Just heard the Conference Room is closing. While I don't wish ill upon anybody, this does not surprise me. I had the most disturbing experience with the owner of this place, and I see that other visitors posted the same type of encounters. We stopped by to have drinks & apps and listen to the R&B band a few weeks ago. The owner told us it would be $35 cover per person. I told him we'd be happy to eat and drink and support a local business and listen to music, but after some non-negotiable odd conversation he told us it would be a $35 cover on top of any F&B. We then decided to listen to the music in the Playa Vista public office space just outside the perimeter of his patio. He then came over and told us in a raised voice that we can not sit here as it's part of his property (which it is not) and that he'd call the authorities. His behavior was like an emotionally immature adult scolding a misbehaving child. Truly bizarre. I don't know if he intended to call the police or property security but the local security showed up and did nothing. But I have never experienced any owner of any type of business treating customers in this manner. read more

The $50 table charge, just to be there breathing the same air as jazz musicians, was as hard to swallow as the sinewy cut of steak on the STEAK SALAD. But OK, we settled in absorbing an endless string of Latin tunes from the jazz quartet...nary a hint of swing was to be had on this samba-laden chewy steak night. THE BRAISED SHORT RIB OVER RISOTTO was heavy on the oil array but flavorful. Wifey had the GRILLED CHEESE with house made POTATO CHIPS. It was a hot mess of cheesy almost-joy. As the band launched into their eighth Latin selection of the evening, our waitress finally ambled by to pick up my empty beer glass. Weirdly, she grabbed it then turned to leave without asking me if I wanted another. In my 45 years of dining out, this was a first. Eventually, the 2nd pint made its way to our table along with the $125 check for the evening - and its contents that you've just read about. For $125, I'd almost be expecting Diana Krall and a couple of glasses of champagne versus a pedestrian goopy grilled cheese, an okay bowl of pasta, a horrid steak salad and two drinks. Super sexy vibey spot close to home! Great wine list, amazing music (Saturday night) & super sweet servers. Our servers were twins - Gracie & Daisy! They were both attentive and sweet. I'm probably more at a 3.5 star of this place right now, but I really see potential and so I hope to alter this review soon and get it to 5 stars. There's definitely lots of service kinks to be worked out. We walked in and sort of just stood around until we caught someone's attention. There's no clear uniform, so we were actually a little confused at first as to who worked there and who were just other patrons. We got seated after a little confusion and ordered. They don't have their drinks menu printed yet so they just verbally told us what kind of reds and whites they had--a few different red and few different whites. My friend got the Cabernet and liked it. Food wise, we got the cauliflower wings, buttermilk fried chicken and chips, smothered fries--Mediterranean style, and ended with the "all hands meeting" sundae. The cauliflower wings were delicious--super crispy and delicious with non breaded/fried roasted cauliflower pieces at the bottom. I didn't really anticipate it being fried, but ti was good. The "bang bang sauce" on the side wasn't super identifiable to me but was delicious. The fried chicken was decent. The smothered fries weren't what I think as normal smothered fries but I really liked the sauce on the side because it didn't get mushy. Lastly..the dessert. We were very confused as to why the dessert was $20 and after we ordered the waitress asked if we were celebrating a birthday...it was just two of us and we said no and wondered why she asked...when it came out we understood. It was GIANT! Like meant for 4 people to share. A little heads up or note on the menu would have been cool. It was really fun to look at but really hard to eat. The top part is all just whipped cream and dry pastry pieces while the ice cream is below that and a dulce de leche style funfetti cake below which was delicious but almost impossible to get at. Side note: there's parking and the structure and it says they validate but DON'T be fooled. We asked them to validate, went to the structure and it said parking would be $20! So I went back in, they re did it and it still didn't work! At that point, we gave up and paid the $20, but this was possibly the most irritating part. It's Playa Vista at 7 pm...had I known they wouldn't validate, we would have just parked a couple of blocks away and walked, there's no need to make your patrons feel totally jipped especially when their signs say they validate! read more

This place is located in a corporate park literally next door to Loyola University apartments. As dusk settled, the pretty patio lights strategically strewn across the patio courtyard created a festive feeling. They were gracious enough to provide blankets for us to sit on! The staff from the host, manager, our servers were super hospitable. Loved the Fig Jam Gorgonzola Flatbread which was akin to a large pizza! So much to share. Also, I loved my Shrimp Crabcake Banhmi, rich in flavors and texture. Would totally order that again. Came with fresh potato chips and these were great dipped in ranch. The Mac n Cheese literally runneth over. It wasn't what I expected. No crumb topping and the roux wasn't thick enough. First time coming here, for a Sunday late afternoon concert with The Neil Deal, a Neil Young tribute band. It's a real odd location since it's smack in the middle of a office complex, so kinda hard to find, but easy parking that they validate parking. Nice wine selection. The outdoor area for eating & enjoying the music is very cool, with lighting & heater lamps if needed in the evening. Now the food, an incredible menu, so I can vouch for the incredible burger, the pizza's & the world class brussels sprouts. Portions are very ample & food is fresh & tasty. The service is friendly and attentive and Peter (owner) is a gracious host. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area. Very odd experience. Made a reservation for outdoor seating for a large group. When we arrived, there were no large tables prepared for us outside (this was fine because it was too cold anyway, but not sure why they didn't have something set up given I specified in my reservation). Inside, the place was basically empty, other than one other group, and they were eating food out of takeout containers from another restaurant. The service was extremely slow, especially considering how empty the place was. This is not the servers fault- she was very sweet and helpful. But she was the only person working it seemed. I friend and I were attending a business event in the area and decided to grab a glass of wine and a meal and found this great spot on you guessed it YELP. Due to construction it was a little tricky to find, but once we went through the maze and with the help of signs pointing us in the right direction we found a beautiful out door area with lights and live music. I let him know I was a challenging customer; I am Vegan by choice and Gluten free by force. He said not problem we got covered you and told me several options on the menu. We were give wine lists and menus; we went with a Malbec I ordered the Gluten free Penne Norma Pasta hold the Ricotta and no protein because they were not 100% sure it was gluten free. It was a delicious warm and hearty pasta dish with lots of eggplant and perfectly cooked onions. It could have been a little spicier for my tastes but still so delicious. My friend ordered the fig jam flatbread with arugula it looked amazing and she agreed that it tasted amazing as well. the table behind us ordered the brussels and they smelled so good that I am kinda planning a trip back to try them. I felt lost looking for this place because Playa Vista was so quiet and empty! But once we got to the restaurant and saw the live jazz bar, outdoor seating, and string lights, I really liked how isolated this place was! It felt like a getaway to some hidden spot. Love that we have a new restaurant in Playa Vista that serves beer and wine! Decided to try this place out during happy hour (4-7 PM) when everything on the menu (drinks and food) is 20% off. Our favorites were the brussel sprouts, semolina gnocchi tartufo, lamb meat-a-ball, and crimini mushroom flatbread. I love my comfort food, so I was also very happy to try their take on chicken & waffles with delicious crispy buttermilk fried chicken and cheddar scallion waffle. I highly recommend the conference room! It's such a cool spot and they do a lot of fun things during the week like a movie night and live music. The cauliflower wings were AMAZING. Highly recommend. The BEST part of the meal was the amazing Sundae. Highly recommend the first one on the menu. It was huge and had roasted marshmallows, homemade whipped cream, ice cream, sprinkles, and CAKE. Loved the mushroom pizza. We subbed beyond meat for bacon. We also had the truffle gnocchi - absolutely delicious. We will be back and can't stop telling friends about it. I left a review a month ago with some suggestions for improvement since it is a new business. I came back last night to AMAZING service, an improved pizza, dimmer lighting. I'm still puzzled about the vibe of this establishment. The restaurant simultaneously felt like I was sitting outside of a casual office building AND at an upscale restaurant. Choose one vibe please! I would have had a better experience if the waitstaff+vibe was more chill, just like the amazing music! Not sure why they had to get all fancy. Our bill was almost $200...for a restaurant outside of an office building? The twinkle lights and live band were wonderful! It was loud, but not too loud where you have to yell to talk to someone. This place is so frustrating! They do not answer their phone. I called and left multiple messages and no return call. I wanted to ask questions about the menu, including the soup of the day, but I couldn't get ahold of anyone. I decided to take a chance and order anyway. Big mistake. Huge. I've wanted to try this place for awhile and was finally able to make it happen. They've been open for about 5 months now (if I am remembering correctly). The beer was good. We also tried the mussels and they were good. Our entrees were the salmon and Mary's chicken. Both had really good flavor and perfect side d compliments with the greens. This is the coolest vibe in Playa vista. We've lived and worked here for years now and have been wanting a place like the Conference Room. The food is incredible (the pizza is so ridiculously yummy) and they've somehow managed to create both a chic/upscale and homey feel to the place. The community that will be created as a result of the Conference Room -- I can't wait to see it/ be a part of it. They've got movie nights, dance nights, jazz nights, board games, happy hour, and INCREDIBLE desserts (try their sundaes - you will love every bite). Patrons are charged a $10.00 entertainment fee on musical and comedy nights (unless it's on a Friday, where the fee goes up $15.00) The portions are humongous, totally worth the price. I went with the mozzarella flat bread, Mac n cheese and my friend had tagliatelle bolognese. All good portions and tasty. Flat bread is definitely worth sharing. This is an amazing find tucked away in Playa Vista. Peter the owner and his staff were gracious, kind and we had unbelievable service. We took our 89 year old parents and Peter came out and helped us from the parking lot to the restaurant and let us pick our table. We had drinks, wine and the food was incredible. This has to have been the weirdest restaurant experience I have had in my 20 years in Los Angeles. Their website uses OpenTable to make reservations. I went on there on Jan 25 to make reservations for Friday, Jan 26. There was nothing available for 7pm or anytime after that. Figuring this meant that the restaurant was super-popular and going to be busy, I grabbed the 6:45pm reservation that was still available. I had not been here before, but my date lives in Playa Vista and this looked like the best spot for a first date. We met there at 6:45pm, walked in, and there was nobody at the host/hostess stand and nobody else around. The place was empty. There was one table that had three people at it that were just talking and didn't appear to be eating or drinking anything. I don't know if they were customers or if they worked there. Every other table, inside and outside, was empty. Again, this was on a Friday close to 7pm. We stood there for five minutes wondering what we should do when a lady came out of the kitchen. She saw the look on our faces and before we could ask anything she said she didn't work there but recommended that we just walk back to the kitchen and stand there until somebody acknowledged us. Wow!! How nice to be outside, enjoy a meal, and listen to God live music!! Masta, a long time favorite, graced the stage over the weekend. Bravo!! All was going well until the power went out, our heater went out & Masta was forced to sing a capella for a bit. Everyone understands that things happen, so that wasn't a biggie. The biggie was that management didn't come out, apologize, or offer a slight discount for the inconvenience. That would've meant they were actually concerned that their guests were having an uninterrupted good time & when an interruption occurred, it mattered. Apparently, it didn't matter as no one other than the artist apologized. Customer service is key and it's the little things that truly count. I'm scheduled to attend another musical even in a few weeks. Hoping the circuits are in place and stay that way! read more
