Updated 2/8/17 - Weekday staff are great as always. Again no one can argue about the quality of croissants. I have been going to this place since 2008. Moving to 4 stars to be fair. No one can argue about the quality of croissants in this place, however this review is about the customer service. My cousin recomended Concord Teacakes to me. I needed to get a cake for my husbands 5oth birthday. It was the most amayzing cake. I told them what I wanted on the cake and they exceeded my expactations. Everyone at the party wanted to know where I had it made. Not only did it look good but it taste even better. I saw a review about their cupcakes a few weeks ago...I have been reminding myself to stop and try them, and I finally managed to make my way to west concord center. I entered the market and took a quick look around and saw that they also sell prepared sandwiches, meals and salads - reasonably priced for the area. I then perused the bakery case and saw a variety of cupcakes - there are two sizes, I ordered a mini vanilla and a mini chocolate with vanilla. I brought them home and left them at room temperature - i don't enjoy eating them cold. the all vanilla was good, moist and deilcate, frosting was not too sweet and creamy. The chocolate was a little dry, a decent chocolate flavor and same buttercream. I think that for each cupcake cost about $1.25 - fair, they are two bites. A great size for little kids or people who are mindful or their portions. I recommend that you opt for the mini or large vanilla cakes, other than that I will update after my next visit read more

This has always been my favorite bakery in the area. They have very cute cakes and cupcakes that are creatively decorated (not to mention delicious!) They also have coffee, tea, etc. But it's really the baked goods that I think has people coming back for more. The scones are great too. Oh, and if you decide to get a birthday/celebration cake of any kind and you want them to custom make it just for you-- just ask! They'll make whatever you want and do a great job! read more

I adore their special occasion cakes. They are expensive but are worth every penny when taste and presentation are absolutely de riguer for one's special occasion. The order needs to be placed about 7 days before the day needed by 5pm, but probably needing a longer lead time for tiered wedding cakes. Diane must practically be on the phone all day, as she is always calling back people who are looking to place their orders. She was very patient with me, both times I called, when I asked for particulars on what I wanted on my cake, and the second time when she returned my call to change some details. When looking for a delicious treat I head over to Concord Teacakes and select an assortment of devine morsels. One of my favorite treats are the chocolate chip brownies and the mint frosted brownies. Seriously decadent! Teacakes also serve a variety of coffee cakes, bundt cakes, and a moist and delicious cream cheese frosted carrot cake. I have never been dissapointed by their baked goods. One of my two favorite bakeries in the area, they are most famous in the area for their creative special occasion cakes. My dad is a huge fan of the show Jeopardy, and when I asked the custom bakery to work this into the decorating of a birthday cake, they were enthusiastic and had fun with the idea, creating exactly what I had in mind. You can call to have them make one for you, or if you need a good cake last minute they have quite a few of their specialties available in the store. Their lemon cake has the right lemony zest. So good I've ordered it for two separate occasions. Their carrot cake has a black walnut flavor to it. They also have the best brownies around, chewy walnut brownies and minty good ones too. Searching for a place to get my daughter a Sleeping Beauty cake, I came across the Concord Teacakes website. The photos of the doll cakes on the website are cute, but DO NOT compare to what you will see when you pick up the cake in person. I was blown away by how perfect the cake was. Some tips if you want to order a doll cake. Go in person and maybe even bring your daughter with you at least a week before you will need the cake. When you get there, let them know that you would like to order a doll cake. They will show you photos of the various doll cake options and ask your daughter to choose 3 colors to incorporate into the dress and cupcakes. For my daughter's cake, the doll dress was pink and the cupcakes were dark pink, light pink, white and purple, with some light blue accents here and there. The doll cake and 18 mini cupcakes was enough to feed around 15-20 people. The cost was around $60, more than worth it for the reaction on my daughter's face. Not to mention the cake and icing were delicious, perfectly moist cake, just YUM! read more

Always fabulous! We've lived in Concord since 2009 and Concord Teacakes is hands-down the best bakery for miles. We order birthday cakes and cupcakes every year for every party we host (they are artists!) and it's always a pleasure to deal with the staff who goes out of their way to make special events extra special. We also pickup cookies, macaroons, and lots of other goodies on a regular basis. The croissants and Oreo cupcakes are amazing!!! My son has severe nut allergies and although they use nuts in the kitchen, they are super careful about cross contact on a daily basis and our special orders have always yielded a delicious and safe treats. Such an adorable place! Many flavors of hot and iced coffee- hot sizes are perfect, but do not order the large iced coffee, it's 32oz!! Absolutely scrumptious baked goods. Fresh-baked scones, muffins, and croissants in the mornings. Apple pecan muffin, blueberry muffin, cinnamon scone, and chocolate croissants are beyond delicious. Such a treat!! Always have brownies/bars/cookies/cupcakes available in a refrigerated case. In my opinion it's a little too cold, so buy it and wait 15 minutes or so to eat it. Still, delicious!! Have a 'Good to go' section as well- sandwiches, quiches, salads, entrees. Good home cooking, but a bit expensive. Help is friendly, amiable, and knowledgeable. There's not too much to get wrong. Concord Teacakes did my son's 3rd birthday cake which was in the theme of Disney's Cars - it looked just like Lightning McQueen with so many small details. I truly hate to write this review because we have been so happy with Concord Teacakes in the past. The people are always lovely and the Chocolate Trilogy Cake is absolute heaven. But we had a Buche de Noel this year that was a little disappointing. The buttercream frosting was not dark chocolate and the chocolate ganache filling was dense, not lovely and light like the Trilogy's filling. The appearance wasn't as appealing as we might have hoped, with a very cheap looking holly decoration on the top. Still, we'll be back for the Trilogy cake, but I think the Buche needs work. read more

Food was overpriced and not very good. A charming shop, nicely decorated and obviously used by locals a lot, but for my money a rip off. I had a chocolate cupcake sort of thing that was mediocre although the frosting was good. DH had something else which he liked. Neither of us thought the food was worth what we paid.for it. Would I go back? Yes, but knowing that what I'm paying for is ambiance and "charm" rather than premium food, so I'd probably just get a drink. read more

Teacakes gets touted as the best cafe/bakery in Concord, I think because it's "cutesy." But there are definitely at least two much higher quality bakeries in Concord. I love their cupcakes though, and some of the cookies you can't really get anywhere else. Coffee isn't great. Some of the staff are excellent, and a couple are rude beyond comprehension - on a consistent basis. Going to teacakes can either be a really pleasant experience, or really excruciating if certain staff are working. They can be very impatient, even when there is no line (and I am a speedy order-er!). If they have to ask you questions about your order, i.e. What type of milk, they ask it in a very loud, frustrated way. I overheard one staff member tell a woman they didn't make the birthday cake she ordered, because she didn't tell her name when placing the order over the phone. The woman was very polite, but confused, because this particular staff member never asked for her name during the call. Instead of apologizing, the staff member belligerently insisted it was the woman's fault. I went in earlier this week, and was made to feel like I was imposing on them for ordering coffee and a croissant. It's almost like being at one of those restaurants where the servers are intentionally rude to you for entertainment purposes. But I'm pretty sure that's not what teacakes is going for. read more

I ordered a cake here for my child's birthday. I was told the price and given a receipt. When I returned a week later to pick up the cake I was charged $20 extra for the "custom design". The employee who took my order did not mention there was a charge for this, nor did she include it on my order form or receipt. I complained and was told that was the charge - basically take it or leave it. I insisted that this was not included on my receipt and I was not informed of this charge. I was then told that "we have no way of knowing if you were told about the design charge or not" - essentially calling me a liar. They eventually split the difference and only charged me $10 extra but I found them rude and offensive in their treatment of me. I basically was expected to, and did, pay for their employee's mistake. They told me I could refuse the cake, but who is going to refuse their child's birthday cake the day before they need it. They had me between a rock and hard place and they knew it. They took complete advantage of that. I haven't even tasted the cake yet, but I'll never go back. An employee mistake shouldn't become my problem - Basic Good Business Practices 101. Update: the cake was not that great, and tiny for the outrageous price. read more

Very disappointed. I've observed that service is great if you are a regular customer. For those of us who come in once or twice a month, they are indifferent, bordering on rude. We usually buy a mixed box of pastries and cookies. And quite often, half are okay and the others taste dry and old. But the last time we were there, nothing we bought was edible. I ordered my mom's 65th b-day cake from Concord Teacakes (CT) after having a disaster encounter w/ Konditor-Meister. I was afraid I didn't have enough time after canceling my cake order from the other bakery. When I called they welcomed me to sit down to assist designing the perfect birthday cake for my mom. CT was very flexible and they had great suggestions. The cake was a big part that made my mom's 65th birthday party a special and memorable one. One thing I requested was to have the raspberry filling w/out seeds because the guests (and my mom) couldn't digest the seeds. They said it was common bakery practice to remove the seeds. The cake was so beautiful and everyone commented how beautiful it was! We were impressed w/ the taste- it was very moist and the combo fillings made it the perfect touch. Concord Teacakes was a little pricey. But, it was well worth every bite! I highly recommend Concord Teacakes for those who need a birthday or wedding cake. You won't regret it!!! read more

Being a local Concordian, but really grew up in Cambridge, this type of shop (bakery/coffee/sandwich) is so needed. Why would anyone consider DD's when this is so easy to get to? The coffee is very good and always fresh and make mind Mark's Blend. I've been coming in so long they have it ready for me. The bakes are wonderful and my office staff can't wait for muffins which are baked fresh each AM and the scones. Now, of Scottish heritage I know a good scone. This is a good scone. What's really good is you can get little ones and not feel so guilty about the butter overdose. The cooler is filled with delectable sandwiches salads etc that you can grab for lunch on the way out in the early AM. Teacakes is just across the street from the train stop and it's a madhouse around that time and when school get's in. Staff is super friendly and appreciate your business. Carol and Marilyn have been there forever and well I miss Mary. Yea prices are a touch high but it's fresh it isn't DD's and everyone speaks English. read more
