Delicious tacos! Overall a very good experience. Was in and out in under an hour (also went on a Wednesday night around 8). The tacos were unbelievable, many different textures inside the taco make it not just a normal taco. Also got chips and queso to split which was also very good. I'm from Philly and unfortunately we dont have Condado Tacos locally. The closest one to me is Pittsburgh. Luckily my boyfriend and I take an annual trip to Pittsburgh for a Steelers game and one of the things I look most forward to is visited Condado Tacos...multiple times in one trip! Gotta get my fix in! It's always crowded and they don't take reservations but honestly the wait list/time always ends up being way less than what they tell you to expect, which is good. They have a decent amount of seating with two bars with seating and then a ground floor and upstairs area. I love all the options and customization possibilities here. Being vegetarian I feel that they have a very decent number of options for me. Their drinks are great, love their guacs and salsas...I love everything about Condado. We love it here so much but I have to say I was a little bummed recently. They used to serve the bud box for $10 and now it's listed as high as $16 on some delivery apps. Decided to build my own and get the queso on the side this time. The ingredients are always fresh and flavorful. Tacos were so good, even after being delivered. Fantastic Happy Hour! Came on a Wednesday night with the wifey and a friend for a taco feast. Happy Hour goes 5-7pm and you get 1/2 off margaritas and $1 off tacos. Definitely worth a mid-week trip. Hipster vibe with colorful wall decor and music playing a bit loudly in the background. We got one Gran Classico margarita and it was great. Real juice (lime and something sweet) wIth salt on the rim. My friend got a mixed margarita, which was reddish colored and came in a mason jar because Condado Tacos is a hipster place. Good deals at half-price! We got a Chips and Queso appetizer. The Queso was fine, nothing to celebrate. The chips were good and our server brought o another order of them later in the meal for no charge. In general service was no-frills and friendly. What's not to love about Condado Tacos... The best part?! You get to create your own taco from shell to toppings. I am a pretty picky eater, so it is so nice to customize my tacos, bowl, burrito, etc. to be exactly how I want it. The tacos are a bit pricey ($3.50 each), but they are $1 off during happy hour; however, they are definitely worth it! Additionally, the margaritas are exceptional... they don't taste syrupy like the margaritas I've had at other local Mexican joints (margaritas are half off during happy hour...yay)! One complaint I do have is that their queso dip is extremely runny. My friend and I were sharing a bowl of queso, so it was situated between the two of us. Needless to say, we made a mess! I felt like I needed to keep my hand under the tortilla on its journey to my mouth, which is definitely uncomfortable. I really enjoy Condado's take on tacos. It's not authentic Mexican but it gives me Mexican inspired vibes. I've gotten their recommended tacos before and they've always been really good. Margaritas are amazing! This time around I got the house pitcher but I've never really had a margarita here that I didn't like. This trip I got the bowl. The recently out the calories on the menu and it was hard to wrap my brain around 700 calories for 1 taco. I decided to do the Kale cause you know I'm trying to lose some weight but not sacrifice on flavor! It was really good! I went with chicken as my meat and added a ton of toppings. I had my first visit here and fell in love! It was actually my first time back to Lawrenceville in years since it really started to develop more (other than to a friend's house). It is really cool to see all the new restaurants and shops. The atmosphere is just so chill and very modernly artistic at Condado. The paintings were just so cute that they just added to the relaxed vibe of the restaurant. My friend and I came on a Saturday afternoon and were seated right away. The only trouble I had was a little difficulty finding street parking as the lot closeby was rather small and full. My friend was here before and to downtown location so it was her suggestion and she taught me how to order. There are ordering slips at your table where you choose pretty much everything that comes on your dish from the protein, toppings, type of shell for the taco, sauces, etc - just by checking next to each choice. I attached my selections on the sheet. I got the Juju and sweet lucy style tacos with shrimp and steak. I also had rice and black beans (has extra spices on them and taste different than regular black beans but good!) ordered as sides separately. They were both made pretty similar with hard shell on inside and soft shell on outside. I was skeptical at first but the two textures together were delicious! The tacos are pretty filling - only had two and was stuffed. However we did have chips and guacamole (some of the freshest guac I ever tasted!) The margaritas are delicious as well - I had a blackberry and a peach one. They are made just right and just two give you a happy buzz. I can't wait to go back! I designed 2 of my own tacos and ordered online for takeout. The pickup was very easy. I wanted to try out their vegetarian options, so I got one with bbq jackfruit and one with the soy chorizo. Man, was that soy chorizo taco delicious. I have a limited experience with bbq jackfruit tacos, and while this was my favorite version, I still don't think I'd order it again. I tried a variety of toppings and enjoyed them all. I also wanted to try some chips and salsa, so I ordered the red salsa. There were a TON of chips and a decent amount of salsa as well - and I only ordered the half portion. I enjoyed the salsa, but it was spicier than I expected. This place has seriously good vibes with amazing art work, delicious food, and wonderful service. My friend recommended this place so we went with a group of 8 on a Friday evening. The place was packed but we were able to get a table of 8 within 15 minutes. Food/Drinks: The tacos are 4-5 dollars each, which is most certainly expensive compared to what I'm used to in the West coast. But they were definitely worth it and stuffed so I only needed to eat two to feel satisfied (although I could've gone for more). I am blown away by the perfect hard shell covered by the soft shell. I'm usually not even a big fan of hard shell but this one was so tasty and contrasted with the soft shell well. The meats and toppings in each of them were perfectly cooked and ratioed well. Warning, the spicy sauces are pretty spicy, which is perfect for me but some couldn't handle it We got pitchers of the sparkling margarita and the house margarita. This was enough for 7 of us to drink and still feel some tipsiness, so they definitely put a decent amount of booze in there, without it tasting strong. Service: Seriously so impressed. They got all our orders without names. Split the appetizers and split the margs correctly on the receipt!! (Designated drivers didn't drink). I've never seen a place do that and without prompting. Fantastic taco restaurant! My favorite part of their menu is the build your own taco section. Unlike anywhere else they lets you choose the meat and toppings, they also have different shells, sauces, and cheese to select. And the options are super unique too, like double shells with hard and soft together with queso in the middle. My favorite taco I made was Kwell ranch shell, chicken and peppers and onions, smoked cheddar cheese, and avocado ranch sauce. It had awesome flavor in every indigent and different from most tacos I've had that have a typical kind of bland taste. I also made 2 other tacos with varying cheese and sauce options to mix it up. I did really enjoy the juju shell and Chipotle crema sauce as well. It was all very delicious and filling. They also are extremely quick with orders. I love that Condado opened this location in addition to the one downtown! The food is just as good here, with cool artwork on the walls that is uniquely Lawrenceville. Even when it's busy, the food comes out quickly and the waiters are attentive. It can be a bit tight when it's busy, since they'll seat multiple parties at the same table to avoid a wait, but it isn't really an issue. Condado's monthly specials are always interesting and include a new drink, guac, queso, and taco. I like the options to either make your own tacos or order some of their suggestions--there's definitely something for every taste! Their tacos are stuffed to the brim, unlike some of the other popular (and more expensive) taco places in Pittsburgh. They have plenty of vegan and vegetarian options, which I appreciate. Pretty big nuisance especially since most of the tacos were pretty awful and it was hard to tell. We had to comb through and reconcile to our order to figure out between 4 people which taco was whose. Check the pics of two of the worst tacos. Some of the others were passable... But i don't really understand how you can charge $5 for these. Guac was not good. Very plain. Queso was the only saving grace. We came on a Wednesday night to check out the spot. It's an interesting vibe with large communal like tables. We were seated downstairs where it was quieter, but had a TV playing Jeopardy.... We ordered drinks, with only one local craft available on draft (two others were out). Our waitress suggested the queso of the month dip, buffalo chicken. We ordered those as we look over the taco options. The waitress recommended 2-3 per person. So, here's what we ordered and thoughts: El Tradicional - Both hubs and I got this one. It was certainly more authentic than the others and the chorizo was tasty. Downside is that it is messy to eat and the seasoning linger on your hands all night, no matter how much you wash your hands. Dutch Dragon - Hubs ordered this and it was his favorite. The portobello gave it a heartier taste. I took a bite and thought The Mantis was way better, partly because I don't care for corn salsa (preference thing). The Mantis - My favorite! I love the heat from the mango habañero sauce, which worked well with the jackfruit. The Lucy shell had a soft spice and crispiness to it. Definitely not authentic, but a good fusion of flavors. El Santo - Our least favorite. I was intrigued by the Condado Secret Sauce in the description. We didn't taste it. It was such a basic taco, so bland and lack of creativity compared to the others. Pass. Queso of the month: buffalo chicken: Rich and tasted like buffalo chicken. It's a sizable portion. We probably ate half before the tacos arrived and that was too much. Hubs regretted ordering 3 tacos. I was wise in ordering 2. It's an okay spot if you're in the area and want to hang out with friends. I met up with a friend for dinner and when we got there they were full so we went on their waitlist and they called us about 15 minutes later with a table. Even though they were busy our server was attentive and our tacos and drinks came out fast. Frozen Marg A good standard margarita. Nothing to really write home about. They have a lot of different flavor options that you can add for an extra dollar and I think that would improve the drink a lot. El traditional The chorizo in this taco was really yummy. Had a cinnamon flavor to it but also some kick. The salsa was a little plain though. The menu advertises guac on this taco but there was little to none on my taco and I think it would have made it better had there been more. The taco also had a heavy onion flavor that stuck out. I would maybe look at other tacos Bubba Kush Peezler shell is really good it is a hard taco shell combined with a soft flour tortilla with refried beans between them. The taco contains pulled pork and refried beans (jicama) which complement each other really well. The jackfruit salsa was initially sweet but packs a subtle kick at the end of your bite. The chips & dip "3 buds" was excellent (Brussell Simmons, guacamole & black bean queso) served with the best house made chips we ever tasted. I highly recommend the prickly pear margarita with sugar rim & the pitcher service was plenty for our group. We ordered a variety of soft & hard tacos -highly recommending the Tequila lime steak taco. The chicken taco in kewl ranch shell was my personal favorite. I am smitten for all places that let you customize the food each detail of your item. Thankfully, many of the items on the Condado menu are perfect by themselves, but a symphony in your mouth once they all come together. We took our kids (one with a food allergy) and even they had a blast building their own tacos. The online allergen menu was super helpful, so we had very little worry heading here for a lunch. We all shared a queso and chips (but really, the kids ate most of the queso). The chips are fresh and shatter in your mouth, not in the dip.
