to think about it. I just show up, work hard and leave happy. There are new people all the time but the most impressive thing to me are all the folks who have been coming here for years. That's saying something. And they're willing to help out the newbies, too.
