We have bought birthday cakes from Concord Teacakes, and they were great. This is why I was so surprised and disappointed when we stopped in for Valentine's Day for a treat. We bought 6 cookies for $15....this place is generally pricey, so that wasn't the issue. The cookies were horrible. We bought 3 different kinds, and they all tasted old and like they have been frozen for months. I understand Valentine's Day is probably busy, but don't sell old gross items (for$15!!) just because you can. I would have preferred some packaged cookies compared to these. My whole family disliked them, and we just ended up throwing them in the garbage. Very disappointed! read more

I love that it's locally owned and operated, I love that everything is made by the actual store (and not shipped in from elsewhere), and I love that everything I try is delicious: scones, muffins, croissants, breakfast sandwiches... Really cute bakery. We went to buy a teacake as a birthday cake ($15.95), and then had to add on a cute children's cookie (they have tons of cute decorated cookies - from Elmo to a pumpkin to a Dr. Seuss hat, etc), and an Apple Pecan Coffee cake (delicious). We didn't buy them this time, but they have lots of assorted cupcakes as well - today they had Go Sox and Go Pats on some of them. read more

Cute place! Thats all! Nope just kidding. I had ginger peach iced tea which was tasty and a lemon macaroon which flipping was pretty rockin! It was a macaroon, with a lemony frosting dipped in something hard and lemon and yum! Also, it was like $3 total for both the tea and the cookie which I find to be very reasonable. OMG! The cookies here are AMAZING! I bought an assortment of shortbread cookies. They were out of this world. The decorate cookies were the sweetest decorated cookies I have ever seen and taste just as delicious. I was actually amazed to see how absolutely ingenious they were to dress up shortbread cookies. Such a relief to have a legit non-fakey ingredients real cake shop in town! I make up any reason I can to get something there. If I have people coming over, I make an excuse to go here for their mini-cupcakes. I've had their full size cupcakes, but they are so frosting heavy that they've toppled on me while I've eaten them! Their Coffee: Not bad. Their Cakes: Really good! Their other baked goods: Like the lemon sandwich biscuit, or the pistachio shortbread, the coconut chocolate macaroons! Absolutely Addictive and utterly dangerous!!! There should be a health warning attached to these items because once you have them you will be back for them again and again. I haven't tried their breakfast sandwiches yet, but their regular sandwiches such as the egg salad are just so delicious and fresh. Even though they are a big pricey I just can't stop buying them, they are totally worth it to me. So, why 4 stars? Well, they have a lot of younger people working the cash register here and while they are all very nice and pleasant they have made a mistake with my order on 3 occasions now. Not a huge deal because what they ended up giving me was pretty tasty but the shop isn't that busy and the prices are high enough that I would like to receive what i pay for. I work at Emerson Hospital and our patients gift us the lovely cupcakes and brownies from Concord Teacakes and boy do we love them! My coworker always puts aside a few pieces for me because I don't start until 3pm. If she didn't do that, they would be gone before I could have some. I finally introduced my daughter and husband to them and now my daughter asks for cupcakes a few times a month. I'm lucky we only live 20 min away. My favorite cupcake is the salted caramel and my favorite brownie is the one with the green icing. I thought it might be mint, but I don't taste the mint. That's good if you don't want a strong mint flavor. My hubby likes any of the standard ones, but don't be fooled, they aren't standard by any stretch of the imagination, they are delicious! My family has been going to Concord Teacakes for years! During that time we have never been disappointed with the design of the cake or flavor. The lemon raspberry cake is amazing and so are the current scones! This time our birthday cake was not the best. We ordered the mocha madness cake, and requested it to be a gold. The cake did not turn out as gold but we didn't know at the time.We have not yet tasted the cake but hopefully it will taste better than it looks. I was so excited to find Concord Teacakes and order a cake from there for my child's first birthday. After all, the reviews were great. The ordering process was fine. The person I worked with didn't seem too informed about cake and design options and kept going in the back to find out the answers to my questions. But it wasn't a huge deal. What was a huge deal is that the cake design did not look at all like I requested. I left an invitation there for them to match the color and the icon. When I saw the cake I was shocked at how off the color was. I was not expecting a perfect match but I was rightfully disappointed that it was somehow mint green while my invitation and ALL of my party decorations were sky blue. It was not even close. And, the design was wrong. I requested a couple different aspects of the design and I did not get them. What was most disappointing was my resulting phone call to the bakery. An hour before my party, I made time to call because I was so surprised and upset by how the cake looked. I explained the problem and the woman seemed to understand what I wanted and how it was not the same as what I got. But there was no apology. It was suggested that I could drive 30 minutes each way to have them strip the frosting off the cake and re-frost and decorate it, but that was not an option. It seemed strange to me that she acknowledged the confusion on their end (apparently the girl did not include as much detail on the order form as she should have, although I still don't know what happened to the color) but she did not apologize or try to encourage me to give them a second chance. When I looked at the photos from the (in my mind) adorable birthday party, and immediately noticed the mint green cake among sky blue balloons, banners, and various paper goods, it confirmed that there will be no second chance. Ordered a cake and payed last Saturday. Paid almost $50 for a cake. Told to come Thursday at 2 pm to pick up. Arrived at 3. Apparently the cake was lost, they "sold" me a story that the driver slipped on the ice with the cake and they are making a new one. I asked, when did that happen, they answered just now. There are both good things and bad things about Teacakes. The gingerbreads and scones are very good, yet the brownies are overly sweet and the cakes are variable. The premade meals and sandwiches are good but a bit high-priced. The staff is very friendly but seem a bit disorganized/rushed. My now-wife and I stumbled on Concord Teacakes one Saturday this past winter when we were early for a pre-marital appointment with a clergywoman who lives nearby. We popped in for a bit of caffeine and maybe a hostess gift, and found they had slices of cupcake out for sampling. We each had a nibble of a vanilla cupcake with maple buttercream... and I solemnly promise, it was the best cupcake either of us had ever eaten up to that point. Better even than Frosting in DC (subject of a superlative Yelp from me.) Such fresh flavorings! Such perfectly moist-but-not-squishy texture! Such a good cake/frosting ratio! Such divine buttercream! We took one of their "occasion cakes" flyers then and there, and returned a couple months later for a tasting. The staff were so kind and attentive, and helped us design the cake of our dreams: one layer chocolate, one layer vanilla, filled with seedless raspberry jam and topped with vanilla buttercream. We got a round cake for cutting (decorated with purple forget-me-nots in buttercream) and a full sheet cake for additional serving, and it was a huge hit with our guests. read more

Horrible Customer Service! I drove by the place on Sunday (Father's Day) needing to pick up a small cake. I noticed some patrons in the bakery so I assumed it was open. Needless to say I walked in asked if I could pick up a small cake, the person working there told me that they closed at 1pm. Really? It was only 5 minutes after 1pm. She refused to help me and demanded that they were closed. Not only will I never go back there but my daughter lives in town and she will never go there either.
