Short story is that I paid $160 for a diagnosis, the "Sales Adviser" (how about "service" rather…read morethan "sales") recommended something for $2k that was unnecessary - no thanks - problem not resolved, and wanted another $100 for further diagnosis - no thanks. The long story is engine misfiring, paid $160 for diagnosis. Kink in the vacuum hose (couldn't have taken too long to spot), but "Sales Advisor" recommends I also replace all ignition coils for $2k. What? Huh? Are they bad? They don't know, they only checked one of them and it was fine, but what's $2k, right? No thanks, I'll pass on that "sale". Replaced vacuum hose for another $300. But one cylinder is still misfiring. They want another $100 for further diagnosis. I expected that the $160 (not a cheap diagnosis price) would cover a full diagnosis, not a first pass diagnosis. I declined. I'd rather take my car to a place that does what is agreed upon and doesn't have a "Sales Adviser" who tries to sell me unnecessary things.

I had my car towed here from another shop on 11/5/2025 with a prior diagnosis suggesting a…read moretransmission-related issue. The previous shop does not work on transmissions, only engine and inspection work. I chose KS Automotive because they advertised free diagnostics, had positive reviews, and were listed as an AAA-certified repair facility. I later learned many of the positive reviews were for a previous owner. The business was sold to the current owner, Jimmy, about two years ago. My transmission diagnostic appointment was scheduled for 11/8. I received no communication that day. On 11/10, I was told that no noise could be heard and that the shop had "no idea what could be wrong." An oil change was suggested but never performed. No written findings, estimates, or diagnostics were provided. I followed up again the next day and confirmed the transmission had still not been evaluated. Over the next 20 days, no written diagnosis or physical documentation was ever produced to show that an issue of any kind had been identified. Diagnostics were repeatedly delayed until a specific technician (Kyle, who only works limited Saturdays) was available. Phone communication was inconsistent. I was left without my vehicle, without answers, and without updates for most of this time. My vehicle remained at the shop for 24 days with no written estimate, no written diagnosis, and no repair authorization provided at any point. All communication was verbal and typically only when I initiated contact. My request for transmission diagnostics has still not been answered verbally or in writing to this day. On 12/2, when I arranged for an AAA tow, the shop refused to release my vehicle unless I paid for "two of the three hours" of diagnostic time--despite never providing an invoice, itemized labor, or any written documentation to justify those hours. The tow truck driver ultimately left while the owner continued arguing with me over the phone during several calls. I requested an itemized invoice and stated I was willing to pay it at least twice during one of the calls. I was never given a number. AAA escalated the situation to a supervisor, who also could not obtain an invoice. I have since filed a complaint with the Attorney General. On 12/3, my family retrieved the vehicle in person. Only then did the shop produce two written estimates for the first time. Both documents showed a "creation date" of 11/10/25, but were printed on 12/03/25--after the vehicle had already been released. These estimates were never emailed, texted, or presented to me at any point during the 24 days the vehicle was in their possession. The documents listed only one hour of diagnostic time, and the fee was waived. The vehicle was released with no outstanding balance owed or paid. I am sharing this to warn others to carefully review the shop's current communication and documentation practices before choosing them for diagnostics or repairs. My experience did not reflect what was advertised or expected, and I strongly encourage others to consider alternative options. The shop was not what it once may have been.

I was very upset and didn't know what I would do. The owner of garage went out of his way to help me. He called a tire store, found they had a tire. He Jacked up my car, took the flat tire off and had his assistant drive my husband to the tire store to get a new tire. Upon their return he put on the new tire and asked for nothing. These people were a God send and I would highly recommend them. They completely saved our day. THANK YOU!

After unsuccessful visit to Hyndai Plaza (they wouldn't work on me until mid/late Dec) I scanned the Internet, looked for car shops near me, and called Brandywine Auto Repair. After explaining my situation to Mr.Alex he invited told me he would check my car within a day even though he was busy and had other customers. Unlike the dealership, he diagnosed the issue immediately which was a beginning of the engine failure. He correctly pointed that it was something that was covered under my 100,000miles / 10yrs warranty and recommended that I try go to Hyndai dealership again. I found another Hyndai dealership, different from the first one, a but further out the area. Got the car towed there and Mr.Alex was right. The issue was a known factory defect and I got my engine replaced by Hyndai, under the warranty. Mr. Alex helped me and was there, professionally and humanly when I was in a very bad spot. Far from home with a broken car. He was very professional, and if I didn't, by accident found him I do not know what would happened. Mr Alex did not want to charge ma a single dollar for his help, advice and time. All he asked me was to give him a call once the things are sorted out to hear how it went. I lived in the EU and USA, visited many many car shops in my life, but I have never, ever experienced such a level of professionalism, service and honesty as with Brandywine Auto Repair. Hood wouldn't close and my electronic power control light was on (epc) that light was never on when I took the car there. Also he sent me the prices of the parts and was trying to charge me so much. 320$ for and oil pan and another 300$ for installation???. 200$ for a dv but if you go to any website that sells oem it's 75-100$. Never taking anything to this guy again.
