The place is usually pretty busy on Sunday morning. Decent affordable diner food. Breakfasts are usually generous and pretty. Service can be slow for large groups. Today, I got the meatloaf w/ potato side and beets. The roasted meatloaf had that standard tender texture and ketchup glaze with a standard brown gravy. Pretty affordable price point and I probably won't eat much else today. Beets were a healthy sidekick for this meal.

The front area really has a classic diner feel with red booths and bar seating, while the larger back room has standard seating and it's super big. Their food is the absolute best, so comforting and always come out right. While I've admittedly never explored beyond a few items, when I go with others, they rave about their choices just as much. The roast beef platter with fries is a classic and a must have. It's so perfect. Over the years, the service has gone down a bit and it's much slower, seems as if they are a bit short staffed, so be prepared for a longer dinner, but it's worth the wait.

We had to eat and decided to give this place a try. Nice, comfortable place with friendly staff. As you are waiting to be seated, you are tempted by a cold case with lots of homemade sweet goodies. I was hungry and wanted to try everything. Hubby wasn't that hungry, but he still ordered something. We started with a mixed munchies plate. This came with chicken strips, fried mozzarella sticks, and pierogies, with a side of marinara sauce. They had four daily soups. They all sounded really good. I had chicken and orzo, and my husband had cream of chicken (I think). The soups were amazing. It had big chunks of white meat chicken. I really wanted some beer-battered fish and chips. I was told the regular cod fish and chips were not beer-battered, and only the haddock was beer-battered. I opted for the haddock with French fries and corn. Hubby ordered Philly cheesesteak flatbread. The mixed munchies were good. I don't think I have had deep-fried pierogies. I think I prefer the steamed ones. But these had a good flavor. The haddock was huge. I sent a picture to my kids, and they commented that only the head and tail were missing. . . lol. . . I hardly ate any fries, but hubby said they were crispy, hot, and tasty. Hubby got his flatbread to go, and we ordered a strawberry shortbread cake to go. We had some of the cake as a late-night snack. It was okay, but I don't think I would get it again. I was thankful that hubby wasn't being "tight" today. I didn't even have to ask him to be generous with a tip. He said, "It's Mother's Day, and she's working". Today's breakfast stop is Nardone's, a classic retro…read moremom-and-pop diner that's been around since the 1940s, with the current owner taking over in the '80s. They serve up home-cooked flavors at reasonable prices. We were invited by Lisa, the owner, who follows us on Facebook, to come do a review. I ordered the 2-egg special with sausage, white toast, home-fried potatoes, and sunny-side-up eggs--plus a refreshing glass of OJ and some ice-cold milk, none of that coffee stuff. Walking in, I immediately felt welcomed, which is something I always appreciate. It's a cash-only spot with an ATM on site. Around here in Pennsyltucky, sunny-side-up eggs are "dippy" eggs, perfect for dipping your toast. My eggs were cooked just right, the toast was perfectly buttered, and the potatoes were crispy outside and soft inside. Now you can taste their legendary sauce no matter what season it is. Now the first thing I love about this place is that from what I was told by the owner, I am the first person to do a review here. Now they serve footlongs, I ordered two, one with mustard and onions, and the other was their signature chili, mustard, and onions. As per the video you see he does not skimp on the toppings. You know the coke was awesome, very refreshing. My order of fries reminded me of the shoestring fries which were served right out of their fryer hot and fresh. The dogs are Berks brand, I do not know and couldn't find out if they were an all-beef or beef and pork mix. Their chili sauce is a good tasting chili, blended with the mustard and onions created a good blend making these dogs really good chili dogs.
