Stopped in here after a day at the beach. We got two scoops of ice cream- nene tracks and the Oreo chocolate and both were delicious! This ice cream shop is right by Kamaole beach and has tons of free parking available which is very convenient. Our server was very nice and allowed us to try a few samples before deciding on a flavor to get. Only reason this isn't five stars is because we paid $10 for two scoops of ice cream in cups which is a little more expensive compared to some of the other ice cream shops we've visited on Maui. read more

It's very rare that I hop on here to leave negative reviews but this one is definitely warranted. Stopped here with my family after having dinner upstairs at Coconuts. There was a line out the door with (1) person working who also happens to be the owner...(okay, small disclosure here, it was 8:15 when we arrived, and their closing time is 8:30. I'm sure the owner didn't expect a line to be out the door, especially when it's only him. I get that can be a bit stressful and frustrating, HOWEVER, the way he treated me tonight was so rude and unnecessary that I felt compelled to let everyone know before they decide to patronize this man and his business. When it was my turn to order, I simply asked for a cup of chocolate ice cream. He informed me they were out, so I then asked my stepson what other flavor he'd like, he pointed to coconut. Me knowing he wouldn't like it and mistook that for Vanilla, I said, "Okay can I just get a small cup of Vanilla instead". The owners response??????????????? "Here in Hawaii, when we say we are out of something that MEANS WE ARE OUT! Do you see the word out on all of these tubs???????" And then proceeded to go down the line of every ice cream he was out of. I was in such shock, I didn't even know how to respond. I had no clue they were out of Vanilla, which is fine as long as he respectfully told me that. I don't even care about the ice cream. I care about the blatant disrespect coming straight out of the owners mouth. I'm sorry sir but isn't it business 101 (ESPECIALLY in the hospitality industry) to provide great customer service to ensure your customers are happy and feel comfortable in your establishment???? He was so RUDE to me, I can't get over it!!! I usually have a lot to say and will absolutely defend myself in situations like this but didn't want to make a scene in front of my family or the line of people behind me. Husband came here twice for dole whip. It was delicious and the waffle cones were great but it is pricey! Three cones each visit ran about $28-$29. We did stop by Safeway after our first visit to grab Haagen-Dazs in generic flavors such as chocolate for the kids which wouldn't break the bank in the long run. read more

It's fine to charge a premium. 12$ for two kids cups on vacation is sort of expected I guess. Not thrilled about the attitude behind the counter though. It was super awkward standing in the store so we bought the kids ice cream and didn't even want to stay in the store long enough to get ourselves something. When we asked for ice cream the response was "when you work nonstop without days off you get tired." Literally just asked for chocolate ice cream with sprinkles. People in front of us in line also commented once out of the store about the terrible customer service. That being said one out of two kids didn't even like. it. So go figure. They carry Lapperts ice cream here (created in 1983 by Walter Lappert on Kauai). It's rich, creamy and full of island ingredients. I rarely make it down to this part of Kihei, but I came down to shop at the skate​ shop and thought I'd see what else was around. The scent of cinnamon lured me over to the nearby bakery but​ it was a scorching hot​day and​d when I saw there was an ice cream shop​ I knew I had to try it. We walked inside and were immediately assaulted with signage- the menu is enormous with soft serve yougurt flavors, traditional ice cream flavors, shakes and floats, coffee drinks, every inch of wall is covered with the menu items and it's a bit overwhelming. The man behind the counter was welcoming and friendly . We tried a few tastes of ice cream and settled on Lapperts for my husband and soft serve for me. Both were delicious​, a little pricey, but the quality was there. While we were enjoying our "licks" I did a check-in​ on Yelp and was surprised to see such low ratings. I think from my point of view no matter how good the product is, if you are paying premium prices but are treated poorly then​ it's a bad experience and you'll leave a low rating.​ Our experience was great, the ice cream​ was super-premium​​, ​the server was helpful and friendly​. This is one of the best ice cream porlars I have been to, especially in Hawaii. They have so many great unique flavors and quite the variety of other frozen delights to please even the pickiest of frozen dessert lovers. My favorite is the coconut macadamia nut fudge scoop and a Hana Highway scoop and the scoops are generously sized. They have the Hawaiian ice in a multitude of flavors, frozen yogurt, that is really creamy and delicious, all of the makings for your favorite sundaes, milk shakes, malts,smoothies and everything in between that involves frozen treats. I have been in there many times and have spoken to the owner, Chris, I believe and he works his tail off serving everyone in a very timely manner and with gratitude. When you go, be sure to get your ice cream punch card for a free cone when it's filled up. This is a MUST stop while in Kihei on Maui. read more

Below average. We walked in here to get some ice cream for the fam. The lady owner from Canada is pretty shrewd, to the point, and down-right, rude. Her scoops are hella small. I asked for a double scoop in a cup. She scooped the first flavor, a decent sized scoop. After scooping the second flavor and putting it in the cup, she straight looked at it and removed half of it. I was like WTF is happening here right now?! The Ice Cream itself wasn't anything to write home about. For me, it was just meh. We also ordered shaved ice. The owner warned us that if we drop it we would have to pay for another one. Fair enough for me but then don't use flimsy-ass plastic cups that are wobbly and tip over with every bite. Sure enough, my daughter dropped hers. The owner couldn't have cared less. Between the rude customer service and small scoops, I can't see myself returning here anytime soon. read more

Came here randomly after having dinner at Da Kitchen Express. My mother and i decided to check out the area and walk around before arriving here. They serve Lappert's here and that's what pulled me in. My mom and i ordered to share: - maui mango madness: sorbet and ice cream texture with real mango bits - yum! Had this on a waffle cone, which made it even better. - caramel coconut macadamia nut: between these two ice cream options, i liked this one more. This has bits of coconut, macadamia in one giving the ice cream bits for me to chew on. The caramel brought everything together - yummy goodness! There was only one guy working to make shaved ice, scoop ice cream and make smoothies, which had got to get crazy. Was friendly through it all and moved fast. Eating an ice cream cone on a beautiful day in Hawaii should be one of life's most enjoyable experiences, but this place made it downright unpleasant. The lady working there acted like we were bothering her by coming in, and during the approximately two minutes we spent looking at the flavor, she expressed repeated annoyance that we weren't ready to order yet. We were the ONLY customers. The ice cream is Lappert's, not homemade or anything, and I didn't try the frozen yogurt. Quaint little location in a mini strip mall. Customer service was on point - let me be clear on that first. Attendant was having a rough day and kept a smile on her face and made sure all customers were acknowledged. Let's get to the nitty gritty of being "jipped" - definitely don't mind the styrofoam cup, but I couldn't scoop my ice cream with my spoon because it was so cheap it kept bending - not breaking, bending. If I had that knowledge before I ordered, I would've spared myself the frustration and gotten a cone for $1.00 extra. The folks in front of me ordered two shakes which were served in red solo cups (never seen that before). It just felt like there was no effort put into materials and we grabbed the cheapest stuff we could find to make it work. My cup was top heavy because there was almost no ice cream in the bottom to keep it from tipping over - All in all - definitely not going back. We were only in Maui for a week and this is the ONLY place we went back to. Great shaved ice and delicious yogurts in about 140 flavors.

They have the same Lappert's ice cream that is also available at the Wailea mall. We love coming here for dessert after eating at the restaurants close by. The negatives being that sometimes they are inconsistent on scope size and I find it is slightly expensive. We do love the ice cream, and come back regularly. The line here is much shorter than getting the equivalent ice cream at the mall. read more

Lowest quality shaved ice I have had on the island. Ice cream is way overpriced. Worst part though is both the man and woman working (I think she is the owner) have very poor customer service.
