The $50 table charge, just to be there breathing the same air as jazz musicians, was as hard to swallow as the sinewy cut of steak on the STEAK SALAD. But OK, we settled in absorbing an endless string of Latin tunes from the jazz quartet...nary a hint of swing was to be had on this samba-laden chewy steak night. THE BRAISED SHORT RIB OVER RISOTTO was heavy on the oil array but flavorful. Wifey had the GRILLED CHEESE with house made POTATO CHIPS. It was a hot mess of cheesy almost-joy. As the band launched into their eighth Latin selection of the evening, our waitress finally ambled by to pick up my empty beer glass. Weirdly, she grabbed it then turned to leave without asking me if I wanted another. In my 45 years of dining out, this was a first. Eventually, the 2nd pint made its way to our table along with the $125 check for the evening - and its contents that you've just read about. For $125, I'd almost be expecting Diana Krall and a couple of glasses of champagne versus a pedestrian goopy grilled cheese, an okay bowl of pasta, a horrid steak salad and two drinks. But hey, we're in Playa del Rey at the Bluffs...I'm going to keep telling myself it was epic - and maybe someday it'll become true.

Food was great and the service was excellent. Cool vibe made for a great ambiance. Get the lemonade if you can.

There are days when I find myself missing working. The 9-5. The Grind. The camaraderie. The meetings. The lingo; like PTO. Which brings me to ... last night Met a friend here for dinner, drinks and dessert. More on the dessert later. Before I even go on - enter the address into your mobile device and follow the directions. Finding The Conference Room Restaurant will be as challenging as looking for the conference room at work when you have two minutes to get there before you're late. Cozy spot. Indoor and outdoor seating. Heat lamps for those who choose to brave the California cold (People from cold regions can stop and snicker) out on the patio. Just know the views are spectacular if you like looking at office buildings. And depending on what time, office workers looking at you. Wishing they were you. New restaurant and bar. Still in a soft opening phase. No liquor license. Not yet. Hopefully soon because the ambiance last night with live jazz - would have paired well with Bourbon. Service is a little slow. Friendly though. They're learning. Or just sit back and relax. It's not one of those places where you dine and dash. Lamb Burger. It's what was for dinner. Asked for medium rare. Got medium well. Anymore done and I'd still eat it. Remember ... the movie waiting. Decent nonetheless. Could use a sauce to spice it up a little. And I don't mean ketchup or the like. Switch out the cheese and maybe like a cranberry sauce. Or whatever suits your taste. I just happen to have Thanksgiving on my mind. The dessert. PTO. It's huge. We both said that. We both shared that. We both didn't finish that. And if you know me, dessert is never optional. Epic fail. Look up the ingredients. The dessert options are like ordering the kitchen sink. Little bit of something for everyone. In one dish. Surprisingly not too sweet. I liked it. Didn't love it. Live music on Thursday nights. Happy Hour from 4-7. Check their page for other events. Almost forgot - park in the structure. Free with validation.

Super sexy vibey spot close to home! Great wine list, amazing music (Saturday night) & super sweet servers. Our servers were twins - Gracie & Daisy! They were both attentive and sweet. I really liked them. The food was excellent for dinner. Hubby ordered the Lomo Saltado & I had the Cauliflower steak. Both were super good. Hubby came for lunch with clients and everyone loved the food and ambiance. Recommend. Free parking with validation in the lot. Next door is a fast causal Greek restaurant - same owners. Coming back to try that soon!

I'm probably more at a 3.5 star of this place right now, but I really see potential and so I hope to alter this review soon and get it to 5 stars. There's definitely lots of service kinks to be worked out. We walked in and sort of just stood around until we caught someone's attention. There's no clear uniform, so we were actually a little confused at first as to who worked there and who were just other patrons. We got seated after a little confusion and ordered. They don't have their drinks menu printed yet so they just verbally told us what kind of reds and whites they had--a few different red and few different whites. My friend got the Cabernet and liked it. Food wise, we got the cauliflower wings, buttermilk fried chicken and chips, smothered fries--Mediterranean style, and ended with the "all hands meeting" sundae. The cauliflower wings were delicious--super crispy and delicious with non breaded/fried roasted cauliflower pieces at the bottom. I didn't really anticipate it being fried, but ti was good. The "bang bang sauce" on the side wasn't super identifiable to me but was delicious. The fried chicken was decent. The smothered fries weren't what I think as normal smothered fries but I really liked the sauce on the side because it didn't get mushy. Lastly..the dessert. We were very confused as to why the dessert was $20 and after we ordered the waitress asked if we were celebrating a birthday...it was just two of us and we said no and wondered why she asked...when it came out we understood. It was GIANT! Like meant for 4 people to share. A little heads up or note on the menu would have been cool. It was really fun to look at but really hard to eat. The top part is all just whipped cream and dry pastry pieces while the ice cream is below that and a dulce de leche style funfetti cake below which was delicious but almost impossible to get at. Side note: there's parking and the structure and it says they validate but DON'T be fooled. We asked them to validate, went to the structure and it said parking would be $20! So I went back in, they re did it and it still didn't work! At that point, we gave up and paid the $20, but this was possibly the most irritating part. It's Playa Vista at 7 pm...had I known they wouldn't validate, we would have just parked a couple of blocks away and walked, there's no need to make your patrons feel totally jipped especially when their signs say they validate!

    Cauliflower Wings & Best Sangria
    Mahogani R. J.

Cauliflower wings & Best Sangria Both are delicious! The fried cauliflower is more close to a "fried shrimp" taste than wing taste. For expectation sake, listing them as "fried shrimp" would brand them as the "BEST plant-based fried shrimp in Playa Vista" - it's that good y'all The Best Sangria IS delicious and I feel the sangria after 3 sips! Lol I think it's me tho because I've been plant basing and my system is more open! For those who are used to good sangria's, tell me what YOU think after trying them. #CauliflowerWings

GNO, great food and entertainment outdoors. $10 cover charge per person added to your food bill. Well worth it. It was R&B with a great band. People of all ages and diverse crowd. This is LA. With all that's happening, it was refreshing to see that we can all chill in the same place peacefully and with no barriers whatsoever. This place is located in a corporate park literally next door to Loyola University apartments. As dusk settled, the pretty patio lights strategically strewn across the patio courtyard created a festive feeling. They were gracious enough to provide blankets for us to sit on! The staff from the host, manager, our servers were super hospitable. Loved the Fig Jam Gorgonzola Flatbread which was akin to a large pizza! So much to share. Also, I loved my Shrimp Crabcake Banhmi, rich in flavors and texture. Would totally order that again. Came with fresh potato chips and these were great dipped in ranch. The Mac n Cheese literally runneth over. It wasn't what I expected. No crumb topping and the roux wasn't thick enough. Pass, but everything else was great Fellow Yelper Jules ordered two Baklavas, the Chocolate and the Salted Caramel. We all preferred the latter flavor. Parking in the garage ended up being free after validation.

    da burger.... Awesome !!

First time coming here, for a Sunday late afternoon concert with The Neil Deal, a Neil Young tribute band. It's a real odd location since it's smack in the middle of a office complex, so kinda hard to find, but easy parking that they validate parking. Nice wine selection. The outdoor area for eating & enjoying the music is very cool, with lighting & heater lamps if needed in the evening. Now the food, an incredible menu, so I can vouch for the incredible burger, the pizza's & the world class brussels sprouts. Portions are very ample & food is fresh & tasty. I wish I had taken some pix, but certainly will next time. I'll post later if I find one on my phone. Oh yea, the staff are very friendly & very accomodating. Just added the burger picture !! homemade chips !!

The service was nice. We came here because all of the locations we wanted to try were really booked with long waits. I was surprised there was no wait or not many people here on such a busy night. Glad we got to try it and cross of the list. The décor here is also really interesting with an open kitchen and patio. Also, speaking of open kitchen, there's a 3% charge on the food that's call Kitchen Love. Not sure if that's the standard at restaurants in the area or if it's on the menu but that can definitely rack up with a full dinner with friends. As for parking, there's meters if you're lucky to snag a spot or there's plenty of parking structures in the area.

Not every dish works (some of the desserts were disappointing) but quite a lot works well, and the experience is so unique that even a fine dining veteran like me was impressed. Plating here is among the best in the country. And the restaurant aims to impress all of your senses. Hospitality is flawless, as you'd expect from a place striving for a third star. The building itself is incredible, as iconic as the bucolic TFL setting or the industrial-chic look of EMP. Highlights for me included a perfect scallop dish, some deep-sea prawns, a dark custard, and the quail (a unique twist on a pretty common fine dining dish). The add-ons weren't necessary - I do hate the upsell of add-ons at tasting menu places. The NA pairings matched perfectly with the dishes; it's an excellent option, and I suspect more fun than the wine pairings. Desserts were average for me, but I'm not a sweets person, and I don't like dairy. I wouldn't be surprised if this gets its long-desired third star some day. It's definitely a unique experience worth checking out.

Photos and descriptions of the courses and space simply cannot convey the immaculate flow of the evening (and better left unspoiled), so I'll just note my highlights. Half of what you're paying for is the service, and all the staff we interacted with were extremely knowledgable about ingredients and techniques, and noticed that my partner was left handed almost immediately and adjusted accordingly. The highlight of the standard menu was the morels stuffed with quail (served alongside, you guessed it, quail), drizzled with concentrated birch sap. We were left puzzled as to why we as a society are not consuming more birch sap! The caviar supplement is simply the best caviar course in all of LA, with a generous helping of golden osetra caviar hidden beneath a white asparagus forest. The wagyu supplement was a welcome swap for the lamb course, a very expensive swap, but worth it for the generous portion of A5 seared beautifully. Fine dining sometimes leaves you wondering if the price is commensurate to the experience you are getting, but at Vespertine the answer is a clear and resounding yes.
