On the opinion of a friend visited this establishment on New Years Eve Day! Lo and behold they had on special a 20 oz. TBone. After being seated cafeteria style with four other family members we all chose beef with three TBones and my wife Filet mignon and my daughter the New York strip. The salads were typical and tasty nothing extraordinary. Then came all at once our slabs of beef with sides. Surprising to discover that the cuts of beef were tender and cooked just as ordered. My particular steak was actually a better cut than when I paid twice as much in Chicago for the steak ala carte! Only a small portion of fat and gristle, plenty of flavor with a smoky essence from grilling over real wood? The yeast rolls were hot and fresh. My broccoli was tender but not overcooked. My fiancé and I decided to try Conestoga on the recommendation of so many friends. We figured since everyone raved about it, it had to be great. I couldn't care less about the wait... you're going to wait at a decent restaurant regardless (less the fact if you have reservations). We waited approximately 20ish minutes and were seated at a large table for just him and I. No problem, we didn't mind the space. The beer and wine menu/options were lacking but we figured we'd make the best of it and pair as best we could. The salads came drenched in dressing... thankfully the amazing rolls could soak up the extra dressing. The steaks came out not too long after the salads. Sadly they were overcooked and seriously lacking flavor. They offered some 'sauce' which looked like au jus to pour on top, but it didn't save the flavor of the steaks. We're hoping it was just an off night in the kitchen so we will give it another try some time. read more

Real people, plastic tablecloths, baskets of crackers, bowl of butter and country crock, and a waitress who is very likely to call you "Hun". Do not judge a book by its cover because this is one of the best steaks I've ever had. I don't know how they store their wine but it is served near to outdoor temperature, so, if it's hot out, get yourself a cold beer. Menu is extremely limited-- just order your steak and move along. Don't be looking for a wide selection of vegetables as sides either; the baked sweet potato is southern legit. I was pleasantly surprised by this place after getting a recommendation to eat here. It doesn't look like much on the outside and the inside decor is sorta bland, but the food is really good. The free bread is baked fresh and all the steaks come with salad and a side of your choice. The salad did come with too much dressing on it so I recommend getting it on the side. The steak tasted fantastic and I didn't feel the need to put any steak sauce. It was slightly over cooked since I ordered a medium but the texture wasn't tough. One of the things I appreciate about this restaurant; it's not trying be like the chain restaurants. The staff sticks to who they are and what they know. The night I visited, I enjoyed the rib eye with their homemade fries. Loved the rolls! Was it Morton's or Ruth's Chris? No. It was Conestoga. My steak had good flavor and was cooked the way I requested. Erin ensured my cup never ran dry, I always had rolls, and made sure to sell me on the cheesecake.... which was light and creamy. This was my first time here and I really liked it. The steak was cooked exactly to order and their secret marinade really gave it great flavor; no need to add any type of steak sauce. We waited about 20-25 min to be seated, which I thought wasn't bad considering how busy they were. The service was awesome as well. If you feel like steak, this is the place. This is the best steak in the area, people travel here from Eufala, Enterprise, Troy, and Anniston. The location is along US 231 just north of dothan on the west side of the street across from the mall. The building is old, and has a couple expansions. The kitchen is simple, you get a delicious mouthwatering steak, an iceberg lettuce salad, and potato (baked, or fries). If you want to be adventurous you can ask for cheese fries, and have two kraft singles melted on your fries. The steaks are cooked to your desire, and are delicious. I have never been disappointed by the steaks. They serve beer, a very select few. The staff gets your drink order, takes your food order, and keeps your glasses full, then ask for dessert. They definitely aren't the anywhere near the best steaks I've had, but for the price they are really good quality and the service is always good. For a casual steakhouse with reasonable prices, Conestoga's is great and well worth trying if you are in the Dothan, AL area...I always try to go when I'm in the area and I'm never disappointed! Dothan locals have raved about this place for years. Somehow I never tried it. Buddy and I both ordered the T-bone (which is 2/3 NY Strip and 1/3 Filet). Well Conestoga obviously sells 9/10 of the filet off of there, and sells you the T-Bone with literally a single bite of filet on there. Sell me a NY Strip. Don't BS people. Sold 4 stars, I had the tbone and it was great! It came with 2 sides, I chose the baked potato and side salad. The steak was cooked perfect and was very good and we'll seasoned. Potato was good, salad was small and had very little lettuce. The rolls are great! The biggest downside of this restaurant is the atmosphere, you would think with the amount of money this place brings in, they could do something with the decor.. They have windows that are boarded up, I didn't understand it. It's very dingy and outdated, could use new life brought to it. What a letdown. The locals recommended it, more than one or two. Can u spell disappointment? First I'm seated by a woman with the personality of a concrete block dressed in shabby jeans and a tshirt with stains. Taken to a dark room - Designed in the 50's with diner style seating painted in a gloss beige. Yep, even painted over the moldings and excess beige paint on the tables and carpet. The waitress was the only positive thing going. She had personality. Ordered. We prayed the meal would be better than the appetizers. YUK. And if anyone from this restaurant reads this, even though it was 40 minutes until closing DO NOT RUN A VACUUM CLEANER when patrons are dining! Gross! Dinner arrived rather quickly but after three bites we got up, paid 80 bucks for two meals, two appetizers and two drinks. Of course I complained about the overly cooked, improperly grilled tasteless steak, the shriveled lettuce and container of whatever it was, I think they called it salad dressing. Sorry was all we heard. That'll be $78.12 please. We went around the corner to a chain steakhouse. Now there we had atmosphere and a meal worthy of 80 bucks and was greeted by a smiling face dressed well and clean clothed. Let the locals have all they want of this dump.
